Delicious Indian food, delicious flavor, and authentic! Don't let the exterior fool you - I always get Indian food here when I'm in town.

I've never had Indian food before, so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect or what to order--but everything we tried was absolutely delicious. The ambience of the restaurant is very welcoming and fun, making it a great spot to try something new. For appetizers, we had Lasuni Gobi, which is crispy cauliflower tossed in a garlic chili sauce with bold Indo-Chinese flavors. It was really tasty, though definitely on the spicier side. We also tried the Vegetable Samosa, the crispy pastry with spiced potatoes was really interesting burst of flavor. For our main meal, we went with Chicken Tikka Masala, which was grilled chicken in a creamy tomato sauce with aromatic Indian spices. Paired with Garlic Naan and served with a side of rice, it was absolutely comforting and flavorful. Everything we tried was fantastic, and the staff were welcoming and helpful, especially since it was my first time trying Indian cuisine. Our server was very attentive and helpful with suggestions on what to order. Marsala Monsoon is definitely a spot I'd recommend if you're curious about Indian food or just want a fun, flavorful meal!

This year's birthday outing took us to northern shores, thundering waterfalls and Masala Monsoon! We arrived hungry after hiking at CVNP. Very strikingly pretty decor! We loved the free crunchy snacks and fresh mint chutney. We started with the Lasuni Gobi appetizer, a fried cauliflower in chili sauce that rocked both our worlds. We wanted to try the Velvet Broccoli, another vegetarian dish, but alas it somehow came contaminated with chicken. Thankfully, the staff rectified the situation and we got a second order of the incredible Lasuni Gobi instead. I had a new-to-me curry, the Lababdar paneer, which was utterly delicious and perfectly spiced. We shared the bread basket and bestie had a mild veggie curry. We were treated to the Gulab jamun for dessert on the house. Love the romantic decor, awesome grub and friendly helpful service. We will be back!

The service is pretty slow but am assuming it is because it's connected to a grocery store so the same employees are going back and forth from restaurant to store. The vibe of the place is pretty old but it doesn't really matter to me when the food is clean and yummy. You're able to pick the spice level for the food and everything on the menu is vegetarian which is a cool change!

When we arrived at 8:15 (they close at 9) on a Saturday night, there were only two other tables of people dining, but in the next half hour, three more tables came in. The space is quite plain (little decor), with wood tables, a tv playing an Indian movie, and yellow walls. They are also connected to (same owners I presume) an Indian grocery store. Our order consisted of chai, veggie spring rolls, pani puri, masala paneer dosa, and special dosa. The food came out timely, hot, and the service was quick and efficient. The spring rolls were mediocre but everything else was sooooo yummy. I could eat that dosa every day and be totally happy. The food was quite spicy and very flavorful. I'll need to order a Lassi to help out my low-spice tolerance but it was the type of spicy that was not overpowering and tasted great. I'm looking forward to going again soon!

We are big fans, and owners of the Royal Enfield brand of motorcycle, which had a large display at the show, and was really the main reason why we drove to the show from Pittsburgh. After the show, we wanted to get something to eat, and I suggested Indian, so we did a Yelp search and the second listing to come up was called "Chennai Delicacy" . . . and believe it or not, the city of Chennai, in India, just so happens to be where the Royal Enfield motorcycles are produced, and where our bikes were made (Crazy coincidence huh?). So we felt like it was almost our destiny to eat here. I called them on the phone just to make sure they were open, and the owner told me, that they were not really a full-service restaurant, but they had some tables and we could eat there if we wanted. He also said . . . "We are not a fancy place, but the food is really good," and that is exactly what we found . . . a small take-out counter, that had food packaged to go, not very fancy, but the food was really good (it was heated up in plastic containers and served with plastic utensils and disposable plates). The owner was so nice when we arrived, he told us about how he makes everything homemade, and that everything is very healthy. He explained the dishes on the menu. My friends went with chicken dishes (Masala and Butter) and I wanted to try something a little bit different, so I asked about the "Moong Kootu," which happened to be a vegan dish, made from Lentils (Dal), and it was really good, a bit on the spicy side, but not super spicy. We also shared an order of bread (Methi flavored), and everyone liked their food. We talked to the owner, and he told us a little bit about his restaurant, how he does a lot of catering to hospitals and other businesses, and also where he was from in India, and I spoke a little bit to him in Hindi also (I am currently learning it). The food was delicious, I am giving four stars, because I am a big fan of the food, and I enjoyed talking to the owner. Cheers!

My friend and I were the only ones in the big restaurant upon arrival. I noticed about 2 different people during the night come in to pick up their to-go order. AMBIANCE -- Cultural music plays in the background. I love all the colourful photos on the wall and the unique light fixtures. FOOD -- I ordered the Mixed Grill ($24.99) - 1 Kafta (beef), 1 Tawook (chicken), and 1 Kabob (lamb) which was served over white rice with 1 tomato, 1 green pepper, and 1 big onion. I don't like onions so I set that aside. The Mixed Grill was a good meal for dinner. It comes in a large plate so it definitely was too much food for me. I gladly took a to-go box home with my leftovers. All the meats were cooked well and tasted good. The lamb was my favourite. The rice served appeared to be a rice pilaf. The complimentary lamb soup was served lukewarm (almost cold) and I didn't like the taste. It's an acquired taste for sure. My friend and I commented that maybe if the lamb soup was warmer that it would have tasted better. I also ordered the Maloog bread as a side dish which is similar to Indian naan bread. The Maloog bread would have tasted better with some butter on it. I asked for butter but the server said she didn't have any. SERVICE -- Complimentary lamb soup was offered and complimentary tea is provided which is nice. The tea is up at the front counter so you serve yourself the tea. The service was good but could be better. The young woman from Afghanistan greeted us at the table with a toothpick in her mouth which was kind of funny but still slightly unprofessional. She laughed and apologized but I said it was fine. I asked for a glass or cup of water and they don't offer that service which was odd. I had to buy a bottled water for $1. Buying the water didn't bother me as it was just $1 but I'm used to most restaurants just offering water on the house. The young hostesses did check on my table a few times which was good. I can see myself ordering food from Dar Alyemen again but I'll get takeout instead of dining in. The neighbourhood where this restaurant is located is a bit secluded. I do love that this is an ethic restaurant that showcases an immigrant business. **** GOAL of 250 reviews in 2026 - 85/250 total reviews in 2026 - 926 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 15 May 2026
