This was the worst EVER, be forewarned they do not have cars! Nobody told us that, we begged for our confirmation day after day and when we got our invoice it didn't say anything, spoke w Cheryl on the phone and she never mentioned it! Our driver showed up at our hotel in a beat up (scratches, torn fabric and many many dents) to his car asking where our car was. Nobody told me there was no car, just the driver. For the price we paid and the quotes we received in comparison, this was an outrage. We digested what we had to deal with, the driver was nice and tried his best to untangle that web we were sold. We got our "contract" 30 minutes AFTER we got in his car and I was complaining. Had we gotten it when we asked and saw there was no car I would not have booked. We came from NY w a rental car, NO WAY would we let him drive that! I will say the only semi good thing that they did was as send him to get a rental to try and make it right but the experience was already tarnished by this unprofessional (man off the street) driver that they sent. Come to find out this was his first time driving for them, so I don't think they screen their drivers and yet still charged us full price. As a former small business owner, I appreciate candid feedback that identifies areas for improvement, preferably not in a public forum. Unfortunately, the e-mail address listed for the owners did not work, so I have to post everything here. Our initial experience left a bit to be desired. During our initial phone call, we discussed having winery options to choose from. We were told that we would be presented with options for our itinerary and that we would be kept posted. After two weeks, we followed up to check on progress. We were given a list of three wineries for day one and told they were waiting for one confirmation (when we were supposed to have multiple options to choose from to pick 3-4 per day for two days). When I pointed that out, I was then told that our planner was waiting for callbacks from several wineries (not what I was initially told). I then received booking confirmations from wineries for the second day in less than 30 minutes. We were a bit surprised at not getting any options like we were promised, but we recognized the wineries as being ones we would want to visit, so didn't press the issue. We did ask for an itinerary and were promised it a week out (we were arriving on a Friday). When we asked about it the Saturday before, we were told it would be sent by EOD Monday. On Tuesday morning, I followed up and was told it was being worked on. Four hours later, I sent an e-mail making sure it was known that if there was a problem we needed to know immediately, since we had less than 72 hours to make alternate plans and were starting to get anxious. We were assured it was just a technical issue and did finally get an itinerary that day. At that point, I'll be honest, we did not have a good first impression. There was every indication that the ball had been dropped on our itinerary and they were scrambling to handle it at the last minute. Then we started getting messages from our driver, David. From the very first message, we were blown away. His thoughtfulness and attention to detail went far beyond anything we could have expected. From little things like bringing umbrellas to clarifying when was the best time to order food and picking it up for us, we could not have asked for anything more. Not to mention how personable and entertaining he was. We cannot compliment him highly enough. If we were to use the service again, we would definitely confirm timelines and expectations in writing so there is no confusion or ambiguity. However, if David is any indication of the caliber of driver their business offers, we will definitely consider Designated Drivers in the future. read more

We were recommended DD by the concierge at our hotel in downtown Napa for a Thursday and Friday tour and was able to snag the last available drivers. Booking with Cheryl was super easy and efficient- and the prices are super reasonable. We had vineyards already booked but these guys know the area so well and made sure we didn't miss some great places. Thursday we had Driver Steve who may as well now be a part of our family we had such a great time with him. Hilarious, no nonsense, knew everyone, and made us feel safe & taken care of always - we spent basically the whole day together and were so pleasantly surprised by the experience I can't say enough good things. We had a gap in our agenda for Friday and Cheryl was able to last minute book us into a lesser known vineyard which ended up being one of our favorites. Friday we had one of the company owners, Driver Dan, and as you can bet had just as good of a time. We never felt rushed, and again were just so well taken care of, it made our trip to Napa. Dan made sure we stopped to get lunch at a fantastic local hangout and it did. not. miss. We ended the day getting dropped off back at the hotel and were sad to say goodbye! We had the best day touring around the Alexander Valley with our driver Bruce! We received a call/text the day before our trip to coordinate scheduling. He arrived early and we were off for a 9 hour tour (originally we had planned a 7 hour schedule) because there were just so many things to do and see!! Bruce was more than our driver, he was so knowledgeable about the areas we drove through. He will also be your own dedicated photographer for the day, capturing all your special moments. We had planned out 3 wineries to visit but it was the little known spots that Bruce suggested to stop at "for a splash" that were the highlights!! Be Leary. We booked last minute and unfortunately we cancelled with 36 hours notice. It turned into a war when they tried to slap us with a $100 cancellation fee. None of our paperwork said $100 fee for cancellations. We are huge service industry advocates so this is a disappointing experience!! We called the Owner and she ignored our call but proceeded to text several messages (so cowardly). It's So much easier from A service level to just pick up the phone and have a conversation. We offered to split the charge in an Effort to be fair. and then Ona stopped responding. We used other driving services during this trip and had completely different, and positive, experience. Buyer beware when booking a less expensive driver like designated Napa drivers. Quality costs more but it's worth it because there's a lack of hassle and stress during your trip. We were informed via email that we had a car reserved, and were told to call for more details. We called numerous times during business hours over the next several days with both the phone number she gave us as well as the one on the website, and we were never able to reach anyone. They completely dropped the ball on us. Instead, the day before our tour date, we ended up contacting Wine Tour Drivers (which we saw in a previous poor review for this service below), who were extremely responsive and worked with us quickly to arrange a day that we would enjoy, despite the last-minute nature. I was able to reach Ona on the phone and gave her my information to reserve the date. She was very personable on the phone. However, I never received an email confirmation. I emailed a few days later and received a reply that it had been sent and will resend. It could be she took down my email address down wrong so I included it in an email. I never received the confirmation. So I ended using a different service. read more

This review is strictly for our driver, Tim, as my friend worked with Ona on all logistics for the weekend. Tim was absolutely outstanding! This was my second time in Napa and my first with a private guide. He was warm, friendly and extremely knowledgable. His experience in the industry and of the area provided a very informational and intimate trip of the area. I would highly recommend this trip if you're visiting Napa to taste great wines and learn about the area. If you're looking for a black car service and white glove treatment, I would not recommend the service. We had a group of 6 and had a blast in our minivan car rental! Everything worked out very nice with this place but I obviously didn't read well enough because I didn't realize it was with our own car until the day of and the time when the driver showed up. I wish I had read further on this because I probably would have gone with a different service as this was about $50.00 per hour and this is the same as the other services that use their own cars/SUVs and I would prefer to have used them just because it actually comes out cheaper due to the fact that with my car I am paying for the gas. Booking was fantastic and Ona was very responsive and helpful. I really loved the little itinerary. At the start of the day I was a little unsure, due to the surprise that were were taking our car and then when we told our driver the name and address of the vineyard we were going to she kept arguing that we were not talking about the same place and when I hire a driver I just want to be driven and not have to think. She missed the driveway and kind of seemed spacy :) But from there it seemed to go up... or at least my buzz kicked in. The rest of the reservations went splendidly and I really started to enjoy talking with Jill. The last stop of the day was not planned and I had told Ona what we liked and she set up the perfect spot. We loved LOVED the last vineyard and really are glad Ona planned this one. It was amazing and I am happy that Ona and the service do have this service to plan reservations of vineyards that you wouldn't usually find on your own or ones that weren't necessarily open to the public. I would probably go back to DD just to get their input on where to go, if I didn't feel like picking my own. Again, I do recommend this service... you just need to make sure you prepare to use your own care and do have addresses just in case your drivers don't know where they are going. read more
