Two days of impeccably planned wine touring in Napa led my wife and I to a perfect vacation. Donna, owner and planner and, luckily, our driver planned a spot-on trip. She listened to our needs and wants and tried to understand what we wanted to accomplish during our trip. A balance of larger wineries and smaller, family wineries gave us a taste (pun intended) of Napa. Donna emailed with me in the weeks prior to our trip. She sent me a detailed itinerary. Donna met us at our hotel and drove us to each of the stops on our tour. Knowledgeable yet not at all overbearing, Donna was fun to hang out with during our days. From the initial contact with Donna to meeting the driver Ryan, the company was on top of its game. Donna was quick to let me know she arrange to have our driver meet us at the hotel. She also ask where we wanted to go and also had some suggestions. Ryan was an excellent driver and tour guide. He is from the Napa/Sonoma area so he is familiar with local wineries, restaurants, and info on the area. Drove us to all our wineries but he took us through the side roads and pointed out history of valley and families that owned the vineyards. When time for lunch he took us to grocery store for sandwiches. We were hesitate at first but was delighted that food was good and fast. At end of day he had suggestions for dinner and that turn out to be a gem. It was not a tourist spot but more of food place for locals. Please ask for Ryan if you are using this company. Wine country is not my idea of a vacation. This is strange, considering my preference for booze and sitting around, but to swirl and swish and deconstruct what is essentially rotting grape juice doesn't exactly float my boat. But these things make my wife happy. And, as the saying goes, happy wife, happy life. Or is that "happy wife, avoid the knife." Either way, it's in my best interests to keep the wife happy. Being wine country novices, we hired a driver the first day. First, we knew little of the area and two, we're not big fans of DUIs. Since we arrived during off-season, Donna had an opening that we gladly took. Her rates were below most others, but not so suspiciously low that you think she's going to drive you somewhere dark, steal your wallet and leave you for dead face down in the Napa River. So, yeah, we got a good rate. Donna arrived at our hotel at the crack of 10am, the agreed upon time. Now some may question the wisdom of drinking at 10am while others may be my Uncle Phil, but since it was still technically 1pm for us, a good sousing was on the docket. Now, other than cabs, I've only had a driver once in my life. This was the guy my parents hired when we toured the Philippines. I didn't have to worry about banter with him since I spent much of my time in the car terrified at the sight of four cars jockeying for space side by side on a two lane highway. Wine country, however, is much more sedate. How much do I talk to Donna? She seemed nice, but she's essentially a stranger we're going to spend the day with. Fortunately, my wife is much better at small talk than me so I had the luxury of staring out the window at the explosion of mustard yellow in the fields. My wife asked. Donna answered. She told us about her favorite places for this wine varietal or that. She explained some of the pruning happening in the fields. She told us about the bad weather Napa Valley had the year previous and the effect it had on the harvest. It was perfect for us n00bs. We drank and tasted. We visited four wineries in total and had lunch. In retrospect, we probably didn't take as much advantage of having a driver as we could have; this being our first day we were tentatively getting drunk 2 ounces at a time instead of buying (and downing) bottle after bottle. That's ok. We made up for that later that night in the hotel. But it was nice having that soft introduction to wine country before being let loose on our own. read more

This review is not based on service, as I was in the pre-booking stage of planning my spring trip to wine country. As a former San Franciscan I have always had the luxury of being close enough to Napa to drive home, however, this time we wanted to go big and hire a driver. All exchanges were going well (timely & responsive) until I received feedback in regards to my question of a rental that were were considering. I was shocked and have just been sick to my stomach all day. Apparently, the area I was considering staying in was not "the best area" as it was ethnic-Hispanic and pretty shady... (not my words obviously). Well..turns out I'm Mexican, first generation American, if it was a Ethnic-Asian area, I'd be just as disturbed, FYI. I work in Real Estate and hear it all the time from clients or other agents, as they state "generalizations" about areas... it's horrible but a reality of how many people think. However, as professional it should never be said, especially a potential client. I get it, sadly the ignorance that fills many many Americans cause them to feel the same, but in our type of service driven business we have the due diligence to provide service to any person regardless of color/creed/sex and speak with the up most level of professionalism. I am so happy that I caught that before hoping in the car and possibly hearing a slur or comment made while together. I've grown up in a multicultural community on the cusp of upper affluent w/lower socio economic classes next door, I get it there are plenty of misconceptions... I just don't understand the judgement, especially as a Californian. Thankfully my multicultural background has given me the exposure to the various walks of life that our wonderful country encompasses and just wanted to pass this along. I get that this may not affect many... but for someone that might be sensitive or give a $hit...just wanted to put it out there. Such a great day! We planned a spontaneous trip to napa, and didnt plan out details! We drove up early Saturday morning in hopes of finding a driver last minute. I am a very very detail oriented person with high expectations for service. I am the type of person that will call to confirm my reservations a week in advance with you - not the other way around. I am not the type of person that just shows up somewhere without plans! So when we were planning our girls weekend in Sonoma, I did a bunch of research and settled on Napa Bee Driven. I feel like Gary of Napa Bee Driven could sense my travel OCD and in his wisdom, he paired us with Robert for the day. Having Robert as our driver was like having our very own big brother/tour guide/docent/Napa insider driving us around for the day. He arrived early, learned all our names quickly and asked us about what we wanted to experience. It could not have been better! We were staying in Sonoma, but went out to Napa valley for the day to visit Inglenook and Cakebread. Robert was patient, had great recommendations and gave us history of the valley, the families that owned the wineries and insider tips the whole way through. He gave us some pointers on how to get the best wines when we were tasting, how to avoid getting roped into a wine club we weren't interested in, and where to eat after we'd had plenty of wine. An absolute Must when planning to tour wineries and and of course enjoying plenty of tastings:-) We researched a few driving services and felt the best about this one. They charge per hr which was a very reasonable price, meet you at your hotel or pick up spot and drive you to your destinations in your car or rental. They even called ahead and made reservations at one of the wineries that required an appt. Our driver was great and since we hadn't been there before helped guide us and make recommendations. He steered us in all the right directions and even knew to take the backroads which prevented us from hitting all the freeway traffic. It was definitely worth the money and much cheaper than a DUI. Great way to tour Napa! Ps-we had read about this great taco truck but had no idea where or how to locate it. Not sure how you run a business like this. We tried to use Napa Bee Driven for our girls trip to Napa. With only very intermittent responses throughout the few months we were planning and no help from Donna in choosing/planning out our visit (which should have been our first clue to make other arrangements), a few days before the trip we finally heard from her & Donna promised we were confirmed for our trip and assured us we would get a text the night before with the driver/pickup info. We held our breath waiting for the text, which never came. We called and emailed but Donna's voice mailbox was full, and she didn't respond to our emails. And of course no one showed up to take us on our tour. Thank goodness for the quick work of our hotel concierge and Napa Valley Wine Country tours (Kevin was awesome!) for accepting our last minute booking and saving our trip. Napa Bee Driven is a fantastic service! From the booking over the phone to the all day service, there was not one thing I wished had been done differently. Our group (4 moms) was lucky enough to get Donna, one of the owners of the company, to drive us for all all-day tasting tour. Donna contacted me days before with an email providing her contact information. The day before our scheduled tour, she texted me to check in and see if we needed any help planning. She arrived promptly on Saturday to drive us and was the nicest person. She's educated on the area, wineries and is there is provide as much or as little guidance as you want for the day. Not just a driver, Donna was funny, happy and went along with our progressively crazy antics and day. As the day was coming to an end, we threw in a last minute tasting and she was happy to stay on. After that, we asked if she could drive us to dinner and home (unscheduled), she did. All-in-all it was a 12 hour day for her and she was kind, upbeat, and happy to help...even if by the end of the day we were obnoxious (which I'm sure we were). I have used numerous limo services in the Napa Valley and NONE compared to the service we received from Donna and her fabulous company. And, what's even more impressive, is her service is almost 1/2 the cost of other limo services. She drives your car, so her costs are lower, but in all honesty, I prefer being in my own vehicle. My wife and I are Napa Valley vets. We've been over 20 times in the past decade or so. We implore you to use these folks! We tried them for the first time over the past weekend and hired them for two days to drive us in our car around the valley. It's genius! They show up, they drive your car and you don't get a DUI! I'm told the second largest source of income for the valley is DUI's. Limo's are, well, limos and sometimes tough to get into the nooks and crannies of some of the smaller more beautiful wineries. If you've got a bigger group rent a mini van or tahoe and have them drive it. It's still cheaper than a limo and, as I mentioned before, access to the "off the beaten path" wineries is much easier. read more

Well this is my first YELP review and I could not think of a better place to start. We had originally planned to do a Limo for at least 90$ and hour, but after contacting two with no response I found Bee Driven on YELP. What a score. I emailed them and Donna responded almost immediately. For 1/2 the price of a Limo they drive your rental car which would have just set in the parking Lot. After giving Donna some of my Vineyard and restaurant ideas, she gave some input and then proceeded to book all the ones that required reservations, made reservations at three restaurants and made sure we got to them all. I came across Bee Driven when researching different, cost effective ways to tour the beautiful Napa Wineries and I am so glad that I found them! Donna was our amazing driver for the day! We rented a Zip Car and arranged to meet Donna at our hotel. She was right on time and she brought us some bottled waters along with a nice little cooler to keep it cold in the trunk for the day (so thoughtful). She was extremely warm and personable. She was always opening the car door for me and offered to take pictures for us along the way too. We had no idea what wineries we wanted to see so we left the schedule in her hands, we are very glad we did. Without her we would have wasted so much time trying to figure out where to go next and how to get there. Once our tours were done for the day Donna dropped us back off at our hotel, then kindly she offered to return that evening to drive us to the restaurant we had dinner reservations for (which was probably a 20 minute cab ride from our hotel). We took her up on her offer, not only did she drive us to dinner free of charge, she even picked us up when we were done our meals! It doesn't get much better than that (we tipped her for this extra special service of course). You will seriously not regret booking a tour with Bee Driven. You won't have any extra fees to worry about (with most of the limo's or bus tours I came across you have to pay a fuel charge, etc) Plus, you'll get to go to some "off the beaten path" wineries along with any touristy ones you want to see, a lot of the limo's and tour buses don't make it to those ones as you are on a tighter schedule when with a group. The best value and idea in wine country! We loved having our driver for 8.5 hours this past weekend for only $290 (plus we gave her a well-deserved 20% tip). What a steal of a deal! She was a local, answered ANY questions we had about wine country and was a true delight to spend the day with. Bee Driven booked our wineries (some of my suggestions and threw a few of their favorites in as well) and drove us safely around the entire day in our rental car. There are tons of cops around the wineries, so its best not to drive at all after sampling. The owner Donna was so easy to work with and such a pleasure! Can't say enough great things about this service. We were able to enjoy numerous tastings without worrying about getting behind the wheel, could sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery & avoided the frustration of navigating unknown roads with our spouse. Not only did our driver, Donna, know all of the locations on our itinerary, she was able to suggest wineries we hadn't even considered. In fact, her suggestion turned out to be our most enjoyable tasting experience of the day. She shared both a local's view of the area as well as opinions she's learned from driving visitors. My husband & I are not small-talkers. We were concerned about feeling obligated to chit-chat with a stranger on what was meant to be a romantic anniversary getaway where we wanted to focus on each other. Donna was so friendly and relaxed, we felt no obligation. She offered the perfect amount of distance. She offered information when we asked, made great conversation, kept us laughing, but didn't make us feel rude when we chose to talk just between the two of us. We were also worried we'd feel rushed knowing someone was waiting in the parking lot for us. We had no reason for concern. Donna assured us she had paperwork, phone calls & reading to keep her busy and her demeanor convinced us that we had all the time in the world, whether tasting, touring or enjoying a meal. She even recommended we order the amazing corn bread at the Rutherford Grill! Donna went above & beyond by providing a cooler of water for us to keep hydrated on a hot day filled with lots of wine & offered to snap photos of us at our many destinations. This is, without a doubt, the way to go for a Napa designated driver. I would also second everything said here about Donna, she was pleasant but not effusive, knew the area and wines very well, and was enjoyable to talk to without us feeling like she was intruding on the day. We were asked for preferences - all we said is we wanted to start with Mumm (which is a great way to start the day, by the way), and let Donna take care of the rest. Reservations were made for us along the way, with a casual stop for lunch. The only downside was the final reservation of the day (Del Dotto) wasn't a place I would want to return to, but that wasn't NBD's fault per se. We did have a bit of a, er, issue late in the day when one of the passengers had a bit too much red wine. Donna was incredibly gracious and professional through that ordeal as well (I'm afraid that probably happens to her a lot). read more
