They are a showroom. I repeat... they are a showroom. We pur hased our bathroom faucets, Toto toilet, and kitchen sink from them over the past five years. Three years ago, we bought a double bathroom vanity cabinet that cost us over $2800. Then one day within a year of purchase so still under warranty, the center self-closing drawer would not close tightly the last three inches. We contacted Salem Designer Bath, they ordered us a new rail system and the two under-drawer glide latches. THEY WOULD NOT SEND ANYONE TO INSTALL THESE. Because they are a showroom. We brought the rails back to their Beverly lication. They ordered different rails and latches. These did not fit properly and the drawer to this day sticks open a hald inch on one side. It looks like crap. NEVER AGAIN will we purchase from Salem Designer Bath. They are really just a middle man for companies who have no interest in backing their products and keeping customers satisfied and loyal. BUYER BEWARE!!! read more

Communication was delayed practically nonexistent. The parts were indicated to be two weeks then back ordered for over 5 weeks even though they were off the shelf at Ferguson. Had to purchase at Ferguson due to time constraints. Went in to credit my wife's credit card hit with restocking charge. They claimed parts just arrived on Monday which was a holiday even though my wife had received a text on 1/13 indicated parts would not be in for additional 3 to 5 weeks. They did not show me the parts felt like it was a standard response " parts just came in'". A counter person who said she place the order on 12/12 which we doubted called my wife a liar when I indicated that we doubted the order was placed. Total nightmare horrible experience place should be out of business. Homeowners , designers, and builders beware total scam. read more

We spent nearly $5k on products for a bathroom renovation at the end of February. We had a tight timeline and explained that to Amy, the salesperson. She confirmed we could pick up the rough-in materials immediately and all fixtures would be available in two weeks, just in time for our contractor to finish the rest of the job (I went back through our email conversations to confirm this point). There were several issues throughout this engagement: 1) The rough-ins provided were missing pieces apparently, but we didn't know that. We were told everything was good to go for our plumber but when the jet roughs were missing, he installed a standard size and then tiled up the shower. When we received the jets, they were a non-standard size and our contractor told us it would be $900 to remove the tile to install the correct materials. When we communicated that to Amy, the response was basically "oops, sorry." We had to pay the $900 and tear apart our brand new shower or order different jets, not our first choice - and wait for them to come in - and drive into the showroom to switch the materials. 2) The fixtures took two MONTHS, not weeks to come in. Hey, I get it - there is a pandemic. Supply chains are interrupted. But we had to constantly request updates and I really doubt this was the first time Designer Bath had delays. If they had supply chain concerns, they shouldn't have told us it would be two weeks. Finally we called the manufacturer ourselves to request help. The manufacturer told us there were other in-stock fixtures he could send instead of the backordered ones. They all looked identical to us so I'm baffled at why Amy would order the one out of stock and stuck in Poland for two months instead of the one a couple states over. 3) When the final fixtures finally arrived at their showroom, they told us they couldn't ship them to our house unless we paid the $30 postal fee so we got to drive into the showroom again. See email where we asked them to extend the courtesy of comping the $30. They said no; really excellent customer service. 4) The materials aren't worth the huge expense, in my opinion. They looked nice the first day but after using the shower, the brushed nickel is covered in water spots and looks horrible. In hindsight, I wish we went with a more cost effective - and less exhausting -- route and ordered from the manufacture or from Amazon. read more

Went to Watertown to check a product for shower stall, which staff of this place was not familiar with. They laughed at me when I mentioned that another place in Boston had this product I was looking for, telling me that did not mean the product passed the Ma standard code. For them to not be familiar with one product a customer is looking for is one thing, but for them to laugh at what a customer is trying to explain is another. DesignerBath and Salem plumbing supply, you need to re- train your staff more, better. Word of mouth goes a long way. read more

This review is for their Watertown, MA location. There was two months of delays that were beyond their control but left us with an unusable bathroom for an extra two months. A product that they sold to us assuming it would be available to ship within a few weeks was actually on back-order. The salesman apologized for not checking his computer at the time of the order when we were forced to pay up front. We then had to call them once a week each week to try to get updates and I found that disconcerting. The part I find most amazing is that the attempts they made to rectify the situation were halfhearted at best; they didn't offer any discounts to make up for the delays, or anything to try to make us want to return to them for future business. read more

This place is run by a bunch of thieves. We just bought a new house and one of our big projects was to redo the bathroom. We shopped here and bought a vanity, sink, and shower faucet. We also bought a kitchen sink (and that is horrible too, but I'll focus on the bathroom right now). The salesgirl we had was rude and sarcastic, but we went through with the sale anyways. They said it would take one week to get in, when it really took 3 (and ruined our contractors schedule), and would not return our calls when we tried to find out the hold up. We finally got our supplies and nothing works right- besides the vanity (how can you screw that up though?). The faucet is slow and drips water everywhere, and our shower just broke after a month. The piece holding it together was SUPPOSED to be nickel, but is instead a plastic piece painted to look like it is nickel. The best part is we can't return anything!! No return policy! One phone call was all it took. I went and picked up the hard to find parts which they had in stock and they also took the time to give me good advice on how to fix my toilet. The only experience I had is that today around 1:30-2:00 on Mishawum Rd in Woburn one of their delivery trucks ran a red light while I was driving from Woburn mall toward Dunkin' Donuts and luckily I was paying attention slammed on brakes just in time. The driver looked at me and continued to eat his lunch. Naturally I pulled over safely in a parking lot and might have said some bad words while this driver was slowed down by a little traffic and he ate his lunch while driving still like nothing had happened. I was lucky but the next time this oblivious, selfish bonehead does this the next person may not be so lucky. I am a designer who has given Salem Plumbing a lot of business. A client bought a $4000 Kallista (high end Kohler) tub with an inline heater that arrived broken. Salem P contacted the manufacturer and they decided to send a repair person. The repair person discoverd that it was broken in many ways. I want a new tub. I have called SP twice & emailed them and have had NO response from them. The only thing I heard was that they defended the manufacturer not wanting to "eat" a tub if they didnt have to. What about the customer eating a bad tub? No customer focus here whatsoever. Very disappointing. read more

I am remodeling a bathroom, and tried to shop local. We had a very uncomfortable experience. No-one would help us on the showroom floor. There were 3 sales assistants, no other customers in sight. When I asked questions, I was answered curtly, then ignored. After I figured out that we had to check in at the front desk to get any help, we were assigned to an assistant. We showed her the tub we were interested in. When we said we wanted to think over-night and come back the next morning, the assistant told us that the posted price was in error, she would honor it today but "the minute (we) go through door the deal is off". We ended up in panic, and bought it on the spot. No delivery options, even for extra cost. This is just not good business practice. In times when we are trying to support our local businesses, sadly, I will not be returning to Salem Plumbing to purchase my other bath fixtures. read more

My husband and I had another great experience at Salem Plumbing today, as always. The plastic nut broke off of our toilet handle leaving the "flusher" (my words) dangling helplessly from the side of the toilet. Toto does not supply this part individually. The crew at Salem Plumbing were generous and helpful. They were more focused on customer service than making a profit- going out of their way to supply us with the nut off of a used assembly, rather than selling us an abundance of parts that weren't needed for the repair. This customer service is what we have been able to count on for many years- dependable, reliable, and always a good experience. read more

Purchased vanity, medicine cabinet and fixtures for a new bathroom. Nothing is refundable so make sure you are purchasing the correct items and that they can be used in your bathroom . I attempted to cancel an order within days or purchase, and was told it was too late since it was already in production. Also manufacturer sent an incorrect part for the plumbing which caused a delay in installation and 2 trips to the showroom. The items I purchased are nice, however I think I would be more cautious the next time I start a project. I would probably avoid a location that doesn't allow returns or I would be absolutely sure what I was purchasing would fit into my bathroom. read more

We came here two years ago to purchase items for a new bathroom during their annual sale. We worked with Sharon who was super kind and helpful. We were happy with our purchases. Due to red tape at our condo, we just recently started our bathroom project. We had ordered a vanity online from Home Depot and it arrived damaged. We were left with two days to find a replacement before our plumber arrived. We went to Designer Bath and got to work with Sharon again. They were so helpful, and we ended up getting a fabulous deal on a floor model. Sharon is truly a pleasure to work with. She is upbeat and incredibly helpful. After our purchase, we had follow up questions about the product, and she emailed us right back. Great service. read more

We do try to support local businesses, but this place is a horror show. Extremely hard sales pressure, misinformation, and a 50% restocking fee for a product we cancelled 3 weeks after ordering it, well before it had arrived. Beware of their design suggestions -- I had to buy a Waterpik shower head in a hurry late at night because the shower head suggested by the staff was such a poor choice for the shape of the new shower we had also just purchased from this place. (The brushed nickel Waterpik looks and works great, by the way.) If you enjoy losing hundreds of dollars on a $2000 bathroom renovation, this is the place for you. But I would recommend giving the money to a more deserving company. read more

As you may notice, I haven't put any stars for my review, I used to love going to Designer Bath around 7-10 years ago, they had great help then! I am a designer, so I did a lot of business with Jeannie and Maureen. Sadly, they are no longer there, and I went in a few weeks ago, and got Sharon, who was underwhelming to say the least! I will not be bringing any more clients there, as I was so embarrassed as to how we were treated, my client was ready to take out their credit card and spend, I told her to put it away, as we will be going elsewhere from now on, when I called Sharon to discuss how our appointment went, I received her voicemail several times, and she never returned my call, two words: NEVER AGAIN!! read more
