I have been trying to find someone to do the repair and have no luck. Finally I decided to look up knitting shops on Yelp, hoping someone will be able to help. I called Nirto Knitters, and a lady picked up the phone quickly. She was upbeat, friendly and sympathetic. She explained almost no one would do the repair because it always looked "not great" (kinda like a thick patch). However, she recommended the "needle felting" method. I quickly googled it and it looked doable for small holes! Oh I really hope it will works! For this experience, I recommend NItro Knitters for anyone who need knitting guidance.

Though they were packed with other shoppers, the staff was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. We each purchased a few skeins of yarn, and my daughter picked up an adorable claw clip in the shape of a ball of yarn with knitting needles. There was a wide variety of yarn, from cost-conscious basics to mid-priced natural fiber staples, all the way to sumptuously decadent fiber yarns at a luxury price point. Their needle selection was robust, their notions and other celebratory yarn-goodies plentiful as well. There is literally something for everyone here! They also have a wall dedicated to cross-stitch/embroidery with super fun kits. I know I missed mentioning something since it was stuffed to the gills with people, and if I'm honest, I was a little overwhelmed, but we look forward to returning soon for a more leisurely amble.

First of all, the staff were some of the nicest people I have ever met. They went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and were happy to answer any questions I had as they came up. They were also extremely friendly and seemed to want to get to know me, what projects I'm working on, and what I was looking for. Second, the selection and prices were unbeatable. Starlight Knitting Society had so many different yarns and crafting accessories to choose from at very reasonable prices. Despite wanting to buy everything in the store, I left with a Starlight Knitting Society tote bag (my new favorite bag to carry my knitting projects in) and a tension ring. I really wish I lived closer to Starlight Knitting Society. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Portland!

As a 20+ year knitter/crocheter, I never…read morereally *need* more yarn or tools, with some limited exceptions, but it's always fun to take a gander. Spoiler alert (not to other yarnies): I have made several purchases in the last couple of weeks. My hot‍ take on Unwind: * Wide variety of yummy yarns in various fibers and price points * Great selection of knitting/crocheting tools and notions * Flawless vibes- friendly, warm, supportive, fun shop folks * Fairly-priced, helpful, fun, supportive class opportunities * Lovely fiber arts community If you have time and the inclination, read on for further details. I knew immediately I wasn't going to leave empty-handed. There's a fabulous selection of yummy yarns here, in a variety of fibers (natural and acrylic), at a wide range of prices, which is wholly refreshing! I've been to some yarn shops where they tout that they only carry "natural fibers." While I enjoy knitting and crocheting with natural fibers (hello, alpaca!), sometimes I need an acrylic or acrylic blend for a project that doesn't require me to cash out my 401K (grateful to have one) or need the acrylic boost for care-ability. I love creating gifts for cherished peeps, but we yarnies know there are some recipients you know won't remember to hand wash an item. (Sometimes it's me!) They have a marvelous selection of hooks and needles, accessories, notions, and other yarnie implements. I was giddy to find they have one of my favorite knitting needle brands, KnitPro. I don't care how many knitting needles or interchangeables I have; I can always use another. I'm also excited that they have KnitPro crochet hooks! I bought one in one of my most used hook sizes to give it a whirl. Unwind is full of incredibly friendly and helpful folks. Heather and Anne gave us an extremely warm welcome the first time we visited. Heather invited us to the bi-monthly Tuesday Social Stitch, where folks come together and knit or crochet in the company of other fiber crafters. We had a great time meeting other knitters and crocheters the following Tuesday. I also signed us up for a knitting class. Without getting too kniterdy™, there are two main styles of knitting, English (aka "throwing") and Continental (aka "picking"). I am a self-taught knitter from 20 years ago, using the early days of video tutorials, which demonstrated knitting in the English style. I've always wanted to learn Continental, but since I had strong muscle memory, it was hard to switch over for good and I always reverted to my comfort zone, English style. I saw a Continental knitting class offered by Anne and registered my daughter and me. We had the BEST time learning from Anne. She was fun, engaging, and supportive. We also met a whole other cohort of lovely people that made the class even more engaging. I've been to many yarn shops in 20 years and I can say without hestitation that Unwind is my favorite, by far!

I have utilized the Beaverton location for all my framing, custom and non for decades. WOW - this store is so much larger than the one by me and has way more inventory so I am jealous for all my friends who live close by. I now know though that it is worth the drive or that I should drop in here. The name of the store IS Craft Warehouse but I actually rarely buy craft supplies. I happened to be nearby to see a movie and I have been needing to get four different frames for new art. I love wandering through a craft store though. Sometimes I find stuff (who am I kidding...usually I find A LOT of stuff) and sometimes I find ideas. I will say that the Craft Warehouse in Beaverton does seem to have a lot more creative ideas throughout done by employees with the different things they have for sale which I always find super inspiring. I have purchased so many things for home décor here. I have cats so having real indoor plants is rather challenging. Fake succulents are great and Craft Warehouse has some of the best ones at great prices. They have a lot of things I have not found at other craft stores.
