I needed to get my dress altered for an engagement shoot in Paris. I was able to get the dress at a dress dash in Sacramento but the area around my shoulders was way too big, and the straps were falling down. I found out about designers tailoring from a coworker and heard a lot of great things so I knew I had to go. I was greeted by Mrs. Dang when walking in, and she was super friendly and welcoming. I was directed to put on the dress in the try on room and Mrs. Dang immediately got to work on my dress. I could tell that she was very skilled, and she knew exactly what to do with my dress. she pinned in my dress around my arms and the strap immediately fit perfectly! I was able to pick up my dress within a month, but I believe that she was done sooner. Overall, I had a great experience with designers tailoring and will definitely be back for all of my tailoring needs! I have been going to Designer's Tailor in Los Gatos for over 25 years. I started going to Thuan when my children were young. She tailored their dance costumes and sometimes with very tight turnaround. She has fixed and tailored everything from zippers on jackets to hems on pants to taking in dresses. I have never had to bring something back because it was not done right, and she delivers on time. Her sweet nature and attention to detail is appreciated and unmatched. In 2009, I bought a men's leather jacket (for 750 Euro) while on vacation in Italy (when I was a size 44). By 2017, I had lost 30 lbs, and am now a size 40. Dang re-cut the sleeves and back (for about US$125), and now it fits like a glove - as if I bought it yesterday! (FYI: The seller offered lifetime re-sizing when I bought it - IF - I shipped it back to them in Italy; but it would have taken 2-3 months to get it back, and would have cost $250 (alterations + shipping). Dang did it in less than a week. ...BEST DEAL EVER!!! ) I don't go anywhere else for tailoring. Period. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS WOMAN IF YOU VALUE YOUR CLOTHES! Not only is she never done on time. But she has ruined every item I have brought her!!! 90% of everything I buy has to be altered because I'm curvy... Simple alterations like putting a dart an a dress or taking a top in a little on the sides she can't do it she has ruined countless brand-new expensive Nordstrom dresses because she twisted the seam on the dress! Making them unwearable!!! And she even made me pay for the alterations of the 3 brand new dresses all with the tags still on them, even though I would never be able to wear them. Final straw was today I went to put on a dress I had taken it on the sides and the side to hem by the bottom of the dress is coming apart she wasn't even supposed to be down there. What's even worse is she's always so busy she can't allow you to try on your clothing when he pick it up to confirm that everything is OK see if you take it home and hope that she did it correctly. Needless to say I will not be coming back here!!!!! I am not one to leave reviews but I couldn't let this one go sorry good luck yelpers! read more

I have a pencil dress that had to taken in in the waist. It took just a few minutes for Thuan, the shop owner, to mark where the extra fabric had to be taken in. The work was done with impeccable quality. I was very impressed with Thuan's sewing skills. read more

I have taken many pieces of clothing there, everything from bridesmaids dresses to jackets. Everything they have worked on comes out fitting perfectly and done to perfection. She shortened a bridesmaids dress that was made of shear fabric with an uneven hem and it looked amazing. Could not tell it was ever altered. Price is right as well. My wife and I have been coming here for alterations for over 10 years. The service is exceptional, Mrs Dang the owner is extremely pleasant and friendly. When the chance came up to open a business almost next door and be her neighbor we jumped at it and opened an Audio Systems store and share the same parking lot. I mention this because apart for our own alterations we can see every day the stream of returning customers that depend on this tailor. I do wonder what the few negative reviewers are like as people and how they treat others in general, except that I am pretty sure from their comments they wouldn't be welcome in our store either. We also have one negative review and cannot convince Yelp to remove it no matter how much we point out the person is probably just plain mean and maybe jealous? Talking it over with negative reviewers just makes matters worse no matter how politely we address them. Yelp call them "ranters" and tell us to simply ignore them but for a conscientious business owner that truly cares about their customers I can tell you they are extremely upsetting, something no doubt they will be delighted to know. I can tell you for certain that not a day goes by the owner would not think of the review from Maddi, or from Gerri-Lynn and agonize over what they could have done differently, why that person was mean and unfair even though in such a tiny minority. Do these people think they are one of only a handful of customers of this business or that they are right and their other hundreds of customers are wrong, and what exactly are they trying to achieve with their 1 *reviews? read more

I love Sumi's but she's closed for a while and used Designer Tailor instead. Very simple job of hemming a pair of unlined slacks. When I went to pick them up at 3pm on Thursday, they couldn't find them, barking at me 'wrong name, other name' (uh, I think I know my name!) and worse, they were not ready as promised at 2pm. No call, nothing. Two people in the shop, neither sewing, it wasn't like they were swamped. Treated very rudely, 'come back in an hour'. Well, I was leaving for vacation and that wasn't as easy as it sounded to them. NO APOLOGY, paid full price. Mind you, this was after a week of waiting. Terrible, would never go back, not because they screwed up, because they are rude and ungrateful of business. And parking is a nightmare in that little lot. Sumi. She's wonderful. read more

I have used them over the months to alter 3 items. The first item was promised 5 days later. It was very important I received it on that date and never thought "they just wouldn't be done". But it wasn't. So, things happen and I gave them the benefit of the doubt and used them again. Exactly the same thing... saying I could pick it up on the 6th day but from some other store nearby that would be open. Obviously something they do a lot. I did it... and my pants were done wrong! So again, could not wear the item promised. When I went back to have them corrected, I brought another item (how stupid of me!)... again thinking things happen and no one is perfect. I have had it... 5 days later, went to pick up the 2 times and of course they were not done... There was no more than 2 inches of sewing! So, I picked up my items and went to another alterations place. Guess what... I have my items and they were done beautifully! Don't use them... or be weary of mistakes and not being done on time. read more
