We have purchased carpet, rugs and stair runners from Joanne at the Carol Stream location of DeSitter's over the past 6 years and I wanted to review our recent purchase. Once more, Joanne helped us with real expertise. I am VERY PICKY and I couldn't have been happier with the service I got. Colors matter a great deal, I think, and Joanne has an artist's eye: she helped me pick colors that work well with everything in the room. I had never heard of "adjacencies." She explained how the colors and textures next to (adjacent to) the carpet or rug need to complement each other, for example. The shapes of the "pie" pieces on the turn of the stairs for the runner were complicated and she made sure that the installer got it just right. Also, I found their prices to be spot-on and really great quality. "You get what you pay for," and personally, I would never buy from those mass-marketers with the "old guy" in the commercial, and the like. Also, I found out that DeSitter's supports a number of community organizations and I really like that. That is important to me, too. I rarely review companies but I felt it was important to compliment Joanne and DeSitter's. They are simply the best! read more

I really don't like posting negative reviews but in this instance I think consumers should know. We had a horrible experience with Desitter. It's such a long story but in sum it took over a year for me to get my floors finished. Steve Desitter is very nice however unfortunately all his employees from the delivery teams, to the project managers to the contractors dropped the ball. We had to send pictures of mistakes and sloppy work, I had them in our home over a dozen times to complain and fix things that just should have been done right to be frank. They attempted to resolve a bad recommendation on their part and I received lack of communication and attitude from their manager the entire duration of the 2nd portion of the project. It's really sad because they were very expensive and we extended ourselves thinking we were getting the best and that is far from what we received. I still have large cracks and a miss colored board that just won't get fixed, I'm exhausted trying to get what I paid for so I gave up. I honestly wouldn't recommend their services, sad we still didn't get the floors we wanted but spent a lot of money. read more

I love DeSitter flooring! I had been shopping for carpet for months, my husband said "buying carpet is not suppose to be a part time job". But for me making such an important decision that I would have to live with for many years freaked me out. So I shopped and shopped and shopped. Then I was out to lunch with friends and after explaining my carpet dilemma one of my friends said "you have to go see Paul at DeSitter in Carol Stream". So ever though it was a little bit of a drive for me I went and I am so glad I did. Paul is a sweetheart, so patient with me and very knowledgeable. He asked a lot of questions and really seemed to care about my needs and concerns. After awhile I shared my "Carpet Nightmare", he assured me that at DeSitter I would find what I had been searching for at a price that worked within my budget. We just had our new living room carpet installed from DeSitter Flooring in Glen Ellyn installed and we couldn't be happier. We are repeat customers, because the entire process from choosing the carpet to installation is excellent. Our salesperson, Paul Massie, was very knowledgeable and truly interested in finding out what we wanted. He showed us a variety of carpet samples from a number of different carpet companies and then let us take the time we needed to make a decision. He was always ready to answer any questions we had. We chose several carpet samples and Paul suggested we take them home to see what they looked like in our living room. After making our choice, Paul provided an estimate that met our expectations and arranged for the person who measures to visit. This was quick, easy, and on our schedule. Installation was expert. Our installers arrive on time and did an excellent job and cleaned up prior to leaving. The living room is refreshed and looks superb! We recently needed to purchase new carpet in our family room - not something I was looking forward to. After shopping around, we just became confused with all the choices. Which carpet is best for us? A friend suggested that we go to DeSitter. Our salesperson's name was Paul and after asking us a few questions about our home and lifestyle, (kids, pets, budget etc.) he made some suggestions about which carpet would meet our needs. Best of all, it was on sale! I really felt that the guy was looking out for us. He even allowed my wife to take home some samples to get the right color. After we made our final decision, he helped us select the right pad and set up installation. The installers arrived on time and went right to work. They were professional and courteous. When they finished, they even vacuumed our new carpet. The whole process was easy and we are very happy with our new carpet. Barbara smith was who helped me through this whole process. I had four quotes for carpeting from different providers, very disappointed on all of their attitudes and prices. I tried one more time to find a place and called Desitter in Carol Stream. Thank god I did, Barbra answered the phone and helped me out! She was very friendly, helped me pick out the carpet and padding, helped me with my budget, got someone to measure my condo the same day, and got me an install date for four days later! As far as the installers, they we're on time, very friendly, fast and cleaned up after themselves and moved everything. I would highly recommend Desitter for carpeting, and work with Barbra smith, she was SO helpful!!!! The carpet came out looking beautiful and was the best experience I have had with a carpet company! Home Repair Fraud, Theft by deception. $6000 damage done by DeSitter. Ordered a floor and the installer said his brother was the field estimator and sent in an ex-con and hoodlum to rob the 91 year old owner. They said the kitchen cabinets needed to be redone and sent in a man to take them. We never wanted our kitchen cabinets redone by a flooring co. They targeted the elderly owner and demanded to know if the house was for sale and what type of cars we were driving. Had to pay the Crook another $1300 to return the cabinets destroyed. Do not use this company unless you have a Criminal Attorney on retainer. They prey upon the elderly. This is my second review, the first mysteriously vanished. Stay away form this company at all costs. read more

After shopping at various flooring outlets, it was such a relief to visit DeSitter Flooring in Carol Stream, IL. Their experienced personnel answered all of my questions and concerns. Paul, my salesman, was very helpful with his expertise in material and color suggestions for two separate projects. One was for vinyl flooring in my downstairs bathroom and the second was for tile in my foyer, kitchen, and upstairs bathroom. I was also completely satisfied with the fair pricing, timely installation, and great workmanship. Dealing with DeSitter is certainly a "complete package". "VOTED #1 MOST TRUSTED FLOORING EXPERTS IN CHICAGO" I posted a review a few weeks ago regarding Desitter Flooring and their outstanding customer service. It's been 3 weeks and I still have not heard back from them regarding the bedroom furniture that was dropped by their installer causing the mirror to dislodge. The installer secured the mirror again using staples however Desitters customer service said that they contacted another 'contracted' company to review my furniture. Customer service? I dont think so. Another example of poor communication. read more

Rather refreshing to go to a store where there is an expert sales staff who will take the time to ask questions to gain a clear understanding of what my project needs are. Tim really took the time to get to know us and offered a professional solution to our high traffic home. We did our due diligence and shopped around and found the pricing to be fair. We just had DeSitter install new nylon berber carpeting and it's beautiful. Paul, our salesman was very helpful with selecting a carpet for our situation. My mom got carpet done with these guys and everything came out very good. I'm not sure why people are saying they are overpriced since they where cheaper than my other estimates. I took away 1 star because they are closed on Mondays (my day off) but overall i would use them again. read more
