After helping my stepson move into his new apartment in Phoenixville, we walked up Bridge Street looking for a place to eat. Luckily, one of us spotted Il Granaio. This cool restaurant is located in the basement of a hotel. The decor down here was beautiful. We started with glasses of wine and appetizers. The Homemade Meatballs were very good, but the Bruschetta was amazing, probably the best I've had. For entrees, I went with the Sweet Sausage Ragout and my wife had the Chicken & Shrimp Coronado. We both loved them! The homemade pasta with sausage was a great dish. We got here early on a Saturday evening so we didn't have a wait. By the time we left, the place was packed. Definitely recommend making a reservation. This will be a frequent stop when we come down to visit! read more

Extremely disappointed.Frequent patron , birthdays , holidays etc. The menu has basically disappeared.They used to offer much more.Sadly has become like every other restaurant. Lived in Bay Ridge for a while where every other restaurant was an Italian restaurant. This place definitely holds up. The presentation of the food and the taste were all good quality. Came here for my girlfriend's birthday. It was quite busy when we went so we had to wait quite a while to get our checks when we finished eating. The parking lot gets full pretty quick since it's on bridge street. I recommend walking here if you can. Not the best at rating Italian food honestly. I think it all tastes great to me. Had dinner at Il Granaio on Good Friday, and it was delicious! It starts with the fresh Italian bread served with spiced olive oil with an infusion of hummus. This is absolutely fantastic! We had the fried calamari and the appetizer, polenta dish, which was absolutely out of this world! Everyone at our table had different entrées, and everyone left very happy. The wine list is not extensive, but what they have on the list is quality. if you do happen to order a salad, I highly recommend their Caesar, as it is served in a Parmesan crisp bowl! In addition, it is plenty to split between two people. Our team of servers were delightful and very helpful, and the atmosphere was lively. Overall food was decent, good portions, and the servers were very kind, but not the best dining experience I've ever had. We had a reservation and ended up being seated over a half hour after our reservation time. We then did not get our entrees for an hour and 15 minutes after being seated. Even though servers were great and food was good, we were just so exhausted and ready to go home by the time the entrees came. The bread was fantastic. For an app, we got the calamari, which was good but we weren't really into the fried lemon slices that make up almost half of the plate. My husband got the chicken parm for his entree and the sauce was frankly not great. But chicken was good and portion was big. I got the paccheri della casa which was good. I also got a fantastic espresso martini. We got tiramisu to go, unfortunately it was a very small portion size and it tasted entirely of alcohol. Overall there was good and not so good, wouldn't be against going again but would definitely want to go during off hours. read more

Food would be a solid 5 stars- the basa fish dish was phenomenal and the polenta app was the best version of polenta I've ever had. Hubs said his veal was also the most tender he's had. They also make a solid old fashioned. It's really cute inside but the dining room is incredibly loud and drinks took a long time to be filled from the bar. So 4 stars there. I'd give a 4.5 overall if I could. Definitely adding this place into our rotation. read more

This is a local favorite. I went here for a late lunch. There were only 2 other tables occupied. Because it was not busy, we received good service. The ambiance is understated which makes it a great place for having conversation with dinner. Our meal consisted of the Seafood Ravioli and the Pesce Arreganata. Both dishes were good and we left satisfied. Parking was not an issue this time although it can be sometimes because of the limited free parking available in Phoenixville. read more

This was an atypical dinner with Il Granaio as it was through a vegan fundraiser. The meal was very popular and very enjoyable overall. I think I had a water glass near me, and I was just talking and enjoying all the food, almost! The flavorful rice had enough taste, but I was wishing there was some kind of fake meat added to accentuate this offering more. It really needed this, especially as the main course. Some people had a penne dish, and that might've been more of a winner. Service was excellent. This is a classy restaurant for a date or a nice night out. Apparently, Glen Mills has one of these places too. Glen Mills is the original because it says (c) 2011 on its location webpage, and also Phoenixville's URL has "pa2" in it. read more

Our lunchtime visit did the trick. Very reasonable prices, superb authentic Italian meals with phenomenal olive oil, bread, parmesan and wines. Food- we got a starter (grilled octopus) which was the best thing we ordered. Often times octopus can be overcooked and chewy. This was not. You bit right into it and it melted in your mouth! It was paired with arugula and some pepper sauce and lemon. Wonderful flavors all mixed together. The pasta was smaller portions that we as Americans aren't used to, but honestly it was the exact amount you'd want to be able to enjoy both an appetizer and dessert. At the end of dinner, I wasn't bursting at the seams. My BF loved his pasta (Sunday supper), noting the flavors were great and hit the spot very well. My pasta however (bucatini & clams) was only okay. The sauce was very liquidy and quite honestly it still tasted like the sea. They could have done a better job seasoning/combining the flavors of that sauce/broth so it wasn't as if I was drinking ocean water. For dessert, I was drawn to the chocolate mousse cake. It was delicious, though for mousse cake I was expecting it to be lighter than it was - didn't affect the taste, just not what I was expecting. The texture was more reminiscent of a dense cheesecake rather than a mousse cake. Service- very friendly and attentive staff. Obviously had a waiter assigned to our table/section, but other waiters and bus staff still walked around often to check in. A waiter not assigned to us even asked if we wanted refills on our drinks when our actual assigned waiter was taking care of others. Ambiance- restaurant is in a basement, so no windows. With it being underground and dark already, I'm not sure why they choose to keep it so dim.... I wish it was juuuust slightly brighter. Overall - we have heard great things about this place and it lived up to it. My specific pasta choice just didn't hit for me perfectly, but there was plenty of other tasty looking options I would have gotten. I look forward to trying this place again! We visited on a busy 1st Friday night to celebrate and try a new spot. We were both impressed. We began with their bruschetta, a limoncello martini and an espresso martini. The sweet bite of balsamic and tomato reduced to a very flavorful starter. We chose Chicken Parmesan and the Crab and Lobster Ravioli. The chicken was crispy and tender with a beautiful fresh tomato sauce. The ravioli were delicious with a creamy truffle brandy cream sauce that I would purchase by the gallon if I could. Service was attentive, timely and pleasant. It was a bit loud with chatter due to being a popular spot. Overall, a wonderful experience. We'll be back. read more

Stopped here for dinner after a long day working a convention. Places in this area tend to close early by most Saturday standards, so we had to motor to get there. In terms of parking - it's street parking. When we were there they had the street blocked off for a festival of some type? So we parked about 5 blocks down. Located downstairs in a hotel, the space is very bright, large open area with clear glass metal and wood accents. Ordered a mixed drink just bc I felt like I had just gave birth to an accountant with working 10hrs straight, and a diet cola. We each chose an appetizer: bruschetta, margherita flatbread, and calamari. The bruschetta was really underwhelming - as it was presented as the bread with a shmear of ricotta with the grape tomatoes and balsamic in a cup to be put on by me. If I'm paying, I don't want to become a sous chef and be put to work. In addition, there wasn't enough of it to go on the 4 pieces. The flatbread was standard to me - a little heavy on the sauce, so much so that the cheese slid right off. The calamari was also standard issue as well. For my entree I went with the chicken parmigiana, which was very good - pasta was a little small and slightly over cooked but the chicken was a decent size and thin just the way it should be. For dessert I decided to not get the lemon cream cake and went with the chocolate mousse cake. It was good, but why I strayed from my usuals I will never know. Our waiter Joel? was very attentive and accommodating, gave us some tips on the menu and made the meal fairly seamless. Would come back and/or recommend this place. read more

One of my favorite spots in Phoenixville, this location features subterranean dining in an environment that is fun and lively, but not without a sense of mystery. The aesthetic is cozy and modern, but definitely definitely has a modern vibe to it. The food is always excellent; although our favorite way to order is to share multiple items from the appetizer menu. We really enjoy the calamari, the meatballs, and the flatbread. The Il Granaio Flatbread is particularly tasty - featuring pancetta, Gorgonzola, and mushrooms. For dessert , Il Granaio is one of the few places around that still serves tartufo. Along with the tiramisu, it would not be out of line to come here simply for the after-dinner options. Services is always friendly and attentive, without ever imparting a feeling of being rushed. I appreciate that my servers give me time to enjoy the meal and also understand the importance of spacing out the different courses. Il Granaio is versatile enough to bring children, work colleagues, dates, or friends. The prices are a bit above average, but certainly not out of line for a restaurant at this tier. Phoenixville has a lot of good options for food and drink, and you can't go wrong with Il Granaio. Highly recommend. read more

My husband and I enjoyed our cozy late night dinner here on a whim when we found ourselves in downtown Phoenixville. The restaurants is nestled right along Bridge Street. We felt the service was quick but lacked a bit in terms of a warm and friendly greeting. It was only about 8:30 pm so not too late. We enjoyed bread and the unique dipping they provided. Maybe because it was 8:30 but the bread seemed not as fresh as what you would expect. Our server recommended the meatballs and the polenta which were amazing! We enjoyed the vibe and the unique flavors of the dishes. Next time we come I would love to sit outside and try the fettuccine or the penne ala vodka. read more
