They made the most amazing cake that I've ever seen for my little monster's 2nd birthday. We literally gave them a picture of what we wanted the cake to look like and it was like they took the picture and blew it up into a cake lol. The cake looked so good that we didn't even want to eat it but it not only looked good, it taste good as well. I'm not a big cake fan but the cake was so light and fluffy that I actually had 3 or 4 pieces. They definitely will have my business for life if we need a cake for any occasion. Let me first say that because my extended family is Filipino, Delite cakes are nearly always served at birthdays and other special events, so I have tasted my fair share. The cakes are soft and not too sugary sweet, and Delite is a perfect place to find traditional Filipino favorites like ube, mocha and buko pandan. That being said. . . BEWARE!!! When ordering a cake make sure the person taking your order spells back the message clearly over the phone. I ordered a cake this week for a baby shower and clearly spelled the baby's named to be written on said cake. (When taking the order the woman said twice, "Happy Birthday. . ." I said, "No! This isn't a birthday cake!" TWICE.) When my friend arrived to pick up the cake the name was spelled wrong. Did they fix it? NOPE. Instead they waved an order slip in front of my friend's face showing the name INCORRECTLY spelled. I will NEVER order another cake. (Might I add that I recall my cousin's wedding cake nine years ago with BOTH names spelled wrong!!! AY NAKU!) Maybe it would help if you speak Tagalog, but I'm not sure as I unfortunately only speak English. And might I add that my friend who picked up the cake (she is Caucasian but is married to a Filipino and has a large extended Filipino family) said that the staff proceeded to speak Tagalog during this whole transaction without speaking to her. She perceived this as poor customer service, and also stated that they always treat her this way when she shops there. I think they make the best ube cake I've tasted across Seattle. Order it with the custard filling instead of the regular fluffy white frosting and you'll know why. I learned this from one of my best friends who actually had this as her bachelorette, wedding AND birthday cake haha. Best pan de sal* in all of Seattle, OK well it's the only place I've ever bought them from but they are good, damn good. As odd as it might sound pan de sal is some what of a comfort food for me. Every Christmas my dad cooks a big ham and than for days after we'd eat leftover warm (not hot) ham and cheese sandwiches on pan de sal rolls, these might be some of the best sandwiches ever created in my parent's kitchen I tell you. And buying a dozen from Delite Bakery the other day made me happy, I still have two left, they probably need to be tossed but I won't do that until I pick up another dozen to replace them and for $1.95 a dozen it's ok if I throw two out. Plus I need to wait until I pick up some more ham and cheese to make more little pan de sal sandwiches. Just went here for a wedding cake tasting. Currently living in CA but having my wedding in Seattle this summer. I came all the way here over the weekend and this place has horrible customer service with mediocre wedding cake. They stuffed 5 different wedding cakes in a "to go" type box, we paid $15.00 and that was it. There was no "consulting" involved at all. The wedding cake was just ok. I had high hopes for the taro and pandan cake but they tasted like something I could have made out of a box...no flavor at all. The other cakes were just ok too but what I believe to be their butter cream frosting was pretty good. When I went to speak with the cashier girl and ask her some questions about pricing she said "I told you you would not be able to talk to the baker today." She did mention the baker might be busy when I called to make an appointment but I thought that was kind of rude that she said that. When I asked her if she had any ideas about pricing and about how many people the display cake could feed she said "I don't know" and that was it. WEIRD. read more

This is one of my go-to cake places, especially if i want to bring something different because of their unique Filipino cakes, either the Ube (yam) or Pandan Cake. The pandan cake is green and has a bit of coconut. I love how their cakes are light and tasty where you don't feel all gross and full of sugar like with some other cakes. also, when i was picking up the cake i couldn't help but see the the pork and chicken baos. i forgot the filipino name. got some of those too and they were delicious. and then of course, i have to pick up a bag of Pan de Sol bread rolls for breakfast. put those in the oven, smother in butter, and dip in coffee. I am reviewing only their custom cakes - I have not tried any of the baked goods (they did look delicious!). While the bakery's fresh baked goods looked great, our cake experience was below expectations. I had emailed via their website to arrange a cake tasting & consultation, and all went fine with scheduling. The odd part was when we arrived to the bakery. We went to the counter and told the lady that we were there for a cake tasting. She immediately went off on us, saying that we had to schedule that ahead of time. I told her that we did schedule it, and we had an appointment at 8AM (we were 10 minutes early). I didn't expect to get helped right away since we were early, so when I told her we had the appointment she said okay and walked off, and we sat down to wait. She soon called us over by the register, holding a to-go box with several cakes in it, and my name on a note on the top. She just handed it to me (no fork or explanation), so I said, "Oh, so I guess we just take this to-go and then get in touch later"? She said ok and rang me up. We got home and tried the cakes, which were okay. They had a very soft texture and light frosting that was nice, but the flavors were very faint so really the only way we distinguished the cakes was by the colors. The chocolate and red velvet were good (not like WOW good, but good), and the rest we didn't really know what the flavor was. Then a couple hours later, I see I have a voicemail on my phone and the lady from the counter had called me and went off on me again, saying that the cake decorator had been waiting for us and that we did not say we had an appointment (which I had explicitly told her when we first arrived). After that, even if the cakes were delicious, I would not be confident enough in their dependability to use them for my wedding day. If we are in the area, we very well may go back to get some pastries or bread from their counter, that all looked very yummy and the prices are good. We went in to get a vegan doughnut for a friend's 17th birthday and they made a doughnut cake for her right there. They went above and beyond and it was gorgeous! Absolutely DELITEFUL! This is truly a hidden gem in the Beacon Hill neighborhood, literally in the corner of Beacon Ave. and 15th. I swear it's by far one of the best Filipino Bakeries here. If you like Tofu, they have this really yummy concoction called Taho which is a sugary, syrupy, tofu pudding with tapioca. The closest thing to having the original taho they sell on the streets in the Philippines (in the metal tins). I love their little hopia's (mung bean pastries) they're bite sized and really dense, better than the super oily ones that they have at other Filipino Bakeries here. And, they're ube macapuno cake and mocha cakes which comes in sheets and rolls, you have to try it! Sinfully delicious, moist, and just the right sweetness in the icing. YUMMY!!! As far as service goes, super sweet ladies manning the counter, and always smiling. I would too if I was always surrounded by cookies, cakes, and pastries. Yay for a Filipino bakery! Childhood favorites are found here and I'm super psyched because sometimes I just don't find the time to source and make some of these goodies I enjoy on my own. First off, pan de sal is available here by the loads. They also have turon, fried to that yummy crisp and sight sugar glaze. With a slice of jackfruit. Karioka is available on Fridays after 11am for those that appreciate the fried mochi rice flour dessert favorite. There also a variety of your typical donuts and baked cakes which are also available for catering requests. If you need some caffeine with your dessert, they have drip coffee available. Be ready to get a little more for a darn good price point since they have a $10 minimum for their credit card. That's like 6 turon and a coffee or whatever combo you fancy. They have a little parking lot and some street parking nearby. Sorry, no public restrooms. There's some barstool style seating up against the wall. Not a lot to hold but you still have a little sitting area if you wanted to hang out for a bit. Most of the time we load up and take the goodies to go for a potluck or snack at a park nearby. If you venture to the far end on the other side of the register you will find similar cakes that you'd find at Goldilocks, I.e rolled ube cakes. I bought some pan de sal, pan de leche, pan de coco, spanish style (obviously I'm no longer on Atkins!) and every single piece was fresh and delicious! Their ube cakes are the reason I come here. I like cake but I do not like overly sweet cakes and frostings. I get headaches if I eat anything with buttercream frosting. They use whipped cream frosting which is not sweet at all and it compliments the ube/macapuno cakes perfectly. They do have buttercream frosting if you wish to have your cake frosted with it. My husband loves the apple turnovers and doughnuts here, particularly the maple bar and sugar donuts. They are huge and delicious. They also have hopia, carioca, sylvanias, pan de sal, pan del leche and so much more. I buy taho every once in awhile. I have given this bakery 3 chances. As much as I would like to like their baked goods, it never happened. Not sure why people rave about their ube products... I tried their ube buns and ube cake. Both were disappointing, if not disguisting. The purple stuff they had as the filling in their "ube" buns was merely some tasteless purple sticky jello-like stuff that tasted nothing like ube but a sugary paste. Their "ube" cake was just a big piece of plain cake that was purple. In fact, the cake itself was next to tasteless. Even generic sponge cakes you get from QFC or Safeway taste better than their "ube" cake. Neither the "ube" buns or "ube" cake taste anything like ube at all... Meandering around Seattle today, I found myself jonesin' for some pecan pie. My recent run-ins with pecan pie in this city have been less than stellar. My expectations are high for this particular dessert and sadly no place in Seattle has come close to what my Southern fried taste buds have come to know has a taste of home. But lo and behold...Delite Bakery knocks it out of the park. Albeit on a much smaller scale, but still delicious, and more importantly, they get it right. I'm sure the other pastries are good, as well. I've had many of their baked goods growing up, like pan de coco (if you're a fan of coconut, you HAVE to HAVE TO HAVE TO HAVE TO have this), and pan de sal. And all were enough to make my taste buds say "more more more" and my physique to say, "stop it, you're only getting doughier." Pun? Yes, please! And coffee for a buck and some change?! Sign me up!! It's quite difficult for me to believe that it took me 26 years to make it to Delite Bakery. Glad I finally made it. I absolutely love this place. Brittany is an artist! She has done amazing customs cakes for all the birthday parties. She puts an efforts on every detail. I have done 3 cakes so far and you can judge for the pictures that the cakes are fantastic. Not only they look great, they are also very tasty, not too sweet. This is my absolute Go to place for any custom cake. If you wonder about the price, I would say is moderate. Around $8 to $14 per person depending on the cake. Here's the scoop: -Ube (taro) buns (individual sized, 5 in a pack): LOVE THESE! -Ube (taro) big roll (size of a banana bread loaf): okay, but prefer the buns because it's sweeter and has more ube and the bun is softer -Apple fritter: my favorite! It's the best fritter I've tried. Way better than top pot! -Croissant: huge, and good, not super buttery but still delicious -Bear claw: YUMMMMM!!!! amazing almond flavor. Big as yo face! -Taro cake (as in birthday cake): i used to love this, but through the years I haven't liked it as much. Not sure if their cake chef changed or if my tastebuds changed. It's not as sweet and fluffly as i remember and i don't like the frosting that is used throughout. -chicken (or pork) steamed buns: they're okay -buns with cream on top: my family likes these a lot, i don't love the frosting -i don't know what these are called but they are 2 inch in diameter little flaky pastries with custard inside: pretty delicious. -old fashion and maple bars: delicious standards! My boyfriend wanted an ube cake for his birthday, and with some research, I concluded that this was the place to go. I placed an order for and half sheet ube cake with seahawks themed design ($60). It was perfect and done very neatly. And the cake itself, so good! Very light and moist. The best part of my experience would have to be the customer service. The cake decorator was very accommodating about my cake design with the time crunch that I had. And even more of a time crunch, the day I was going to pick up the cake I had a million errands to run and I was running behind on picking up the cake. I called and notified them that I was on the way and the ladies that were working would stay later for me. I finally arrived there and they were finishing closing the shop down. They let me in, after hours, to pick up my cake. I was so greatful to them. I've worked at a bakery and honestly that shit would've pissed me off lol but they were so sweet and I tipped them well, best believe. I will definitely order from them again, and will give further notice when I want more detailed designs on my cake. Such a sweet company, no pun intended. I've gone out of my way to avoid Delite Bakery for years. Not because it's bad, but because I've heard it was so good. I walk my dog every morning and we try to steer clear of this place because it smells so good even from blocks away. Giant doughnuts and eclairs, chewy karioka, creamy leche flan, and, my favorite, fresh chocolate croissants - what more could you ask for? I've only ever ordered their items in their display case, but the cakes they make here are beautiful, and from what I can tell based on what I have eaten, they must be delicious too. The bakery itself is a small building, and there isn't much of lobby area, so it can get crowded really quickly. I've noticed that the staff here don't really help people based on the order that they show up in the store, but more based on whoever talks to them first. This is sort of annoying when you're the first person in there and the last person helped, but the food is worth the wait. Everything is also very inexpensive. Items range from about 50 cents to 2 dollars, and I usually get a bag full of goodies for under 10 bucks. I recently purchased my son's birthday cake here. It was an awesome cake, and pretty tasty as well! We chose a 1/4 sheet pandan cake (the green one), which was light and not overly sweet. The total was $41. My only complaint is with their communication. When I first called them, expressing interest in a birthday cake, I asked if they did cake tastings of the different flavors. The employee told me yes, and that the $15 dollar tasting could be applied toward the final cake price. Awesome! I decided it was worth a drive to Beacon hill from the east side. Then when I called to order our cake, a different employee told me that only applies for cakes over a certain price ($140 I believe). When I told him what I'd been told, he just repeated only over a certain price. In short, I didn't feel like that was very good customer service, since their employees were giving out different information. I probably would have skipped the tasting if the initial info had been accurate. I'm literally scooping out some of the fillings, it's too much for me. I wish that there's more of the coconut though. The macapuno did not really pop. The cake itself is spongy and moist. Thank baby jeesus for this bakery. I love all the highfalutin bakeries out there, but I'm a frugal student. I can't pay $4 for a cute brioche, and call it a day. Skip the donuts, and go for the real deal. Salad-plate sized Ensaymada, if the cheese ain't your thing, go for the Butter bread. If you want something not as sweet, do the Raisin bread. I always get the Pan de sal & Pan de leche rolls when I stop in. You just do. They prefer cash, so bring some or go cross the street to the ATM. You can use a card, but a 50 cent charge gets added. And paying merchant services is not cheap. They work hard, and keep their prices low so you can enjoy almost everything and still get $10 in change after handing a $20. Being Filipino, I can honestly say this is one of the best Pinoy Bakeries I have ever been to. I don't know where to begin as to what exactly to order, but I love their siopao, which others would know as "humbao", Taho (sweet tofu in syrup), Karioka (deep fried sugar and dough balls), Turon (deep fries banana in brown sugar), Pan de Ube, Egg Pie, Empanada (bread with pork and vegetable inside), Pan de Sal sandwich (tastes a bit like the "Lady's Choice spread from the Philippines) and Hopia (any kind is delicious). A schizophrenic assortment filled the huge case (even at the late hour of 6pm) of eclairs, baklava, fried bananas, traditional doughnuts & more. Giddy with thoughts of sugar we each picked one out. I was tasked, last minute, to buy a sheet cake for my coworker's retirement party. Less than 48 hours prior to the party, i called the store and asked if I could pick up a half sheet cake in 26 hours. A half sheet cake, Asian fruit cake, turned out to be $64. When I first moved to Beacon Hill several friends recommended Delite to me. Being the sweets addict I am I quickly ran up the hill to check it out. Ever since I have been hooked on Delite! I fell in love with their many Filipino sweets including purple ube (yam) cake, turon (banana egg roll) and the deep fried rice balls (forgot the Filipino name). First off, it smells absolutely heavenly inside, and the spotless glass cases are filled with a fantastic assortment of sweet yummies. I could have lingered for a long time, but it's likely that standing there and salivating might have been vaguely frowned upon, which is not to say that the service wasn't friendly, it absolutely was. My go-to bakery when I'm in desperate need of something sweet and affordable. A few of my favorite treats: 1) Ube cake rolls (Ube = purple yam). It's sweet and you get a couple servings of vegetables if you finish the entire thing. 2) Yema balls (probably not the actual name). They look like 4 donut holes on a skewer. The insides are chewy and the outside is coated with a nice sugary/crunchy glaze. Great to grab and go! 3) Butter cream bun (probably not the actual name either). It looks like a huge round bun covered with a huge amount of butter cream and topped off with sugar (I like to top it off with MORE sugar when I get it home). This alone helps me stay warm in the wintertime. 4) Slice of a Black forest cake: The cake is moist and the frosting is plentiful. Additional note: The birthday/wedding cakes here are really affordable as well. I had a 3-tiered cake decked out with red rose petals and was very satisfied with the taste, design, and cost. Additional additional note: You can find many of their products at Asian grocery stores but I suggest getting the fresh ones at the bakery.
