I think they're all right, but they kind of taste like store-bought, to be honest. You can get the same quality if you just buy them store-bought and prepare them nicely. Found this Destination Dumplings stand during the NYC hot sauce expo. Usually dumpling sauce comes with the purchase of dumplings, this is the first spot I see charge an extra $2. I felt like that was a rip off so I skipped. I like how the jerk dumplings were garnished with pieces of pineapple, but the jerk chicken didn't have that jerk flavor for me. Could have had a better kick, probably would have been better if I had a sauce to go with it. I had better. There was also a Destination Tacos stand with the same $2 up buy gimmick to add cheese. Usually guac is the only topping you have to pay extra for. Although they were juicy, I feel like it's such a scam. read more

Ill be honest, out of all the tents we tried at Smorgasborg, these were my least favorite offerings of the bunch. They do have a unique variety of dumplings ranging from Jerk Chicken to Korean Beef. My friend and I decided to pick up some chicken and Peking Duck dumplings which considering the crowd, did not take too long to obtain! The chicken ones were serviceable. Good flavor, soft wrapping. I did wish they were a bit juicier. The peking duck were a disappointment however. Normally duck offerings are the best a menu can offer, but these ones fell flat. Not much flavor, a bit dry. The hoisin sauce on top was very much needed. Overall, if they're you're only choice in the area, by all means, support! But maybe look elsewhere for dumplings if the opportunity arises. read more

My two cents would be to get on line EARLY if you're trying to have these at smorgasburg because they sell out very fast! And for good reason! Just be aware of the fact that you're probably going to end up waiting no matter what time you go because this place is really popular. We got the edamame dumplings with the pickled beet on top. Not only are they aesthetically pleasing, but they taste AMAZING!!! They're so fresh and warm, made right in front of you and have a great authentic flavor. I will be back for more! Stopped by Smorgasburg in Williamsburg and decided to fry these as the flavors sounded really interesting and they seemed popular based on the line. I ordered the Korean beef and pork & chive dumplings and it came with 4 of each. At over $2 a dumpling my expectations were pretty high and sadly, I was really disappointed. The dumplings were super tough and chewy and there was very little filling (for both kinds). My order did come out really fast so maybe they just didn't have enough time to cook? I would recommend trying some of the other dumpling options at the event. read more

Stumbled upon them while they were at the Tuesday Hudson Yards Smorgasburg. If you're coming out of the Hudson Yards station turn left away from the vessel to find the mini Smorgasburg!!! Came at 5:45pm-ish and they were still serving but all of Smorgasburg closed around 6:45pm. The Tuesday staff was friendly and said they also travel to other Smorgasburg weekday locations. The dumplings were juicy, warm and delicious. We used Apple Pay so we got 40% off our order! The Korean beef ones were my fave over the regular pork and chive (which were also great). I purchased 2 orders of dumplings from Destination Dumpling's pop-up in Bryant Park. The Peking duck portion was small, on the drier side but generally had fine sauce. The jerk chicken dumpling was tasty and spicy, but fell apart quite easily. The real problem with Destination Dumplings is that the prices are downright insulting. at the current moment it costs $9 for an order of 5 dumplings that are 50-75% the size of what you would expect from your run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurant ($10 for the Peking Duck). For comparison of NYC dumpling prices I will quote the current market rate for two institutions where I have consumed dumplings of equal or higher quality: Mimi Cheng's: 8 Dumplings for $13.15 ($1.64 a dumpling) - some of the best dumplings I have eaten. Also a very creative approach! Vanessa's Dumplings: 4 Dumplings for $2.50 ($0.63 a dumpling). From my visit, the goal of Destination Dumpling's is to profit off of those visiting Bryant Park during the holiday season rather than provide quality, creative food at a reasonable price. I cannot advise against this pop-up enough. read more

Had the chance to try this truck out at the Governors Ball. We sampled their pork dumplings and they were alright, nothing fantastic. It was $15 for just 4 of their dumplings which was a little expensive, even for a festival in my opinion. They weren't anything to write home about, but they weren't bad. I found the wrapper to be a little thicker than what I'm used to for a dumpling which made it a little tough to chew. The soy sauce they had tasted a little funky as well, not in a good way. Was able to finally check out the Smorgasburg WTC location, which is not that far from my job, so knowing I can come here every Friday make me so happy. So dumplings, my coworker and I shared the "Around the world" sampler (Korean beef, Peking duck, edamame, jerk chicken and classic pork). Which cost $23 for 12 dumplings. Really disappointed with these dumplings. I ordered the set of 5 Korean Beef dumplings. They were pretty expensive ($9 for 5 dumplings) and not really worth it. The filling was dry and SUPER salty. So. Much. Salt. It came with a sauce drizzled on top and was sprinkled with sesame seeds, so that was nice, but it did not help balance out the saltiness.
