First time taking CalTrain at the San Bruno station this morning and it was a good experience…read more The platform for riding the trains are upstairs and there are 2 sides-southbound to SF and northboud to San Jose. For parking, you need to have the parking number that is painted on the ground and key it into the machine when paying. Parking is $5.50 a day and tickets can be purchased at the ticket machines upstairs on the platform. You can also purchase CalTrain tickets at these machines or tap your clipper card on the black kiosks. As far as cleanliness of the station and trains, they are generally kept clean and well maintained. CalTrain is definitely more expensive than Bart but they are usually on schedule with times and there are restrooms on the train. The newer trains even have power outlets so you can charge your devices.

The MB shuttle is FREE. Can I get an AMEN? Today was the first day and I took full advantage of it. There are several stops around the Mission Bay Area including UCSF, Berry Street, Walgreens, and Cal-Train. The Shuttle begins and ends at the Powell Street Bart Station (stop is by Walgreens on Market). Shuttle runs every 15 min - half an hour or so. You can find their schedule on-line. Basically it runs M-F from 7-10:30am & 3:45-8pm. Perfect for work schedules! Shuttle is very spacious with A/C and Comfy Padded Seats. It took me less time to get to Downtown than it was riding on Muni - obviously there are less stops. It is still fairly new so there are no permanent Mission Bay Shuttle Signs posted. There are just temporary ones or none at all, so I highly recommend downloading a PDF of their schedule and route. I am so thankful for this. It totally beats unreliable MUNI. Now, Baseball season and backed up trains, stuck trains underground, and MUNI fights are a thing of the past. Did I mention that it is FREE?

I have stopped using the Mission Bay shuttles after the schedule and route change that happened at…read morethe beginning of August. The accuracy of times and reliability have completely plummeted, and this is no longer a good service. I realize that the service is free so you can't really complain, but I just want to note my experience and say to not waste your time. You're much better off paying for another service than using this one. Route and Stop Changes - Caltrain to Powell stop has moved from in front of Walgreens to across the street in between 4th and 5th. - Powell stop has moved from in front of the Michael Kors store on Market St. to in front of Bloomingdale's on Mission St. Times The shuttles just don't come on time anymore. Also, the NextBus app is not tracking the times accurately either. There have been multiple times when the app said the shuttle is 2 minutes away, and the shuttle ended up coming 5-10 minutes later or sometimes not at all (I waited at least 10 more minutes before completely giving up). This combined with the new stops where I have to go more out of my way makes for a huge inconvenience when the shuttle doesn't show up, and I have to completely change my plans. The one time that the shuttle did show up (almost 10 minutes late), the driver did not pull up to the sidewalk. He stayed in the most left lane on Townsend and expected me to cross the bike lane and right lane to get to him during rush hour! WTF. After stupidly trying and almost getting hit by bikers, I went back to the sidewalk to see if he would move back over to the right lane. He didn't even make an attempt, so I walked away and headed to the Muni bus instead. This whole experience made me furious at the poor service and safety standards of the shuttle service now.

Even better if those friends are available to drive you to the airport after you self-park at their home but sometimes those friends have jobs and aren't available to haul you to the airport. Thankfully, they still don't mind if you use their home as your own personal Park N' Fly. Bay Cities Taxi accepts on-line reservations (can also be made via phone) and follows up with a confirmation. I was skeptical that this system would work as it's supposed to but it did. I'd parked and unloaded my car and was just beginning to get antsy about whether anyone would actually show up (5 minutes before scheduled arrival time) when I saw the Bay Cities Taxi (okay, minivan) chugging downhill in my direction. Not just on-time but even a little bit early. Fears allayed. The minivan wasn't fancy or even in particularly stellar condition (I've grown used to the pristine taxis grabbed at the John Wayne Airport) but it did the job. The driver even asked whether we wanted to schedule an airport pick-up. He was courteous, hauled my bags into and out of the van, and most important, was timely and safe. Bay Cities is a legit taxi service not disrupting any existing businesses. Old school is okay by me, especially when it works like clockwork and I exit with both eye sockets intact.

I booked a Taxi to pick us up from home at 7pm. 6:56pm the driver called the number we provided to say he was waiting outside for us whenever we're ready. The driver was really friendly throughout the journey and got us to our terminal in a very timely manner. Couldn't have been a better experience. On our return though we also booked a Taxi to pick us up from SFO only when we got out of the terminal there was no taxi to be seen. A quick call to the office and we were told that the driver had picked someone up. Grrr! I don't know if it was the drivers incompetence that he just picked up the first person he saw or that the person he picked up said they were us. Either way, I wasn't impressed as it was gone 10pm (1am the time we were on) and I really wasn't in the mood to be stood in the cold waiting but the person on the phone apologized and said they would get one straight to us. Remembering that their website states ''Guaranteed on time or free ride'' my husband inquired ''would it actually be free'' and we told that ''yes, it would be''. This made me feel a little better as it's not often you find company's that stick to their claims. The new driver turned up pretty quickly - about 15 minutes and despite it not being his fault was very apologetic and we actually discovered that he had been at home asleep when he got the urgent to call to come and collect us. Poor guy. Despite this mix up with our return journey I will definitely use Bay Cities Taxi Cab again should I need to. They rectified the problem straight away and honored their claims. We spent 6 nights touring the city and learning all about Gaudi by foot, bike and Segway. Then off to spectacular beaches and chill time with the family on our own and in tours. Kelly at Family Travel is amazing. We had planned a family trip, with our son, daughter and their…read morefamilies. Ten of us all together. We wanted to go to DisneyWorld in Orlando and end with a 7 day cruise on the ICON of the seas, leaving from Miami. Two trips in one. Kelly, with her expertise, took care of EVERY detail, for both trips. There were times, I would be overwhelmed with decisions, details, etc., but, Kelly always took charge, covering every base and calming my nerves. Before we left, Kelly had given all of us a detailed itinerary, outlining every day. She literally thought of everything, even down to making sure we had car seats in every car we took. So nice for our daughter, to not have to lug around their own car seats. To be able to get on the plane to begin our trip, and to have confidence that everything had been taken care of and all we had to do was have a good time, was such a gift that only Kelly can do. I can never thank Kelly enough, not only taking care of ALL our travel needs, but, giving us a trip of a lifetime with such wonderful memories. Thank Kelly !!
