I booked this place on AirBnB for back in February, and then there were blizzards. I reached out to…read moreLuis and Manuel to see if I could change the date. There was some confusion because I didn't know I had to manually cancel my reservation on Airbnb, but they were very accommodating, and facilitated a date change to this past weekend. The room is cozy and cute - very clean, with a Keurig that was thoughtfully pre-filled, and plenty of coffee pods and tea. There is also a fridge and microwave in the room, and a couch that looks like it pulls out to sleep two more people (in addition to the queen bed). 4 people to the room would be...really cozy. I could have done it in my 20s, but probably not now. LOL. Check-in process was very easy, with the key in a hideaway with a code that was emailed to me prior. Overall, it was a really lovely stay, and there are plenty of opportunities to take pictures of the main lemon house, as well as the random fun sculpture peppering the property.

Been driving this corridor for decades and over the last ten years have driven by this place often and always comment on the lemon house. Who doesn't.!?! Looking back at the old pictures confirms what I felt while there. This family cares about their property and are constantly improving. Smooth cement and lots of outdoor lounge space is available. Gas grills for BBQing and the one even has an oven. Plenty of parking just don't be ridiculous like me and get stuck on a tree stump! But not to worry they removed it that night... haha Stayed here a few times now and the family that runs this has been amazingly kind and accommodating!!! We will always be back.

12/10/21 My first…read moretime driving from LA to Reno on the 395, I was worried about the snow. Good news: it was a beautiful, easy scenic drive! There were only 2 sections of this drive that had snow, so thankful as I will be taking the 95 to Vegas soon. For everyone else following and doing this drive, Bishop City is the best and most affordable (Gas) place to drive. Of course do NOT stop at the first gas station you see because they will be the most expensive. Quality/Quantity - In my youth, we would NEVER stop at these rest areas; it was always Starbucks or fast food. These rest areas are much easier to go in and out! I save $$$ and I don't end up over-caffeination or eating excessive amounts of fast food. I am glad to find a rest stop, it is very basic here, but again I do not need much. Atmosphere - Good to be able to take a break on a long drive. Don't expect much here. Service - None Price - FREE!!!!!! Owner Suggestion - Our tax $ at work, thank you.

The AC absolutely cranks, which was heaven after being out in the heat all day. The owners have added so many thoughtful touches: toothbrushes, single-use toothpaste, makeup remover wipes, bath gels, plus a mini fridge and microwave in the room. When I checked in, I was greeted with bottled water, fruit, and cookies, such a kind welcome after a long day. There are also cute patios with hanging lights where you can sit and eat takeout, and there's even a homemade ice cream shop right next door with a really vibey outdoor patio. One of the owners mentioned a nearby trail just behind the motel, and I'm so glad I listened. I ended up walking through the beautiful Mary DeDecker native plant garden alongside a babbling creek with little bridges and an incredible sunset view over the mountain ridge. It turned into one of the highlights of my trip. This place may not look like much from the outside, but it has heart, kindness, and everything you actually need for a peaceful stay.

At the time of booking, I was told someone would 'call next year to take payment'. Nobody called. I have decided not to stay there, so I called to release the room and the woman answering the phone not only put me on hold, rudely and abruptly, tells me, "Nobody was going to call, if you didn't get the email then you don't have a room." I said, "This could have been very upsetting if I was calling to make payment, and the room wasn't held for me, because I was told I would get a call." Instead of saying, "I am so sorry Ma'am, I don't know who told you this but I assure you we will make sure the other reservationists know not to tell people this, and that to be sure to have you look for an email." But instead she was RUDE and so I hung up. GOOD GRIEF! She needs an attitude adjustment. She shouldn't be on the phones. She's impolite. She doesn't realize that people view the Dow Hotel by the treatment they receive and it starts at the beginning, ....at the front desk.

I prefer the sink not be completely separate from the restroom, but I understand it allows two tenants to accomplish two different tasks simultaneously. . The walls are thin, so you can hear neighbors having conversation by your window. Earplugs can help drown out the noise. I stayed one night: $151.20 total

It's an easy walk to several nice restaurants, including a local pizzeria. The service was kind and customer friendly and the room was clean and quiet. This was perfect for my plan to take some stunning photographs. The Timberline was my base camp for two days and allowed me very central access to my planned (and unplanned) shots. This is a truly beautiful part of the country with so many sights to see. Manzanar, the Bristlecone Pine National Forest, Alabama Hills movie settings, portal to My. Whitney, etc. I had a lovely stay here and highly recommend this comfy, convenient lodging.
