This is my family's second time coming to Detroit Auto Body. The first time was for my sister's RAV4 that was hit on the front side. Just like my sister, I had a wonderful experience. I got rear ended on May 6th. Progressive asked me what shop I'd like to take my car too and I knew immediately I had to come here. Randy was a joy to work with. He did his best to take care of me and my car despite me being rattled and sad from my accident. Randy explained the whole process and he also kept me up to date with all procedures. He gave me a finish date and it ended up being finished early! My car looks better than when it went in! I had an issue with a brake light as I was driving but Randy was amazing to fix it before I left. I was shown pictures of the damage inside my vehicle and the process of painting/color matching the car. I love this place. After my insurance wanted me to check Detroit Auto Body, the receptionist came and flat out told me without giving me any time to speak that they can't paint nor fix my auto exterior due to paint is not original from the factory and yet, I went to the other shops and had no issues with it and is recognized from my auto company. This place is amazing! I was in LA for work and while there was involved in an accident. My custom lifted 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited suffered a Broken custom wheel, broken rearend housing, axle, brakes and suspension components. They towed it and not only repaired it to perfect condition but also during a multipoint inspection discovered some shady maintenance that my local dealership had done about a broken motormount and leaky pan gasket. Do NOT take your car here. They are dishonest and will charge up the ass for nonsense. I came in for an estimate on a dent on my quarter panel and was quoted $676.00. The amount isn't the problem though, hear me out. The list of charges they gave me, verbatim : Repair - RT Quarter panel, Add for Clear Coat Color sand and buff Tint Color Remove/Install - R&I rear bumper RT Combo lamp assy Rt side Trunk interior trim Cover Car This all added up to 11.7 hours of labor time, totaling $526.50. Tack on the materials and paint -- another $134.40. It wasn't a substantial sized dent by any means, so I figured additional opinions were in order. I ended up taking my car to another shop and was floored! I kid you not, I cannot make this up. An associate came out, looked at my dent, and said, "You know, I can probably just pop this out. Let's see if you get lucky today." He pulled back the lining in my trunk and popped it out with his fucking hand. No trace of the dent whatsoever. I walked away having paid nothing. So tell me something.. How in the hell were these guys charging for taking off the rear bumper, inner lining, tail lights, and all the other crap -- when they didn't need to in the first place! I get it, it's a business. You gotta make money. Whatever. BUT, on top of that, charging to repaint the ENTIRE quarter panel for one small dent? Give me a damn break. A repaint wasn't even needed! I got my dent repaired without paying for all the nonsense they tacked on. I'm sure the estimator knew the dent could be popped out, but instead of being honest, they completely bullshitted an R.O. I can't speak on the quality of their repairs simply because I refused to get ripped off. I am, however, calling them out on their blatant dishonesty and ridiculous pricing. Let this be a warning to all prospective customers. read more

Had my car done here about two years ago. Everything looked good, minus the car being ready 6 days after promised, and the insurance company refusing to pay the extra days. They offered to reimburse me after, but I didn't bother. (i was hit by the other car. Not Detroit's fault per say, but they could have been a little better with eta. They had the car in total about 25 days) The problems started about 3 weeks after getting the car back. The AC was not working at all. I take it back, they advise they didn't touch the condenser but could refill it for $100 or so, as that was the only issue. Confused as to how a new car could have that happen but not be from the accident...but... I take their word but refuse the refill. I take the car home and pull of the front end, and find obvious body hammer marks, straightening out the condenser, that they claimed they never touched. I take it back, and have to leave the car for 4 days, while waiting for them to check it out. They again, deny they touched the condenser. They tell me they tested it with the dye, and the condenser was fine and not leaking, but that the hoses were bad and needing changing and that was the issue. I take their word for it, and spend $600 on hoses from the dealer. I change them all in about 8 hours worth of my day. I take it to an AC shop and have it tested...the come back and tell me I still have a leak. They test it...are sure as hell....the condenser where it had the obvious hammer blows, was what was leaking. I have them check the original hoses that they said were leaking....they couldn't find a thing. I take it back....and of course, they won't take any responsibility as its now been 6 weeks since they did the work. Between the new hoses, having to pay for the new condenser that they should have fixed, missed work and refill....and for another rental car while the AC shop finished the work.... I am out $2200.... All because Detroit Auto Body couldn't take responsibility for forgetting to change my AC condenser. On top of that...the portion of the car they fixed....has a crack in it. read more

getting your car messed up, and going through the process of getting it fixed is never fun/ or easy. The situation of how i find detroit auto body is long, so i'll spare you the snooze tale. They are in progressive insurance network repair shop, so i decided give them a go. You don't need to go the network shops, but its helps with faster repairs (my opinion). Getting in a appointment on a short notice with Eddie was definitely easy, and communication with them was fluid, since there is no language difficulty with asian body shops. I brought car in on a monday since they don't operate on the weekends. Eddie gave me a rough time frame, when the estimator (Elvis) will give me call. When Elvis (not the singer) give me a call, and let me know the repairs/estimate will be. he was clear, and give me a email of the list too. I don't have rental coverage so i asked if they can try to get it repair in a expedite manner. Elvis said he'll do his best, and too my surprise a miracle happen, and it finished ahead of schedule. I liked how this place is clean, tidy, and in order. Some shops are just a mess, with oil stains, and equipment everywhere. Natural light gives a pleasant environment for the employee, and the waiting lounge for both estimate, and the other building for post repair are air conditioned. So try this place for your repair next time. I'm pleased with their work, and its a life time warranty(not sure how it works yet). read more
