For context, I recently moved to Long Beach and I've had haircuts in many countries before including Italy and France. Deaux Salon is on par and Kim did me SO good!! To start, I did a walk-in and Kim was nice enough to fit me in her schedule. To top it off, the quality of the haircut and blowdry is HIGH- she really took her time with the cut and was even giving me advice a long the way since my hair is on the thinner end. The full thing included a hair wash, a free hair treatment, wet cut, brow dry styling, and small finishing dry cuts. It was roughly 40-50 minutes but the quality shows. Great place for a quick men's cut or, for a woman to get a full blown cut, color and style. Because I wear my hair pretty short, I've been cutting my own hair for a while. Today, I decided to get my haircut at a 'local' shop that's close to my house. I chose 'Duex', as it's a nice, clean, small shop that's within walking distance from my home. The owner Kim greeted me and talked about what I was looking for. She provided very nice conversation, she put the TV on to music videos for me to watch and I swear, this is likely the BEST haircut I've had in a LONG time!!! Seriously. Then, to top it off, the cost of the haircut was more than reasonable!! ( I don't want to say how much, in case prices change) But trust me, more reasonable than ANY Barber Shop / Salon that I'm aware of. If you're looking for a nice quiet independent salon that does great work and charge reasonable prices, GO TO DUEX!!!! (Ask for Kim). When you're done with your haircut, you can grab a bite at Manaow Thai or, a coffee at the Library Coffee shop, both just down the street. read more

I hate the smocks, the mirrors showing my Gumby shaped head, the small talk and the anxiety of having other waiting customers thinking just finish with this troll and get to my hair. I am happy with how my hair turned out but do not recommend going here if you have anywhere to be for the rest of the day. I came in a 10am for a color, highlight, and cut and left at 2pm without a cut and my hair half dry because I was late to another appointment. She has trouble balancing more than one customer; the lady who came in at noon had to wait 20 minutes for her to finish my foils and then I waited another 20 minutes for her to finish the other customer before I got my toner put on. This caused hot roots because the old color that was on my hair didn't take the toner. However, she touched up the roots and I left satisfied although my hair looked nothing like the example photo I showed at the beginning. She did give me 50% off for the highlight but still probably not worth the time or money to go back. read more
