Their representative repeatedly assured me in writing that there were "no upfront fees or deposit required" and agreed to prepare contingency language allowing me to cancel without penalty if the funding was insufficient. After months of follow-ups, delays, and waiting for management to finalize the paperwork, I was suddenly informed that the company had implemented a "new process" requiring a non-refundable $1,000 payment before they would process the application, engineering review, or other preliminary work.

She was very kind seemed very professional and explained everything to us and that we could save money and not pay anything if we've had them put on and pay less than we did with the electric company. Everything seemed great until they told us that we needed a new roof. We got a quote for $68,000 and sent us to a CREDIT UNION which informed me the loan was at 7% interest. I said no. I immediately called my sales rep and said she informed me that CURRENT would go back in and get me a lower interest rate after I have been qualified. I said I really do not want to give all my information to a company I don't know and especially on interest rates that I cannot confirm. I told her at that time I need you to get some estimates and not move forward until I found out what we were going to do. We did get some estimates and decided we go with another home efficiency program company, which was going to cut our cost substantially. CURRENT refuse to release the contract until a guy named Rob came out to talk to us. He argued with my husband and got nasty and said they were gonna bill us for the estimate and for a guy to take pictures of our roof with the drone. I once again explain the entire thing to him and he said OK. I understand if you just sign this release that we're not gonna move forward on the project. I said and then you're going to send me a bill right? He said no we're done. I apologize this did not go smoothly for you. We really have a good reputation. I said I have no desire to insult your company or anybody in it. I just want to be out of this. He said he would go back to the office and get everything canceled. That still has not been done. I'm just warning anybody out there to beware. I have been trying to cancel this since August 13.

Overall the team all seem to be doing their job and the execution is quick but the lack of customer communication is not up to par for a 50k project. It felt like I was the project manager all the time, following up on schedule, and then calling to verify. I had a feeling that the teams are split and everyone only does their job based on a scope and not as a team. Sometimes, I just want the truth on timing.... Bc Everytime I get a timing commitment, it's delayed and or no show and then also no updates. The project is still on-going with skirting, commissioning wasn't even done , painting of pipes/conduits... so will update accordingly. 8/6/26 : the team swiftly came the next day and finished painting and commissioning so I will add a star. 8/12/26: Just had a constructive discussion with Dayne and Savannah -- overall very positive. While my earlier frustrations were real, the conversation helped me better understand the complexities of the contractor side of the business. I also came away feeling that OC Solar genuinely puts care and attention into each project. The project isn't fully complete yet (inspections, skirting, and a few other items remain), but the overall execution moved at lightning speed and exceeded my own expectations. At the end of the day, it's the final result that counts so I will increase it to 5 stars.

Sam is just amazing! I called him to remove & then re-install my Solar panels, as I was getting a…read morenew roof. The roofer showed up a day before scheduled & my panels were still on the roof. I called Sam & he was at my home within the hour and removed all my panels. He not only removed the Panels with great care, he took great caution binding them together so they wouldn't get ruined, moved them to a safe spot so roofers would not accidentally damage them. Sam then re-installed my panels and I am so pleased the way he took such great care of them. I recently lost my husband & I know noting about the way they work so Sam took me out to the box to show me how to tell if I was getting enough power and what to look for.
