This dentist office is unreal. I got my teeth cleaned on the 5th and a cavity filled on the 12th. It was bad enough that the guy at the front desk (Near? Neal? Neel?) tried to make me pay for it before my insurance company even got the claims, as in my mouth was still numb and I hadn't been out of the chair for five minutes. Now this dental office is calling me. (I blocked the number.) And sending me emails insisting on being paid. It has been TWO WEEKS! The average health claim for any doctor's visit or dental visit is 30-45 days. I haven't even received confirmation of the second claim and what was/wasn't paid, and they're sending me emails complaining about pay. I'm changing my three-star review to a one-star review. I bought a brand new car off the lot and the car dealers were less pushy than this dental office. I cannot even begin to explain how much I regret coming here. Learned my lesson for sure. If this dental office is stalking reviews, you WILL be paid when I actually get PROOF of the second claim. Until I receive it FROM MY INSURANCE COMPANY, NOT YOU, your phone number will be blocked and your emails sent to spam. If you do not stop this behavior, I will be reporting this to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Give your customers a CHANCE to get the results from their insurance company. No one is trying to stiff you on payments. If this was 45 days later, then fine. But it's TWO WEEKS! read more

Dr. Sanai is amazing in every way. She listens and explains. She is very mindful of patients who worry about pain and is careful and present in her approach. The dental assistant (I am so sorry I forgot her name), is also very good and watching / listening to the two of them working together with respect, is very uplifting. Neil at the front desk is also very friendly and professional, and so is the young woman (also don't remember her name). Last thing - I appreciate the texts and phone call reminders for appointments. I have nothing but positive things to say about this office that I've been going to for about 3 years now and hope I can continue 'forever.' read more

Zero stars. I came here on the 16th August 2019 to get a new crown and it was probably the worst decision of my life. They took an X-Ray and quoted me $1000 for a single crown. After I agreed, they very cunningly came back and told me that the current crown I have is difficult to work with so they have to charge an extra $200 which got the total to $1200. I trusted them blindly and agreed to pay more. Now before I even began with the appointment, I told them clearly that I have limited time and I will only start the treatment if it's possible to complete it in the available time. Dr. Nima agreed and Mr. Neer said it wouldn't be an issue at all. He even added that the Dr. Nima would make room on a weekend to complete my appointment. After the first appointment, and giving them half the money the doctor comes back and says she CAN'T finish the procedure in the time I have (After promising me that she can). I had to go to California so I left with half the treatment and no crown. After a few weeks, I called the doctor and her partner, (they both run the clinic) and they completely avoided my calls and refused to finish the treatment. Mr. Neer put me on hold for 45 mins and never called back. They also refused to refund my money. I paid $650 for nothing. They are not consistent with their word and they will rob you. Please beware and don't make any advance payments. Never in my life did I experience such blatant dishonesty. Probably the worst dental clinic in all of Chicago. Update: Still haven't got a refund. Dr. Nima is unreachable and Mr. Neer hasn't responded to any of my texts. Also, I went to another dentist who was able to help me and he told me that Dr. Nima has butcherd my gum with a laser which wasn't even the required treatment. It's going to take months for it to grow back. I don't know where this lady got her degree but she clearly shouldn't be handling anyone's teeth. read more

I've been to this dentist 3 times and have had great experiences every time. I usually don't write reviews, but I feel like it would be helpful to anyone who is looking for a dentist and can't decide who to pick. Reception was very helpful with scheduling, sending reminders and answering questions. Dr Sanai is the best dentist I've been to. Ugh. I've about had it with dentists and this place doesn't do anything to dispel this opinion. Called to make an appointment and received a confirmation ahead of time. I didn't realize they wanted a call back to confirm the appointment. This resulted in me waiting which I was totally OK with. I just played on my phone and then watched TV while I waited. The assistant was very apologetic about it, but it was no biggie. The dentist seemed rushed and wasn't at all knowledgeable about my insurance coverage (specifically restorations covered) while making definitive statements about it. They couldn't do x-rays as my previous dentist had done them less than a year ago and insurance wouldn't cover them. I was ok with this. Rather than ask me for a release consent for records from my previous dentist they asked me to retrieve them and bring them in. This seemed inefficient as I wouldn't know what exactly to ask for or if the records were complete. I contacted my previous dentist but the office has closed and the office at the forwarding number has none of the old records. The dentist's new practice was no help either. I called Devon Dental back and appraised them of the situation and asked if they could seek approval for new x-rays from my insurance. The receptionist immediately responds that I should call the insurance. ... What? I'm not a dentist. I don't know what x-rays the dentist needs. I can't give them a lucid diagnostic justification for them. They are friendly and efficient but the lack of f***s given is profoundly disappointing. read more

GO. DO IT. You could not find a better dentist. This was my first and only positive experience with a dentist. I'm terrified of dentists and have bad teeth from infrequent care and bad habits. Instead of shaming me like every other dentist I have ever been to, everyone at Devon Dental treated me with respect and care, and carefully explained exactly how I should care for my teeth and what I need to do to fix them. The receptionist, assistants, and doctor were all extremely friendly, relaxed, and knowledgeable. I could not have been more comfortable. I'm not sure why people left negative reviews about cleanliness or disorder. Maybe it was about a past location? The office was not only very, very clean, but the most aesthetically pleasing and nicely decorated doctor's office I have ever been to. I didn't have to wait up front and was in and out for an exam and cleaning in under an hour and a half even though they were very thorough. I received confirmations about my appointment via phone and email before arriving. They let me know what my insurance would and would not cover and worked with me to plan how I can take care of the uncovered treatment I need. They also took the time to show me exactly why I need my procedures, which I have never had a dentist do. (Have you ever had a dentist show you the plaque under your gums? Well, it's the biggest motivation I have ever seen for taking care of your teeth. Ewwww! How did no one show me this before?!) (Regarding past reviews complaining about accents of the staff here: It was not the least bit difficult to understand anyone there. I hadn't been to the dentist in a long time, but this was a good welcome back. Dr. Sanai was friendly and professional, and her staff was great. It's clear the author of the review criticizing the cleanliness and old carpet hasn't been in a while. Everything was very clean and looked to be recently remodeled. The equipment looked state of the art, though I'll admit I'm not an expert. Xrays were all digitized. The last dentist I went to felt like a car dealer, pushing cosmetic work. This was not my experience at Devon Dental. She prescribed work that needed to be done. I feel weird rating a medical professional in the same scale and site I'd rate a burger joint. I'm not sure what separates 4s from 5s. There are probably other offices with more of a boutique feel, and I welcome you to go there if that's your thing. That way I'll still be able to get an appointment in a couple of days notice. I'll be going back, that'll be my ultimate endorsement. read more

Wellll when I had to get my second root canal done as a poor college student, I was deteremined to find a low-cost doctor. And so I found Devon Dental Care :). This place saved me so much money! It was a few hundred dollars cheaper than the place I had my first root canal done from. And the dentists here were excellent. They followed-up with me and did a great job. I just moved to the area and wanted to find an office close to home so I tried this place out. While the person who cleaned my teeth was nice enough, the office itself was rather disgusting. The carpet in the waiting room was wet and I not realizing this set my bag down only to pick it up later to find it wet and smelling like mold. Also within 10 seconds of me sitting down in a chair to fill out forms I find 2 or 3 spiders have decided to crawl on me-disgusting. Also, as someone who can only speak very limited Spanish, I felt that it would have been easier for me to communicate with the staff if we could have spoken in it opposed to English (very thick accents) *note I am... not lowering my review score for this, but felt it should be mentioned. At the end of the day, if I couldn't afford better I wouldn't mind going here but I wouldn't say I enjoyed it; I felt way too uncomfortable here, everything is dirty and the equipment is outdated. read more

I'm not sure what the deal is with some of these negative reviews, but Dr. Sanai is THE best dentist ever. I had work done at an expensive holistic dentistry, Wrigleyville Dental, and Dr. Sanai beautifully repaired a faulty crown and the resulting damage to the two surrounding teeth that this expensive dentist caused! I am also incredibly sensitive and Dr. Sanai eases my anxiety with her gentle and caring approach. I also trust her implicitly because she knows her stuff and that in and of itself eases anxiety. I have not had one bad experience from any of the procedures I've had at Devon Dental in the past decade. Dr. Sanai and her staff are top notch. I called Devon Dental after reading the previous review. I was looking for a good dentist, as I hadn't been in a few years, but I don't have insurance and didn't want to pay for anything fancy. After calling around, this place had the best rate within a reasonable distance of my house. I'm not sure how long this is running, but currently they have a special price for first-time patients including a cleaning, x-rays, and exam with the dentist for $80. They were able to make an appointment for three days after I called. The receptionist was extremely nice and helpful. The dentist was attentive and listened to all my concerns, did a thorough cleaning, and scheduled a check-up appointment in a few weeks to make sure a minor issue I have is OK. It's a humble office, yes, but if you are the kind of person who wants to pay for quality dental care rather than a plasma TV and a fish tank in the waiting room, this is an excellent choice. I'm giving it five stars because it was everything I was looking for (good care, affordable, convenient, for me at least), and I wasn't left wishing for anything. I plan to go back in six months! Do not go to this place! The most unprofessional and disorganized dentist I have ever seen. I'm writing about the Devon Dental that moved to 1529 Devon. My wife got her teeth cleaned here two months ago and she made an appointment to get her wisdom teeth extracted. The office called us yesterday to confirm the appointment and we made special arrangements, including taking time off work, to go to the dentist and deal with the subsequent recovery. We showed up for our appointment at 9:30am and the office was not even open. Finally, after about 10 minutes an older gentleman opened the door without explanation, and we were the first ones inside. The receptionist asked us to fill out some forms. My wife asked if she needed to fill out the forms again, including copying her insurance card and driver's license. The receptionist acted as if she had no idea who my wife was despite the fact that we had a confirmed appointment. Then she asked my wife if she brought her x-rays. We told her that we were never given x-rays and she seemed like she couldn't find my wife's file. Meanwhile, the receptionist and the dentist were trying to fix the air conditioning which was broken and about 4 more people entered the office. One of the patients asked the receptionist why no one called her to tell her the office moved since the last time she was there. Apparently, they didn't think that was important information to tell their patients. So, the receptionist finally finds my wife's file with the x-rays that were sitting in the office the whole time. It was about 90 degrees and getting hotter in the office when the dentist explained that the assistant hadn't come in yet and they were running behind. He was also trying to fix the thermostat at the same time, but couldn't get the AC working. We finally got called into the patient area and the dentist greeted us and asked us why we had come. Ummm, "because we have been waiting two months to get my wife's wisdom teeth out?". "Because we had an appointment?" He had no idea who we were or what needed to be done. Then the assistant comes in through the back yelling at the dentist that it wasn't her fault that she was late because it was raining. The dentist, obviously in a rush, tells my wife that she can't get her wisdom teeth out today and that she will need to make another appointment in a month. At this point, we started to get really annoyed. The receptionist starts explaining that we need to get the surgery pre-approved by the insurance before anything happens. She's acting like we don't understand what pre-approval means. Yes, thanks for explaining that to us, we are not idiots. This all should have been done two months ago during the first visit. Then the dentist and the receptionist, trying to salvage our business try to offer all kinds of ridiculous options. We can come on Monday, no Saturday, no we should get the surgery done before pre-approval with just an estimate, no we should wait a month for pre-approval. So, this was the worst experience I've ever had at a dentist. These people obviously have no idea what they are doing. I strongly recommend that you avoid this place. read more

Fun, witty, fair, friendly, and awesome: These ladies made my day! Similar to a previous yelp reviewer, I too, am a student, I am broke, and without insurance. For $80 I got my teeth cleaned and polished, x-rayed for cavities, and a treatment plan to keep my teeth and mouth healthy. And, it turns out that I have two cavities that aren't severe enough to drill on. The cavities will be "watched." Don't go anywhere else where you have to pay for slate floors and water falls. I spent four years of my life periodically homeless. Add those years of neglect teeth that were always prone to decay, and you have a disaster waiting to happen. While I had root canals and other procedures needed to get me out of pain while in graduate school, it wasn't until I moved to Chicago that I was able to get my teeth really taken care of. Dr. Nema replaced all of my fillings (every tooth but two), capped half a dozen of my teeth, and handed me over to her husband for three surgeries (two crown lengthenings and an implant). She (and carol the amazing assistant and Blanca the very capable office manager) took care of me efficiently, with great skill, and without judgment. I can't imagine switching dentists. read more
