I am a person who would previously would have told you that I absolutely hate the dentist... that is until I was fortunate enough to meet Dr. Rita. I truly wish I would have taken "before" photos of my teeth so you could see the significant difference Dr. Rita has made in my life. She has literally improved the quality of my life with her dental work. If you are terrified of the dentist, then Dr. Rita is 100% your gal. For years my husband told me to reach out to Dr. Rita and see her -- I declined. I waited until I was FINALLY ready and made the jump. Less than a week later I had a dental emergency. Dr. Rita was quick to help out even though I hadn't even met her yet. I sent her photos of my tooth and she referred to an amazing endodontic office who also helped. Dr. Rita talked to me about options for my anxiety prior to our first meeting. She helped me by allowing the option for my husband to be there if I needed him after his apt. However, after the first meeting and our general discussion/treatment plan, I felt significantly more at ease. We came up with a plan to tackle my horrendous teeth that has been significantly neglected and at first I was nervous, but after the first meeting and the first time she actually worked on my teeth, I haven't looked back! Dr. Rita has always kept my comfort in mind. She always asks me how I'm doing, if I'm okay, and always praises me when I do well. It is such a relief having her in my corner. She and I made regular appointments and at one time I saw her a few times a week or at least once a week to fix my teeth. I can now smile and not be self conscious. While we still have work to do, I am extremely confident in my care. I feel like I can reach out to Dr. Rita with any issues and she will address them. I am extremely fortunate to have met Dr. Rita -- when I move, I plan on coming back just to see her! Hah! I took my 9 year old and 5 year old for their annual check-up and was totally blown away by Dr. Rita. She's highly intelligent and personable, and she made the visit so fun and motivating for my kids. She let them get comfortable with all of the equipment and patiently described every step of the process. She invited my 9 year old to assist her a bit with the 5 year old's cleaning. The kids were completely involved and consulted the whole time even as she was clearly giving them a thorough cleaning. They immediately loved her and absorbed all of her advice. They now diligently brush for 2 minutes and include their tongues and gum lines "because Dr. Rita taught us to." This is after years of barely getting them to sit still for 45 seconds of teeth brushing. They asked when they could go back and see Dr. Rita. I know this probably sounds too good to be true but I whole heartedly recommend this dental practice and we will be coming back as long as she's working. Was here for my daughter's first dentist appointment, and Dr. Rita was amazing! She had my daughter sit on my lap the whole time, explained clearly in kid-friendly language, encouraged pictures, demonstrated counting and cleaning teeth on me first (wasn't expecting this, but a great idea for a kid to see), let my daughter try out the equipment... really went above and beyond to make the first dentist visit a positive experience. I was super impressed. The building has below-ground parking off Sheridan with valet parking that was free when I got the ticket validated and mentioned we were there for the dentist. This is a small operation -- Dr. Rita handles her own appointments and paperwork. She's also extra careful due to Covid, which we appreciated, and only allows one patient (or patient + parent) in the office at a time. read more

Dr Rita is an amazing Dentist and person. When I needed a new Dentist I went to someone with great reviews on Yelp, who told me that I needed $1,600 of work done to replace all of my old fillings. I decided to get a second opinion, and, made an appointment to see Dr Rita, who was recommended to me by a friend. She told me that I did not need ANY work done and that the fillings would only be replaced if they were giving me trouble or deteriorating. Just had my second cleaning with Dr. Rita a few days ago. I like that she uses a water-based tool to clean my teeth rather than the traditional scraper apparatus. It is more gentle and quicker! Dr. Rita is a genuinely nice person and wants to make sure you are informed about your teeth and proper hygiene. Also, I like that she swipes on a gentle desensitizing gel on your gums to help with the pain of teeth cleaning. She also puts on a complimentary whitening gel treatment at the end of the appointment! I will be going to her for dentistry from now on! read more

Finally, I caved and set up an appointment with Radiant Smiles for a checkup and cleaning. Dr. Sabaitis was very friendly, attentive, and interested in getting to know me as a person. After reading all of the wonderful yelp reviews about Dr. Rita I decided to go to her for my teeth cleaning and I'm so happy that I did! I had not been to the dentist for years, I mean a really long time and so needless to say I was very anxious and embarrassed about going to the dentist. This shitty place. I could not get a human being who was interested in helping me. Instead I was essentially forced to call and leave a voice message. Everytime someone called me, it was the Dentist calling--at to make matters worse--during closing hours. This happened twice! After having not been to the Dentist in 4 years, I was really nervous to go back to one. This is the best Dentist place I have been too. Dr. Rita really takes amazing care of you and I had zero to minimal pain the entire time. Her process is very nice and tells you what she is going to. She first numbs your gums with a paste which helps tremendously (numbness only lasts during the process). What was also amazing was that she gave me complimentary teeth whitening. I was holding off writing a review for Dr. Rita because she seemed too good to be true. I went for my initial visit and, based on that consultation, she referred me to a great dental surgeon for an extraction. Once that was taken care of Dr. Rita was very accommodating in helping me utilize my insurance before the end of the year and getting me in for all of the necessary appointments. She's gentle, she is great at explaining what she's doing and is through in her after care recommendations. Most of all, I believe Dr. Rita really cares and has a genuine interest in my well being and providing me the highest level of care. Rudest dentist I've ever encountered in my life. When I first contacted this office to request an appointment I indicated that I relocated and recently had a cleaning at my previous dentist and they recommended fillings. Dr. Sabaitis said they would confirm whether I need those fillings or not and to have my dentist send a copy of my insurance and X-rays. Fast forward to today, she acted rude and shocked that I recently had an appointment and a treatment plan from my former dentist wasn't included (never requested) and on top of that, rudely reacted to me not having an assigned physician and not seeing one for years. Since I walked in the door she was clearly aggravated and her aggravation continued to increase as things went on. I would not recommend her to anyone if you care about customer service and being treated with common manners. I was so put off that I did not continue with my appointment. In the future, be specific about the information you need from someone's former dentist and also, don't shame someone from not frequently seeing a doctor. I was nervous about going to the dentist after a year plus lapse in cleanings when I switched jobs and lost my dental insurance. After some recent nagging tooth pain, I finally bit the bullet and started looking for a dentist on the Northside. I am so thrilled that I found Dr. Rita. First, she is knowledgable and solution-oriented. I described my tooth pain to her as she reviewed my paperwork in the front office and she was able to accurately identify the source of my pain (clenching, grinding) before even looking in my mouth. She also offered me practical advice for dealing with lifelong sensitive, receding gums that no other dentist has mentioned. Second, she performs all cleanings herself (no dental hygenist) and her cleanings are painless, thanks to a topical, anesthetic and gentle touch. Third, she provided me with a free whitening at the end of the visit. I've been wanting some whitening for a long time, but can't use the at-home treatments due to my sensitive gums. Dr. Rita took care to apply the whitening agent in a way such that it didn't touch my gums, and my teeth look great! Fourth, as another Yelper mentioned, she is affordable, even for patients without insurance. Fifth, she is super nice and helpful regarding non-dental matters. I'm fairly new to the Edgewater neighborhood and Dr. Rita shared her plentiful knowledge about the area gleaned during her 30 years of practice there, and I left excited about supporting a local professional. I've been a patient since 2002. (I was not previously a fan of dentists.) In recent years, she has added a free whitening treatment to the end of cleanings, a definite gain for me! A few years ago, I did need to get some work done. She handled me well, as I'm pretty sure I'm a difficult/nervous patient. Timing was also helpful, as I found out I needed the work close to end end of the year. She was super nice about trying to figure out an estimate, based on my current insurance, so I could allot that much in my flexible spending account for the next year. She also submits all that insurance paper work for you. (I haven't met a dentist who didn't, but have heard some out there are refusing?) During years that I did use a car, you can park in the building garage for $3 (2012 rate); just tell the attendant you're there to see the dentist and pay at the desk before heading out. Anyways, she's genuinely likable, instead of frightening. Also, I love that I can book appointments via email communication. She has weekend availability too, nice given my recent change to a 9-5 sort of job. read more
