I have been a patient of Dr. Gamalinda for about two years. My previous dentist retired and sold his practice and I didn't vibe with the new people. A couple of good friends have been patients of Dr. Gamalinda so I gave him a shot and I am very happy that I did. For one, he is in network with my insurance. Something that has been difficult for me to find. Secondly, Dr. Gamalinda is an excellent dentist. He always explains in detail all of his procedures and I find that he is fairly priced as well. I went to Today's Dentistry, because it was time for my 2nd cleaning of this year, I had the first cleaning with my regular dentist that I've had for many years. Dr. Henry Lotsof he's retired. So I chose this one for just a cleaning, I had already had X-rays and fillings done prior to coming there. But even with the cleaning they didn't seem to have the right tools for that. And when I was given X-rays it was very difficult, because again not the proper equipment to do it with. So I had to open my mouth wide enough for a cellphone to be used to take pictures of my teeth, atleast 20 pictures done that way. I had already then made the decision to NOT return there and I cancelled the upcoming appointment made for me. To discuss a hella lot of extra work he said that I needed done. I had went to him many years ago, to have a partial done. It was a bad experience for me. And on top of all that, as he did even more than he should've done. My insurance won't pay for anything over the cleaning and I was told by my insurance provider that he know what was covered. So they're only paying for the cleaning. Which will leave me with a cost. I was told he knew. So I just add it up to him being a thirsty / greedy dentist. That's all. He needs to invest in updated equipment. No one should have to open their mouth to have a cellphone taking pictures. That's all folks read more

Being 32, I've moved multiple times after turning 18 experiencing many different offices, and he is the best I've experienced so far! In late June, I was in a bad bike accident. My two front teeth were pushed back. I was able to be squeezed in around 3 pm - day of appointment. They brought me back to assess me, Dr. Gamalinda said there was a whole series of actions to take. I explained that I was about to leave town for a week. And he made a plan to do what he could that day. He was very nice and explained the whole thing to me very simply. He ended up staying until 9 pm that evening, with almost 3 straight hours of work in the chair. It was so incredible & I was very thankful. Healing is going well, and his staff have been very helpful in figuring out next steps & payments. On that day, I did have a wait. However, I was a last minute appointment. And I am always grateful for a doctor who will spend time explaining what's happening. And again, Dr. Gamalinda stayed way past closing for me and basically saved my teeth. Thanks Today's Dentistry! If I could give this office 6 stars I would. Dr. Gamalinda and his whole team are amazing. I've been struggling with some serious dental issues from having cancer a few years back. My teeth had accelerated decay from the radiation and chemotherapy. Dr. G took thorough x-rays, determined what needed to be done, and mapped out an action plan for getting me back to normal. They worked with my insurance and made sure to minimize my out of pocket expenses. The staff is great too. Lorena is the best. She's always super friendly, efficient, and professional. Maria, who assisted with my surgery was also really great. Speaking of the surgery, I also noticed something else. Not only was Dr. G patient and friendly and explained everything in detail, but he's also incredibly kind to his staff. It was a lot of 'please and thank you' during the procedure. Dr. Gamalinda is a crook and a con-artist. The disorganization of his office led to him starting to extract a tooth of mine before asking me to sign a waiver of any sort. He quickly left when he realized with the front office person what had happened and did not come back for another half hour. He bounced back and forth between another patient and me for the whole operation (I was getting a tooth REMOVED) and repeatedly would not numb my mouth until I screamed from the pain. The equipment he uses has paint chipping and peeling all over it and the overall sense one gets from this place is that they are eager to take your money and not care about anything else. He tried to trick me into consenting to a root canal from his office if "midway through, [him] cleaning my teeth showed that I needed a root canal" and would not give any other information besides the cost of the operation. Yes, the staff was pleasant. Yes, Dr. Gamalinda was very nice. BUT HE'S ALSO A CROOK!! Maybe things have changed, but I saw him approximately 2 years ago. At the time, he diagnosed me with four cavities, prescribed a night guard, and said that I needed 2 root canals. The estimate for services ended up being about 3500 dollars. I sought a second opinion. . . The two dentists I went to afterwards, said I had one cavity that needed work and had no idea where the other cavities Dr. Gamalinda was diagnosing. When all was said and done, a private dentist (whom I would have to pay out of pocket) said that the work would probably cost about 1500 dollars. I'm surprised their reviews are that good. Although they seem nice all they they really cared about was how much they were going to charge you. My husband was off of work for 2 1/2 year so when I went in for a root cancel I received no concern regarding my situation. We have always paid our bills on time and in a monthly manner but they wouldn't even listen to me they wanted me to sign a contract to pay it off in a year with no interest for 12 months but after that it had a 26 percent interest fee. I needed it done so I had to do it they was no talking to them about doing anything else.. The Dentist then goes over what's wrong in your mouth and then the receptionist gives you an itemized list of what you need and what's it's going to cost. I also didn't like that when they started doing the work, the dentist left you to look or work on another client. They he would come back and refreeze your mouth of course recharging you, so what should have taken an hour took so much longer and when your afraid of doctors in the first place you hate to sit doing nothing while he's working on some else. They didn't even do the root cancel right as now I need to find another dentist to see what can be done about it. All the really cared about was their money and how much they were making off of you. One of the horrible things about moving to a new city is finding new necessities, such as a doctor and a dentist. Especially when you had an incredible dentist back in Michigan. Due to a recent dental emergency, I have found a terrific dentist right in my neighborhood. Two days ago, while eating a cookie at Subway, I suddenly realized that the crunchy part of my cookie was actually my back molar! My tooth had broken, and I was terrified. I called two dentists, and no one could get me in until Monday at the earliest, and then I called Today's Dentistry. I read the great reviews on Yelp, and figured I'd give them a shot. Dr. Gamalinda scheduled me yesterday afternoon and we discussed what needed to be done. Long story short, I came in this morning (Friday) at 8:30 am, before the office even opened, and Dr. Gamalinda performed a completely painless crown and filling. He talked me though everything, took his time, and made sure that I felt nothing. He was even able to do my crown without needing to perform a root canal- something he was concerned about due to the location of the fracture. He was very compassionate, even offered me his headphones so I could listen to music during the procedure. He told me everything that was going on, and let me see in the mirror as he was working. The most impressive part was that tonight he called to ask how I was feeling and if I had questions or needed anything! What a lovely gesture! Bonus props to Maria, who also works there, who spent an hour talking with my two dental insurances for me so we could find out how to save me the most money in this procedure! She was great! A dentist who squeezes in a new patient, comes in an hour before the office is open to ensure the patient has her procedure done, while thoroughly explaining everything, and calling at the end of the day to see how the patient is doing is a great dentist in my book. My entire life has been punctuated by bad dentists that caused pain and anxiety no matter how small the procedure was (I even got to the point where I hated going in for cleanings because cleanings led to fillings and fillings caused me a lot of pain). For the past two years I've been uninsured and therefore have been saved from the stress of going to a dentist, but upon moving to Chicago and breaking a tooth on a crab rangoon, I knew I needed to see someone - quick. I found Dr. Gamalinda had great reviews here on Yelp.com and decided to try and make an appointment. The only problem was that since I'm a flight attendant, I had to cancel my first attempt last minute due to being called up for a flight. Usually this sort of behavior leads to extra charges for canceling, but they were nothing less than understanding and kind about my plight. When I called two mornings to try and get myself in for an appointment again at last minute, I spoke with Dr. Gamalinda himself and he was happy to let me come in two hours later. When I got there, I knew I was in a good place when I saw the numerous Thank You notes framed on the walls - I tried to calm my nerves by thinking 'This guy can't be so bad if so many people are thanking him.' Two hours later and I was in tears because this was the first dentist appointment in my life that I felt NO PAIN in at all. I feel so grateful for Dr. Gamalinda because he is a truly great dentist and very understanding of my anxieties, constantly reassuring me that I would feel no pain - and I didn't! I would recommend him, and have, to anyone and everyone in need of a good dentist. What made me even more satisfied was that at 8pm the day I got my temporary crown, I received a call from Dr. Gamalinda himself checking on me to make sure I was okay and the pain meds were working. Life with broken front teeth is not nearly as bad as the social exile i imagined after my accident in high school, but it does mean some crunchy food paranoia, and fairly regular maintenance. This summer I finally broke one of my bonded teeth on an olive pit and needed to find a dentist ASAP. I called Dr. Gamalinda after reading reviews here (and having heard some really negative things about First Family Dental down the street) and he fit me in right away. Because I unfortunately don't have dental insurance I was upfront about needing to keep costs down, he worked with me and skipped the full x-rays he usually requires for new patients. Long story short, my old bonded teeth had been made too short ten years ago, and Dr. Gamalinda spotted this immediately. I ended up having him redo both front teeth so that they would match and they look and feel great. Creating teeth out of putty is a very delicate process, and although one tooth literally took five hours to complete, Dr. Gamalinda never lost his patience (even after two return visits for minor adjustments). New teeth are indeed pricey, but I never got the feeling of being overcharged, or pushed to get the more expensive caps for my teeth. My confidence is through the roof with my new teeth and I am so happy to recommend Dr. Gamalinda! read more

I am a fan. Having moved back to town recently, it was time to find a new dentist. Had a problem with an existing filling and needed to get in ASAP. Called the office first thing in the morning and Dr. Gamalinda managed to fit me in late in the day (at the time the office normally closes I believe) to take a look. Upon his diagnosis, he explained exactly what the issue was, what needed to be done, and possible complications that might require a root canal, which he stated he would do his best to avoid. Came back later in the week and the procedure was completely painless both during and afterwards - and he did such a great job that the root canal was not needed. He even called me later in the evening as follow up to ensure I was still in good shape. Very pleased with the experience. I have been a patient of Dr. Gamalinda's since I moved to Chicago in 2005. Historically, I did not regularly receive dental care so I was nervous about having a painful experience but I found him by using 1-800-Dentist and couldn't be happier with the service I get from both him and his wonderful staff. Lorena provides a wonderful first impression to any nervous newcomers and is a master scheduler (I love that I can come in on Saturday mornings). I have referred many friends who have also referred friends to his practice. One ( a friend's husband) even took the time to write a thank you note to Dr. Gamalinda for helping him get over his fear of dentists. I have had wonderful experiences with each of the dental hygenists that have assisted Dr. Gamalinda with my care as well. One thing that I really appreciate about this business is that the turnover of staff is very low. I imagine that Dr. Gamalinda is as kind with them as he is with his patients. The practice is also very family friendly. There is a small area to keep young children entertained and to make the experience less traumatic...we have been encouraged to bring my 19 month old son for "friendly visits" where he can meet the staff and pick a prize from the treasure chest. They also have healthy treats available for children and coffee for adults in the event that you might have to wait due to an emergency (or both parents having back to back appointments and needing to watch the little ones while the other receives care). I have Cigna insurance so there have never been any billing issues. I truly love this practice and joked with Dr. Gamalinda recently that I see him more regularly than I do my primary care physician. As long as I am in the Chicagoland area I plan to remain a patient of his and recommend him without hestitation or reservation. read more

Dr Gamalinda is really nice, and the best dental experience I've ever had. I was really nervous about my exam and cleaning (it had been a ridiculously long time since I went to a dentist), and he was so reassuring. He has noise-cancelling headphones so you can listen to music, which was very nice. Also, they have the nicest lobby/waiting room I've ever been in. There's tooth-friendly snacks, magazines, coffee & tea, tons of magazines. They also have these posters in the florescent lights, so that when you look up at the lights you see fluffy clouds and a cherry blossom tree instead of the usual awful florescent lights. read more

I've had some awful experiences all over the country in dentistry, horrible traumatic, painful, horrific extractions/chunks left behind/dry sockets, unnecessary work, bad work needing to be re-done... But.... his office is helping me get ok with dentistry again. He's super gentle, slow, nice, doesn't make you feel like an @$$hole for your dental problems, works WITH you on what you want to do, doesn't just say it's his way or the highway (he suggested a root canal because of a previously badly done crown but when I said I didn't want to do all that he agreed to just try his best to rework and re-cement the existing crown) Great place and good for someone who is scared to go to the dentist. Dr. Mark Gamalinda was my dentist for a period of time but I stopped going after the number of red flags about his practice became overwhelming. 1) It seemed every time I visited there were other patients in other rooms but Dr. Gamalinda was the only dentist on site and he would roll his chair back and forth between the rooms like musical patients. 2) I could hear the conversations and work in the other rooms and they could hear mine - once another patient even commented to me on how everyone that day needed a mouthguard. 3) Nearly everytime someone else was having an appt. while I was I heard Dr. Gamalinda tell the patient they needed at least one extraction, a crown or two, and the almighty $500 plus mouthguard - every single time. 4) He signed patients up on the spot for CareCredit and then proceeded to bill the full amount for treatment that wouldn't occur for months to a year down the road IF the patient even continued to see Dr. Gamalinda. 5) I as well as other patients were asked to sign waivers indemnifying Dr. Gamalinda for his care (with lots of his illegible handwritten notes) after receiving anesthesia shots, etc. and sitting for 10 to 15 minutes - so we were basically out of it when he's asking to sign a paper that he didn't give patients copies of - even after asking the desk attendant for a copy - she always replied with some excuse or another as to why it wasn't available in the patient file. 6) When I visited my prior dentist in between visits to Dr. Gamalinda because his work on one tooth crumbled and I had to have an emergency dental visit while out of town - my old dentist was horrified at what he saw and asked if my current dentist was licensed. 6) I saw that Dr. Gamalinda was disciplined by the licensing department and put on probation. https://www.idfpr.com/Forms/DISCPLN/0207_dis.pdf Mark Gamalinda, Chicago - dentist license (019-020658) placed on probation for one year for allegedly overdiagnosing a patient's condition. I'm guilty of not going to the dentist regularly and that caused me some terrible pain. Over the years I made the bad decision to just have teeth pulled instead of taking care of them. I called 1800dentist, telling them my fear of dentists, my economic situation and I needed help ASAP. They referred me to Dr G and he called me within the hour ( at 8 pm ) and the time to discuss my situation and I immediately liked him My first visit was tense for me but was put at ease by Dr G. He was great. My news was not great but knowing my history I wasn't surprised. I now am on a good path and am thrilled with the service. The only thing that could justify 1 star -- showing up to a closed office when you received 2 email confirmations and a text confirmation for an appointment on a Saturday. No one picked up the phone when I called. I was heavily relying on this appointment and scheduled to accommodate it, and now I'll have to completely reschedule (with people who actually honor their appointments) for a much needed procedure. As an out-of-state student, I had no idea where to look for dental care. After having my wisdom teeth extracted back home, I developed an infection/dry socket when I returned to school. I was sent to Dr. Gamalinda's office to have it checked out, and I am so glad that I did. So, My previous review was when I had first been to Dr. Gamalinda, and it was a very nice review for what I had felt at that time. I had paid for my services from Dr. Gamalinda out of pocket, which is why everyone was so nice with me to begin with. I had taken care of some cavities with Dr. G and one or two other things. He was always very nice with me, responsive, caring (in a sense) and somewhat welcoming. You could see $$$ in his eyes, LOL. After going to another DDS for an evaluation for braces, I had told him how Dr. G charged me for veneers on my teeth.... behold... no veneers found on my teeth. I had trusted what he said when he was doing the work. I even showed my new DDS the receipt & breakdown for what was charged and he said that he in fact false charged me. He cheated me out of my money. There is a review on here that says his license was revoked at one point in time for FRAUD. This doctor is a FRAUD and cheated me out of my money. Do not see this DDS if you know what's best for you. I am a young woman, and this lesson learned cost me a couple thousand dollars. Even if you think you know the right questions to ask, or if you feel that you won't be taken advantage of...stop ya self! Not even worth trying to fight for the money back because this is not his first rodeo, he knows how to work the system. Stay away my friends. read more

I went here for a wisdom tooth consultation because it's down the street from my house. I heard good things about the dentist so figured it was worth a try. For scheduling, they called me Thursday and were able to get me in on Friday. The lobby was very clean and comfortable and the staff was all extremely kind. I had two separate dental hygienists working with me before Dr. Gomalinda came in. He talked through everything with my and then he worked with the staff to make the oral surgeon appointment for me so I wouldn't have to call. I love Dr. Gamalinda--even after two (painless) root canals. I trust him so much I let him drill my teeth without any anesthetic when he told me another cavity was very small. And I am a girl who used to cry before going to the dentist. I don't live anywhere near his office anymore, but I just won't use any other dentist. After a long absence from seeing any dentist, I finally broke down after four years and went to Dr. Gamalinda. I had a string of bad ones in my teens and was terrified. I was amazed at quickly he put me at easy, as well as how efficiently he worked. He was funny and disarming, while also taking the time to talk to me about a few things I would need to take care of. Also, he spared me a lecture about how smoking was doing me damage, choosing instead to focus on the benefits of if I quit and how to offset the damage in the meantime. Dr. Gamalinda and the staff at Today's Dentistry are great. Very professional and friendly. The dentist actually sat down to explain my options for my particular issue (teeth shifting and grinding at night). I would definitely recommend this dentist to others. read more
