One of the main reason we book with Nicole is that when things go wrong, I'd like her to step up and resolve them. But instead, she CHARGED US $300 for moving to the next playground. Wow, we were expecting apology, not a $300 bill. Even if you are a repeating and happy client of Nicole (like us), I advise you to start looking for more professional services with other organizers. We appreciate the many events she helped us until she dropped the ball completely and insulted us by charging us extra afterwards. -- Nicole responded by saying that they couldn't have foresaw that the playground was closed. This is false as her team showed me that they sent Nicole messages and videos of playground being closed before they setup anything. We decided on face painting, a glitter bar and time for entertainment. Gale was our assigned fairy; she reached out a few days before our event. The morning of, we found out very last minute that we had to change our venue due to rain and Gale was flexible and was right on pace - after a quick text to her, she showed up as the new location on time. She arrived in a very festive Encanto/Mirabel outfit; our location change ended up being to our home and garage. Gale led an entertaining puppet show (several other parents thought for a short while that her rabbit puppet was a real animal) - kids and parents enjoyed it! The kids loved her artistry with her glittery tattoos on their face and hands. Her balloon animals were also a huge hit. It was fantastic to have 1 person with so many great skills to keep kids happy. As my husband and I were running the party, we loved the fact that we were able to keep ~25 2 to 5 year olds entertained for the 3 hour party (2 hours during which Gale was there). Jessica: Jessica was our main point of contact throughout the planning process, and she was truly amazing. Whether we had questions or requests for the decorators, MC, DJ, day-of coordinator, photographers, videographers, or HMUA, she was always there to help. She was patient, kind, incredibly organized, and never made me feel like my questions were too much. Our Service Instruction worksheet was so detailed that every vendor knew exactly what to expect, which made the entire day run seamlessly. Decoration Team: The décor for both our ceremony and reception was absolutely stunning. Just two weeks before the wedding, I made a major change to our reception backdrop, and the team worked hard to bring my new vision to life. Jessica even arranged for me to see digital mockups after we discussed how important they were to me. Because of that, I was able to completely refresh the design from the inspiration I had shared over a year earlier. My advice: be as specific as possible about what you like and don't like--it really helps the decorators create your vision. Everything was executed beautifully. MC Eric: Eric was phenomenal! We specifically wanted a bilingual English/Vietnamese MC, and he exceeded every expectation. Even our hard-to-impress Vietnamese aunties and uncles couldn't stop complimenting him. He was charismatic, organized, and handled last-minute changes effortlessly. We had to adjust our timeline during the reception, including pausing photos and adding speeches, and he kept everything flowing naturally without awkward downtime. He also perfectly coordinated our unique sequence of dances with the DJ, making every transition feel seamless. DJ Otis: We didn't know who our DJ would be until the wedding day, and we were thrilled it was Otis! He absolutely nailed the music all night. The dance floor stayed packed until 11 PM because he knew exactly how to read the crowd. He mixed current hits with 70s-90s favorites that kept both younger guests and the older Vietnamese crowd dancing. The glow sticks and light-up glasses were a huge hit, and the energy never dropped. Day-of Coordinator Carina: Carina was incredible. She was warm, personable, and unbelievably organized. I thought my planning documents were detailed, but hers were even more thorough! She made me feel completely at ease leading up to the wedding and even drove to Pleasanton to run our rehearsal (an add-on that was absolutely worth it). Multiple vendors and family members commented on how efficient and organized she was. Photography & Videography: Our package included an engagement shoot plus two photographers and two videographers. Sam photographed both our engagement session and wedding, and his work was beautiful. We chose his light and airy editing style, and our engagement photos turned out amazing. On the wedding day, Sam and Christine were fantastic. They captured every moment while making us feel comfortable. One thing I'll never forget was how Sam noticed we hadn't had a moment to ourselves because of nonstop photos. He quietly pulled us away under the guise of a private reception reveal so we could enjoy a few peaceful minutes together. It was such a thoughtful gesture. Otis was kind with great attention to detail from the start. Ultimately, we decided with the glam package and our contract was very clear to understand with cost breakdown for removal of specific services / add-ons. I updated it many times with Jessica, our planner, as we made changes throughout the months, and she was always so patient and clear. Our MC Otis did a wonderful job with maintaining flow of the program. Otis was also working as DJ for a good portion of the evening, so props to him! We had closer to an hour compared to 1.5 hours of open dancing because we were behind schedule, but everybody was on the dance floor and he kept the party going seamlessly. Weddings are hectic and there are so many moving parts; we did get behind schedule but we were still able to do everything we wanted to do. Our photo & video services were set to end, but Otis was very professional in discussing with us if we wanted to extend our video services, communicative on additional cost, at the moment. Our photographer, Ben, along with the team Stanford and videographer, Christina, were so fun to work with. Ben was great at providing direction, which is especially helpful since we were not used to posing. I have not received photo & video yet as it has only been a week, but from an experience standpoint, they were attentive to detail, communicative, and glided effortlessly through the event. My makeup artist, Vivi, is the sweetest person. She was super attentive to detail and my particular skin type. I was worried about makeup because I don't wear heavy makeup often. I ended up paying for a make-up trial, and I was so happy working with Vivi that I had no worries for the wedding day. We also added-on make up for our mothers, which Vivi did the morning of. The reception decor turned out so pretty! Everything was set-up as scheduled. I was really happy with the welcome backdrop and name sign. It was also great to take pictures with guests with the backdrop since we had time during cocktail hour. We asked TDE to incorporate a large screen as the backdrop of our sweetheart table, so we found an example from a previous wedding they did, and it turned out exactly as expected. We added the photo-booth, which was so popular with the guests! There were so many cool props and our guests were having tons of fun with it. I also sent TDE a custom drawing that I wanted for the photo strips- and it turned out just like I imagined. We chose Grand Dynasty as our reception venue, and TDE communicated set-up details with our restaurant event manager, Esmond, in the days leading up to the event. However, I still do stand behind the inconvenience of ordering with Cute Balloons** I was going to be a repeat customer. This time I had time to plan and it wasn't as last minute. I will not be attempting to return as a customer nor do I recommend this business. I had a very straight forward order but because he didn't have the colors and type I wanted, the process was stretched out. There was a lot of back and forth with photos and questions. 24 hours later, I realize this is not how it should be. Based on my last experience, I knew I needed to ask questions and request for photos to get options. Because his "green" meant light green when I want a hunter green but he ONLY has the light green and told me he has "green" and would have provided that green to me if I didn't inquire more about it. After a while, it seems like I was directing the sales. To help the guy out, I told him not to blow up every shade of balloon but just take a single picture of the unblown balloon so that I can choose from it. And blow it up if I want to see how it looks like blown up. After that ordeal, he gave me a new quote that was close to my previous order (which had 30 more latex balloons). Basically this time $200 for 50 latex, 10 foil stars, numbers 1 & 0, and delivery. When my last order was $250 for 80 latex, 12 foil stars & delivery. Plus, we gave him a tip even though I was a bit on the fence of doing so. When inquired about the price this time, he concluded that each foil number was to cost $15. For a balloon business, choices are lacking. Eric has no concept of different shades of colors. Definitely has no interests in returning customers. We are a balloon loving party family. So we have had experiences with ordering balloons and blowing up balloons ourselves. I am very disappointed that this local small business is not quite trying to be what they are made out for. Now I'm just more mad because I wasted more time to write this review because I was unhappy with my experience with the balloon man. After I press "post review", I will forget about this business and let go of the angry feelings I have because, damnit! I have a 10 year old birthday party to plan.
