I'm excited to have finally found one of the sources of that awesome chocolate smell I get when I take the Millbrae Ave exit. I placed my pickup order online and received a confirmation email shortly after. 2 Quetzalcoatl Bittersweet Chocolate - 72% Cacao $9.98 1 Bittersweet Chocolate Baking Bars - 70% Cacao $6.99 1 Nocturne Extra Dark Chocolate - 91% Cacao $4.99 Total $21.96 If you park at a visitor spot in the parking lot, the office entrance is to the right through the courtyard. I walked into the reception area and was greeted by the front desk person. I told her that I was picking up an order and gave her my name. She went to the back and got my bars for me and I was on my way. So far, I've only gotten into one of my 72% bars so far but killed it in one sitting. The chocolate is tasty and I'd recommend it to anyone. Protip: The confirmation email that is generated for pickup orders does not state that Guittard will send the customer a follow up email when their order is ready to be picked up. All it says at the bottom is: "HOW TO PICK UP YOUR ORDER: You selected Pick Up as your shipping selection. To pick up your order, please visit our offices between the hours of 8am and 5pm." It would be informative if Guittard added a blurb here about what to expect for pickup orders.

    Easy parking too

Been around forever with a wide variety of chocolates. They have been very supportive of local clubs with donations for fundraisers.

Their chocolate bars are delicious, and my favorite is Sur Del Lago Bittersweet 65% cacao from Venezuela.

Maison Alyzée is a French fine pastry bakery café located on downtown Burlingame's main strip. Dedicated to providing customers with a Parisian escape through handcrafted elegant pastries and artisanal breads, the bake shoppe doubles as pâtisserie and boulangerie, priding itself on meticulous attention to detail. Upon entry, we were welcomed by a brightly lit and very clean venue. Ray and I were immediately drawn to the beautiful marble-topped white counter that encased a gorgeous variety of exquisite treats. The commitment to the elegance of French culture and modern creativity were evident in every luxurious pastry and cake on display. Maison Alyzée is an order-at-the-counter establishment, so we made our purchase with a friendly staff member at the register. Unfortunately, we were told that espresso drinks were no longer available that night since the staff had already begun cleaning the machines. Ok....I never understand businesses that start shutting down things before closing time. This just shows customers that team convenience of closing shop quickly takes precedence over customer experience, essentially omitting availability of items from the menu while they are still open. For this reason, I am docking a star. Luckily, they still had some cold brew available, so I ordered a Lavender Cold Brew with oat milk. Heads-up: Plant-based milks like almond and oat milk incur a $0.75 surcharge. I wish that the lavender was more like a simple syrup, so that the flavour was sweeter and less sharp. Maison Alyzée also offers a selection of breakfast, lunch, and brunch options. I definitely need to return to try one or two or a few of their ostentatious delights.

I visited Maison Alyzee in Burlingame on a Saturday morning, and while the pastries were good, the service felt cold and dismissive. There was no rush, yet the staff was not warm or welcoming. I asked for my raisin au pain to be warmed up, and after waiting outside for about 10 minutes with no update, I went back in to ask. The response was "It's in the oven" was delivered rudely, as though my simple question was an inconvenience. Even when a café is busy, basic courtesy and communication should not be optional. Good food deserves to be matched by good hospitality.

It's definitely more creamy than icy which is great! The flavors themselves are subtle but are the star of the show since the sweetness levels are very low. The matcha was very pure and fresh! And the chocolate was on the darker side, but still not too bitter or sweet. The black sesame (which I only sampled) was not flavorful enough for me.....but maybe with more tastes I would've learned to like it. The cones looked very thin and fragile so we didn't get one....but could've been good idk haha. The toppings (we got Bischoff) really tied the whole soft serve together and added the sweetness the soft serves needed! Overall, a cute soft serve shop with good service. The soft serve is on the less sweet and more subtle side, which is actually refreshing and keeps dessert light! Definitely come try this place if it sound like something you'd enjoy!

We sampled the strawberry and guava flavors, but both tasted a little off to us, so we ended up ordering the vanilla. The vanilla was good, but the flavor was very subtle. I also thought they were a bit skimpy with the toppings, especially considering the price. The shop itself is a little small, so it gets crowded quickly. There was a short line when we visited, but it didn't seem to be managed very efficiently. We had already received our ice cream and were ready to pay, but instead of checking us out, the staff continued helping the family of four ahead of us by handing out samples, taking their order, and completing their transaction first. Since there were two employees working, it would've made more sense to quickly ring us up first. Instead, we ended up waiting another 10 minutes just to pay. Also, how the owner responded to some of the negative reviews was kind of crazy. It's understandable that not every criticism is fair, but responding with profanity or getting overly defensive doesn't leave a great impression.

Always love the option to join the online waitlist ahead of time when reservations aren't available. Favorite dishes of the night were: -Gnocchi Fritto appetizer: Never had fried gnocchi before, had a great puffy texture. Truffle taste in the truffle cream sauce wasn't very strong. -Zucchine e Maiz lasagna: Pesto was a great sauce choice and paired well with the zucchini and corn. -Squid Ink Seafood Pasta (special): Generous seafood portions and the dish was flavorful. -Complimentary focaccia: Fluffy and yummy with olive oil. Other dishes: The Italian Sausage lasagna was fine. I personally love crispy lasagna edges, but some people found it too crisp and too dry. The salad (Insalata di Rucola) wasn't mind blowing, but I'm glad we ordered a veg to cut through the richness and heaviness of three carb-heavy entrees. The restaurant itself is smaller than expected, so I would avoid coming here with large parties. It also felt really hot and stuffy inside, which I anticipate getting worse as summer progresses. The interior is cutely decorated. Service was initially attentive. We did have to flag down our waitress multiple times to order and get the check. Overall, my party enjoyed the food and we would come back!

My BF got the classic lasagna and I would say it's good...but I think the one I make at home fits my flavor palette more. We also got the caesar salad, it's a solid caesar and we got the anchovies on top too it was so umami it hit the spot. This is a great date night place I'd recommend to others. Pickup was at the San Mateo location, which is right by the caltrain station. Its a super small storefront for carryout only. They have a kitchen but most of the cakes are made at other locations and brought over for pickup. Unfortunately we were not super impressed by the biscoff crepe cake. While the design was cute and the crepes were thin, there wasnt enough biscoff creme (only about 1 layer for every 4-5 layers of plain vanilla creme) for the flavor to really come through. For a special holiday flavor like this, we expected a stronger biscoff flavor. If theres a special again, we'd be willing to give another flavor a try!
