This was a great experience! We had them out to check our dishwasher on a warranty call. DeWaard & Bode honored the warranty without question and scheduled the service promptly. The technician arrived on time and was very organized and respectful of our home. One of the things that my wife noticed was that he talked at length with her and his communication skills were great! He didn't talk down to her and was very informative. This as opposed to many of experiences we have had with trades and salesmen who have been condescending, rude, or dismissive to "the little woman". Completely unacceptable behavior. I went in to get dryer parts and had to buy a new heating element. The element was $70 and I needed a sensor for $54. I bought the element but the sensor was out of stock so I went home to order a genuine part delivered the next day on Amazon. So on Amazon, the whole kit with all three sensors was $25.79 and delivered the next day. These guys mark the parts up almost 500%. That should be illegal. I went in to buy a refrigerator that was on sale at every local store - Whirlpool had special incentives. Every other company had the price $200 cheaper. I asked the salesperson to match. He said he would have to get manager approval. He left to speak with the manager. If there were zero stars as a choice, that's what they'd get. The service department is awful and extremely poorly managed. Over a year ago, we ordered parts & paid in person for the parts at the time of our order. Nine months later, we had never heard from them again. I went in person to check on our order & was told "those parts are discontinued." And, ? They had pocketed our money because we prepaid for the parts that were not even orderable. We were given a refund after I went in person to request one - 9 months after ordering the parts that were never ever ordered. And, now, our washing machine has been broken for nearly a month. We chose to delay a scheduled repair day because we can only do the 3-5P repair time, and wanted to guarantee a day when 3-5P would be possible. Then, today (the day of our scheduled repair, after waiting a few weeks for an opening that fits with our schedule!) we were told that they cannot "always guarantee a 3-5P repair time" and that we needed to reschedule for another week out to 'try again' for a 3-5P repair time. The service department is sickening. We've been loyal customers for 20+ years and will now be taking our business elsewhere, and I strongly encourage others to steer clear from certain disappointment. read more

Will never buy another item from them again. Washer Dryer unit I purchased exploded after 14 months. Warranty was of course 12 months, go figure. Between the $150 fee just for them coming to look at the machine and the parts and labor it cost me $800 just to get it running again. I was told by Bren the service manager that he would contact GE to get them to cover parts and I would only have to pay for labor. Well turns out I still had to pay for some of the parts. All in all it took several weeks just to make it all happen. You will be better off buying from a big box at a much lesser price trust me. Not happy. read more

If you want to be assured of working with a sales person who is knowledgeable, honest, conscientious, and has a pleasant personality then Dallas Dejong at the Warehouse location on Hannigan is your man! My husband and I are boomers and retired so getting the most bang for our buck, especially these days with how high inflation has made everything, we were being diligent in our price comparisons when looking to replace our 20yr old oven and refrigerator. We were referred to DeWaard and Bode by MIllworks supply and so glad we followed through on that recommendation. We had the good fortune that Dallas was the Sales rep working the floor that day. He knew what questions to ask us that helped us to realize that a lot has changed with appliances in the last 20 years. He even had us email photos of where the new refrigerator would be installed to insure it would work in that space. At the same time we were also comparing prices and product with Lowes and Home Depot because of the additional military discount that my husband is eligible for. Even though we were getting the same product at a lower price we were so impressed with Dallas that we went back to see if there was anyway DB could get close to matching the "Big Box" store price. To make a long story short, Dallas went to bat for us, even emailing us on his days off, and was able to come within $50 of what we were getting quoted elsewhere. We so appreciate that Dallas was there to help us from the initial meeting and was committed to earning our business by being our advocate and not just a Sales Representative. The disappointment is this place could be a winner. Locally owned, huge selection. And given the diminishing quality of nearly all modern appliances, they appear to have filled the gap by providing service. "We Service What We Sell" is the companies motto. Like many local, I relied on this explicit promise of support and filled my home with what I understood were some of their most reliable appliances, and ones that would best fit the needs of my home. But there's a reason there are so many 1 star reviews. The company simply doesn't have the resources to support the products they sell. In the best case scenario it's now about a month before you can be seen. The dispatcher is over worked and there seems no reliable way of communicating what your problem is so that when they do arrive, they can actually repair it. If you are lucky enough to get one of their repair people to show up, they will have little or nothing accurately communicated from the dispatcher or the previous repair person, and so they will order a part which is on back order, there will be weeks or months of waiting, and when you check back there will likely be no accurate record of what you have already communicated or even what the last repair person communicated. It's now September and I've had a dish washer and clothes washer fail in May. More than four months I'm still waiting for repairs on either. (If a landlord delayed repairing a tenants basic appliances this long, they'd rightfully be out of business) Dewaard and Bode simply don't have the personnel to repair their appliances, or even a system that allows you to reliably explain what is going wrong with the product you purchased (even if you are one of their customers, and even if you purchased one of their repair plans.) The frustration shows in their workers, and they often take it out on the customers. I've had one repair person I waited weeks to schedule and hours to appear tell me how rushed they were and walk off before a repair is complete. I've had the dispatcher cancel appointments I'd waited weeks for because I had an emergency and and left them a key to get in. There are a lot of tactics to shift the blame back to the customer that seem well rehearsed. The defects never seem to be the products, always the customer. The miscommunication seems at times to be deliberate. I've called weekly or more during this period, sent emails with videos showing how my appliance isn't performing and the all have seemed to vanish into the ether Based upon a recent bill which exceeds the cost of my appliance which still has not been repaired, excessive billing appears another form of retaliation for asking them to actually stand behind the products they sell. I also have begun to question the quality of the mark-downs in their warehouse, as these seem especially problem prone. I've asked for the history of the appliances I've purchased, and been ignored. Though truthfully I can't tell if the lack of response is evasion, or simply an overtaxed system with unhappy angry workers who don't have the time to respond. In the context of COVID, not having access to appliances goes beyond poor performance. If one is supposed to access hand sanitizer, and wash hands at every opportunity, how is one served if they can't have access to clean clothes or dishes after investing a four digit figure in their appliances? At point of sale I, like many was told, if Dewaard and Bode can't repair a product you purchase from them they'll replace it. That was part of the package I was told I was getting and why I purchased from them. I've even managed to extract the promise of replacement if no repair could be performed from a supervisor in my many communications. Yet after my most recent visit, one I've waited months for, I've no reliable appliances, and now been emailed a bill that seeks to extort me inordinate amounts of money for repeated bungled performances, with a four figure cost higher than any of my individual appliances. Additionally the time I've taken off from work, and lost hours communicating and communicating the same facts over and over again, taking days at home hoping their technician will show up, have long surpassed the cost of the appliances I've purchased. There's a reason DeWaard and Bode's most common review is 1 Star. I was an enthusiastic customer they've turned into another. read more

Went in to buy a freezer as they were the only ones in Bellingham to have the size I wanted. I was told free delivery and paid my bill. After I left I noticed a hookup charge listed for $19.95. I went back and asked why it would be $19.95 to put a plug in the wall? I was then told "Well the delivery is free to your home but not in your home. Because of liability we charge the extra fee to cover liability." This is what that clown of a salesman actually told me. While we were out and about running some errands, we happened to be near the Dewaard and Bode outlet and thought we would check it out. Seriously, 15 minutes of my life I will never get back. I felt like I was in a car dealership. The salesperson was super arrogant and like he was doing us a favor. He greeted us and asked us what we were looking for. I said, "we are just checking it out". He said "it"?(image that in an arrogant tone). Unfortunately, we couldn't shake him off and he wouldn't let us just look around. He sauntered around the sales floor with his hand in his pocket. I'm personally not a needy shopper and would prefer to look around and seek out the assistance and advice of the salesperson if we found something that caught our eye. So much information we could never fully absorb, trying to get us to purchase more expensive appliances. Poor service & will not take your 1 year warranty repair seriously. We purchased all of our appliances (refrigerator, oven, washer, dryer & dishwasher) all within 3 months from DeWaard & Bode. The Fridgidaire refrigerator made a struggling fan noise and they came out 3 times in the 1 year warranty time to "try" to fix it. Instead of fixing it they only did the bare minimum like wiping out the ice build up inside the ice maker, then the 2nd visit to determine that it needed a new seal. Waited for the seal to finally come in & they replaced it and it is still making the noise. I was assured if it continued they would do the repairs out of the 1 year warranty as long as it was the same issue occurring. Now they will not fix it since we are out of the 1 year warranty. From the start I would show them videos of what I took of the noise the fan made struggling to run & when I opened the door it would die out. I suggested over and over I really though it was a motor or fan issue & my concerns of running out of time with the 1 year warranty. I don't repair appliances but it was obvious. Last call the poor employee just kept apologizing and saying he couldn't get his supervisor to do anything and I needed to call with in 30 days after the last repair. Oh well these guys are a scam like so many others. You think you are shopping more local with more local service but don't be fooled. They will BS you all the way through. read more

We have been left without a working refrigerator for 9 (!) days while they try to fit us in for a repair (a warranty repair on a part that was replaced 2 1/2 years ago, why they don't just replace the fridge is another issue). So when Steve and I got home late afternoon on the third, we found a puddle of water standing on the beautiful wooden kitchen floor. It was coming from the refrigerator. It was close to 5:00. The freezer was defrosting and the refrigerator was 55 degrees. We called every appliance repair in the area and no one could get out to even take a look before the 14th!!! We had wedding leftovers and lots of food at risk. Everything was still cold and frozen, we caught it just in time, but all the coolers were still in Birch Bay, since we didn't have room in the car to bring them home after the wedding. We decided we had to get another refrigerator since we were left with no other options at 5:00 pm the day before a holiday. We first went to Costco but realized when we got there, Steve didn't have his wallet. We came back to the house and looked and looked for it, we searched the cars, it was no where to be found. We started calling all the places he had been since before the wedding as he hadn't used his wallet for days. We finally found it in a pair of sweats in his suitcase. Then we headed to Home Depot, since we found out Costco wouldn't deliver unless we ordered it online. To make this long stressful story shorter, we went to four places near our home and no one could deliver a refrigerator or they didn't have any in stock until the 7th. We finally found a very reputable locally owned appliance store that was still open and yesterday they delivered our new refrigerator! Shout out to Dewaard and Bode of Burlington they came to our rescue!!!! Justin (our salesman) worked hard to help us and went above and beyond to make sure we didn't lose a thing. I went in with my wife the salesman tried to oversell us on a front loaded set of washer and dryer. We asked to look at clothes dryer only. I spent just under five hundred dollars on a Whirlpool Dryer, cord and disposal. Listening to the customer is sometimes the hardest thing a salesman does, however it is important. I don't know if they offer extended warranties or even what the warranty on the unit covers. Training the salesman is not the customers responsibility. read more

I have bought three major appliances from D & B. They always seem to offer great prices and great service during the process. However, this last time on my third purchase, I had a pretty significant problem with my refrigerator. They came out within just a few days of the issue to diagnose the problem. Unfortunately the problem persisted and continued to be subject to additional problems thereafter. Much to my surprise, DeWaard & Bode offered whatever they could to fix it after realizing a replacement part would take months to arrive. They were able to get me a completely NEW fridge seamlessly. I told the manager I spend lots of money there and intend to continue to and his response was 'That's great, but honestly I just want to do the right thing every time when we can. Even if you were a first time shopper with us, you're important and we want to be able to continue to do business this way'. I'm absolutely blown away. I was given a full refund and will be going in to pick up my new fridge this week. What great folks, great company and above average service that far exceeded my expectations. Their service department was attentive, competent and supportive throughout the process, helping to get compensation from the manufacturer for parts and, once all repair options were exhausted, to assist with a refund and replacement. The staff at DeWaard and Bode could have abandoned us, but, instead, they made sure that the problem was ultimately resolved. What has happened to these guys? Abysmal customer support. Received a broken dishwasher that flooded my kitchen. Turns out they knew these were bad models, but sold them to me anyway even though I bought a full kitchen package from them. When I called to have them fix it they tried to make me feel like it was MY FAULT, and when trying to correct their incorrect information, they talk over the top of me and make me feel completely BULLIED. They refused to offer any help except to charge ADDITIONAL FEES to fix their faulty equipment that damaged my brand new house. I just went into the store to look into setting up an outdoor kitchen/BBQ area and looked around for a couple minutes. The gal at the front desk was super friendly which turned out to be the only highlight. The sales person who greeted me was nice enough, and even seemed knowledgeable but didn't really bother to find out much about what I was looking for, looked up a couple options on line and told me what he thought I needed (his recommendation seemed to based on nothing more than price). I asked about a particular company that does more high end outdoor kitchens and he told me that he had just done one for a professional hockey player and that they are normally about 15k or more. He then walked away from me and left me standing by myself at the counter. I guess this was where I was supposed to jump in and let him know that I make plenty of money to buy the same set up as I work as a successful sales training manager for a huge company.
