Shelly was very friendly and helpful. I bought the Sebo airbelt D4 premium canister vacuum and my wife says it blows our old Dyson Animal ball vacuum away. We have indoor free roaming rabbits in our house, with lots of fur and bit of hay too. The Sebo had no problem getting both of these out of the carpet. We got the warranty extended from 7 years to 10 years by buying from Quality Sewing and Vacuum since they are an authorized dealer. read more

Very knowledgeable staff. Lots of fun looking sewing machines in stock (I'm a guy but appreciate a good machine for sewing boat covers etc). I needed first a belt then later a bag for a Kirby vacuum: the belt was incredibly cheap and I was able to walk out with it in hand in under a minute. The bags were a bit more expensive (ok, went for the HEPA version which does cost), and they were able to describe the different fitments assuring I got the correct version. I use this local shop for classes on my embroidery machine, parts, service plan, notions and more. This family owned business is a tremendous resource in our community. So very friendly and helpful. The have the newest machines available to test out if you are looking to upgrade or purchase a first machine. Classes for new owners help you learn to use your machine following purchase. You can purchase a lifetime machine maintenance plan so you pay nothing for that yearly cleaning and check up so that your machine is always in top condition. Local and national teachers offer classes, and the shop stocks all the thread, needles, and supplies that you will need for sewing, quilting, and embroidery. In my town there are no other fabric shops so Quality Sewing started to carry fabric for the quilting customers. Much appreciated! read more

If you're serious about clean floors, by all accounts German vacs are the way to go, in particular Miele and Sebo. QS&V carries both. Sebo in particular is the stronger brand, they have a heavier build, longer warranty, and are dedicated to vacuums as their main business. Salespeople are friendly, and they offered a very fair price. Highly recommended. read more

I've sorta been avoiding writing a review of Quality Sewing because, well, a few years back I had a not-that-great experience trying to buy a sewing machine from them and ended up buying it elsewhere. Which was a bummer, because I really like to support local businesses. Fast forward a bit, and I ran into Paul, their owner, at the Puyallup Sew Expo. I mentioned my experience and he was genuinely concerned. He gave me his card and encouraged me to give them another chance. He even gave me a fantastic deal on a new serger that day as an olive branch. But still, I avoided going back to the store much because my previous experience there had felt high pressure. Fast forward another year or so and this week I found myself near Quality Sewing and could not resist the allure of the giant "30% off one item" sign on their sidewalk. Hey, I'm a sewing junkie. There are plenty of "items" I can imagine needing at any given moment in time. So I went inside and took a look around at the various accessories they have nicely displayed on their walls. I also noticed they were having a pretty sweet sale on machines that day. And, well, I *have* been in the market for an embroidery machine after all. When a staff member, Mallory, approached me to offer assistance (they are very good about that, by the way, and oh-so-knowledgeable about everything in the store) I asked about the embroidery machines and told her my budget. Guess what? She didn't try to talk me out of my budget! She showed me several machines in my range and told me about their financing options. It was a completely different experience than my first time trying to buy a machine there. I felt hopeful and optimistic that perhaps their sales strategy had changed. The embroidery machine I was interested in wasn't in stock at the Bellingham store, but I was able to put down a small deposit and they promised it would arrive by Tuesday so I could check it out live and in person before buying it. And they would honor the Saturday-only sale price. On Tuesday afternoon there I was down at the store, with the very helpful Sig unboxing it for me and showing me how it worked. Since I was brand new to machine embroidery she was very patient with me, explaining different thread types and the importance of stabilizers. She also showed me a few other machines around the store so I could compare features, and explained their AWESOME trade-up policy (if I decide I want a different machine within the next 12 months I can trade my machine in on a new one)! She spent a lot of time with me, which was very much appreciated. I ended up walking out of the store with that lovely, brand new Innov-is machine, a few accessories to get me started, and enough knowledge from Sig's impromptu training session to quickly whip out a couple of fast projects as soon as I got home! Oh and she helped me sign up for a (free!) class to help me learn more about my machine. It gives me great pleasure to write this 5-star review for a company I once swore I'd never do business with again. And not only that, I look forward to doing business with them again in the very near future. Because, who are we kidding, you KNOW I'm gonna want an even cooler embroidery machine! :) read more

I took my sewing machine here to have sent off for a tuneup. I also mentioned that the light was broken and it would be great if they fix that too. Turns out the part is no longer available for my older machine so they returned the machine with a tuneup done and no charge because they couldn't fix the light. I recently purchased a new Pfaff from Quality in Bellingham. I also purchased an older model from them years ago. Because of the first purchase experience, I searched elsewhere for a dealer but soon discovered that Quality is still the only one near where I live. I love my new machine! It's just what I'd hope it would be. However, again, my experience with Quality was lacking. I went in for a class on how to use my new machine... I know how to sew, but I wanted to learn what all the terms on the display screen meant, what they would do. The first thing the woman teaching the class discussed, at length, was the benefits of purchasing the warranty... at $450. Not what I was there for. After showing her that I did indeed know how to use a sewing machine, we moved on and she was able to demonstrate how to use a few stitches I was unfamiliar with. But she could not explain the function of many of the terms on the display screen. She referred me to another person who "really knows these machines". She did not. There was no one able to use or explain all the features on the new machine. This is disturbing because there are only a handful of Pfaff models they sell... and many of the features are the same throughout the line. Surely the staff could familiarize themselves with the workings of each model. I realize they also carry other brands, but come on... these sewing machines sell for nearly $2000. Wouldn't it be worth insisting the staff know how to use them? If there were another dealer around, I would highly recommend you shop elsewhere. But if you want a Pfaff, which I do recommend, this is the only place to get it... sadly. read more

I had bought a Riccar cannister from them a number of years ago. This past month, the roller blade was not working. I called and was able to bring it in the same day. I received a call telling me what needed to be done. When a part was not available in the store, they called and let me know there would be a slight delay. The part came from one of their other locations and was quickly installed and I was able to pick up my machine. The staff were all helpful and knowledgeable about the products. I recently visited Quality Sewing to purchase a sewing machine. The woman wrote up the price of each of the three machines I considered buying. There was no mention that a floor model was available or that the price she quoted for the most expensive machine was the floor model. I even asked if there was a floor model available and she said no. I went back a week later with quotes in hand to purchase the $599 Machine. Instead she charged me $699 alleging that she told me the $100 increase in price was the cost of a brand new machine. When I questioned the transaction, she had the audacity to laugh at me. So unprofessional and such deceptive salesmanship. Be very careful should you choose to do business here. read more

I went in to this place for the first time last week. They were awesome. My machine was broken and they offered to take a look at it for free. The girl spent quite a bit of time trouble shooting my machine to see what was wrong with it and to see if it could be fixed. I felt like she was very honest and helpful. I really appreciated her time, especially since I went in there with a bottom of the line sewing machine that I only paid $100 for 10 years ago. It turned out that my machine would cost more to repair than to buy a new one, and they were very helpful in helping me pick a new machine. My budget was only $100 and they were very accommodating and not snobby about the fact that I purchased their cheapest machine in the store. I thought they were GREAT and they even offered to give me a free lesson with my new machine. I really had a great experience here and I think it is a must for sewers in the area. I am really a newbie sewer. I can sew straight lines and that is about it with respect to my sewing skills. I am a photographer and was sewing together two blackout panels when the bobbin cartridge literally shot up out of my Singer machine. I took the machine into Quality Sewing & Vacuum today to see what could be done. The staff at the store was so amazingly sweet and helpful. They were able to fix the bobbin cartridge right there on the spot for no charge. Then they suggested a silicone-coated needle which would be better for the blackout material than the standard needle I was using. I am pretty sure I was still using the needle that came with the machine...did I mention I am pretty clueless about sewing? Ha! They also gave me some information about beginners sewing lessons for both myself and for my daughter. Great customer service. Highly recommended! read more

I have been in three times to learn more about the newest technologies in sewing machines. I have truly enjoyed these very informative visits. I have a bonded with a sales consultant who has been patient, courteous and fun to deal with. My husband suggested I buy on the internet. No way. I struggle with this rating--I'd like to give a 1star, but I've been in the store several times and have always had a great experience. My mother has also been a regular shopper and has been treated well. But yesterday was a completely different story. I brought in a serger to be fixed. I know they charge more than other places, but given my prior positive experiences and the fact that they regularly and patiently re-threaded this machine for my elderly mom every time she needed it, I was willing to pay the extra $$. When I brought in the machine I emphasized that I knew I broke the machine and that I was inexperienced with it (its a serger that my mom *just* gave to me--I know traditional sewing machines better). The sales rep *instantly* got frustrated with me and started treating me like an idiot. "You REALLY need to take a class." Huge sighs, eye rolls, etc. everything phrased negatively. "Do you even know what this is?" I was so taken aback by her attitude that I shut down. She'd ask me questions and I just couldn't think of the answer. I've been shamed enough in my life to know that's what she was doing. In my head I kept practicing phrases to confront her behavior: "I'm sorry my ignorance with sergers is so offensive to you. Never mind, I'll take my business elsewhere." But I kept my mouth shut and worked on being patient to see if I could actually learn anything from her. She finally assessed that the machine needed to go to the repair shop (duh! I told her that when I brought it in!!!) and said that it'd cost me $180 just to have it looked at plus parts. (Again, duh. I already knew that before I entered the store.) I was willing to pay the hefty repair bill even though I know of several places that are cheaper and have been told are better. But she acted like it was so expensive it wasn't worth fixing, and immediately started showing me new machines, which were, of course $1600-$2600--a far cry from a couple of hundred bucks to get this serger repaired. So, if you decide to give the store a try, find someone other than Sig to help you. And be vocal if you're not treated well. And if you need repairs, consider finding another store--even if it means going to Canada. That's where I'm headed now... read more

I took my Mom's old sewing machine (early 1970's Singer) in to get it repaired. She's had her machine forever, it's like an old friend. They sent it out for a quote & we got a call a few days later. They said they didn't think they make parts for it anymore but if they could find parts it would be over $500 to fix it. They tried to sell her on getting a new machine, we declined. I took her machine to Marysville Sew & Vac a few days later. The guy said he was backed up & it might be a week or so. We got a call the next day with a quote for less that $100 to fix it. We approved, machine was fixed the next day!! It works great! I told the guy at Marysville Sew & Vac about my experience in Bellingham at Quality Sewing & Vacuum, he said he hears that a lot. I took my sister's sewing machine into get it fixed at Marysville Sew & Vac, I won't go anywhere else for machine repair. read more

I received a flyer in the mail, saw a really good sale on a rug shampooer so went in to look around. They were all so very friendly and willing to help, they even took it out to my vehicle. Other sewing centers were not "Yelped" as high so we made the long drive. The service was very efficient and friendly. The old Viking machine was not stitching properly. After a lengthy diagnosis the problem was found....a bent needle. There was no cost so we felt we had to buy some needles. Definitely 5 star service. read more
