I haven't had Dewey's Pizza in well over 6 years and it was just as delicious as I remembered. I ordered both their seasonal pizza and seasonal salad via their easy online ordering platform and picked it up about 20 minutes later. The seasonal pizza was basically a taco pizza with beans, ground beef, tomato, lettuce and a chipotle sauce. It was delicious. Reminded me of when I used to get the Mexican pizza at CPK growing up. I got the 17" to share with others and the slices were huge, probably could have gotten a medium. The seasons salad was a strawberry macadamia nut salad with blue cheese crumbles and like a raspberry vinaigrette. It was perfect, fresh and delicious. I grew up in Cleveland Heights and always hold that suburb in high esteem. After seeing a movie at the Cedar Lee Theatre, we ventured across Lee Road with a purpose. Time to get some eats, and only Dewey's Pizza would do. It's bright and welcoming inside the restaurant with booths and tables to handle the crowd. Came here with a party of four on a Saturday night, and they're able to see us promptly and take our orders quickly. The service here was great, with water coming out quickly, and the waiters being attentive. On the advice of the waiter, the four of us got two large 17 inch pizzas, which was a good amount if you're hungry, and we did have about half a pizza left over. We ordered the porky pig, which has fig and prosciutto, and is absolutely delicious. It's on the sweeter side, but we all really enjoyed it. The Socrates' revenge is a great veggie pizza, and the fresh tomatoes were a big hit with our group. This is technically my second time trying Dewey's Pizza as I had it at a party years ago and liked it. But this was my first time actually visiting the location myself and, boy oh boy, the parking situation is TERRIBLE! I really had to work to get this pizza. Was it worth it? Let's find out! I ordered a half and half of Porky Fig and Yukon Cornelius on an 11" pizza. It cost me $18.50 (YIKES!) and, even with an hour's heads up, it was ready about ten minutes after I arrived. Oh well, no big deal. Let's move on to taste. So from what I gather, this is a mix between thin and pan pizza style crust. The crust is pretty flat but this isn't 100% a thin crust pizza. I don't have a preference either way and liked the taste of the crust. Like I said, I got two different specialties on my 11" pizza. The Porky Fig was very creative! I enjoyed the sweetness of the fig jam underneath the cheese. I should have asked for it without the gorgonzola. If it didn't have the stinky cheese, it would have been perfect. Despite the stinky cheese, the Porky Fig was far and away the better of the two. The Yukon Cornelius pizza is Dewey's versiom of a loaded baked potato. But Angelo's in Lakewood does that combination better. Dewey's needed a lot more toppings than what I had on mine. Also, why did my pizza taste slightly of anchovies? It was super weird. Don't bother with Dewey's loaded potato pizza, honestly. I ate it all because I am a glutton for pizza, but I should have opted for a different specialty. Overall, the (mostly) tasty pizzas that took me out of my comfort zone, but the price is way WAY too high! $13-14 dollars would have been perfect. And if you can get someone ELSE to pick up the pizza for you, it'll make for a better experience. read more

Fantastic dining experience! My group of 8 went there to celebrate my birthday and the service and food were both outstanding. The manager and wait staff were highly attentive and even surprised me with a birthday gift (a Dewey's pint glass)! Food was delicious & served hot! We've heard amazing things about Dewey's Pizza and decided to try it out in the hopes that we would find our new favorite pizza place. Although I don't think Dewey's topped the list, I think what they do really well is bang for buck. This was an enormous pizza for quite cheap, and they did not skimp on the toppings. Day one of Cleveland Pizza Week and decided that I would give Dewey's in Cleveland Heights a try on my way home from work. Called in an order for a to go pizza, got there a bit early. I paid and was told I would have to wait about 10 minutes, time to check out the kitchen as they make pizzas and just hang. About 15 minutes I asked what was going on and they went back to the kitchen and grabbed the pizza off the top of the oven where it had been sitting for a bit; not the best first impression. Got the Caprice pizza which is made with fresh garlic, olive oil, blistered tomatoes, fresh basil and fresh mozzarella. The pie features thin crust, a bit chewy instead of being crisp, but nice flavor. The garlic and olive oil has a nice aroma but was a bit mild to my taste, I would have preferred more powerful garlic. The cheese was nice with just a bit of bite and a slight saltiness. The highlight of the pie were the tomatoes, vibrant and a bit sweet providing the most flavor they could. Overall the pizza worked well as a whole with all of the elements coming together to make a nice symphony of flavor. Overall I was happy with Dewey's but it helped that I only had to pay $8 during Pizza Week for the pie; I am not sure if I will give them another try. They need to be really aware of when the pizza is ready and to get it out of the kitchen and to the customer. read more

To-go order: The salad was good (candied walnut and grape). I ordered a calzone with red sauce, sausage, olives and artichoke. I should have known when it was described as "sausage" that it wouldn't be the kind of italian sausage that is usual in pizza, especially in an "upscale" place. Sure enough, it was the kind of stick sausage that tasted like bologna, sliced cold and just tossed in, not browned or or cooked after it was sliced. Zero sausage flavor because zero sausage spice or Italian herbs (no garlic, thyme, sage, fennel or caraway--just some salt). I heated up the red sauce (served stone cold) and poured it over the calzone; I FORGOT that unlike other pizza restaurants, Dewey makes its red sauce with a heavy dose of cayenne pepper, with no mention of its heat on the menu. So I could barely eat it (I hate "hot" food--I have a sensitivity to cayenne, jalepeño, etc.) I've never been at another restaurant whose regular red sauce was so spicy-hot! Usually at least customers are offered a choice. So overall mediocre calzone (crust was very tough and chewy) with inedible red sauce as a garnish. Not what I was hoping for. read more

This pizza is finger licking good!!!. It comes out super hot, fresh and fantastic every single time. The craft beers are great and they have an excellent which changes seasonally. They really take PIZZA TO THE NEXT LEVEL. I highly recommend getting a salad and a pizza to try. A small will feed one very hungry person. A medium pizza will fees two pretty hungry people. And a large pizza will feed a small family of four who are averagely hungry. I love this place and always impressed with their fresh ingredients. Be prepared to pay for Valet parking or find a place farther away to park on a side street. You also might be in for a wait if you come on a weekend night during lunch or dinner hours. I have always been a Dewey's fan, but tonight they out did themselves. Due to social distancing, quarantining, and the governors recent order to only allow restaurants to do carry out, Dewey's started selling pizza kits. These kits included everything you would need to have a successful pizza night at home! We were able to order any pizza off of the menu and they provided the dough, sauce, cheese, and toppings. It was then our job to shape our dough, assemble, and bake the pizzas. We had so much fun with this! It made being stuck in the house on a Saturday night not so boring. The price point was fantastic and the pizza was delicious! Unfortunately, I doubt this option will be available long term. But! Once Dewey's is back open, I highly recommend going there to try their pizza or ordering one of their take and bake pizzas. read more

Fast paced pizza place. Great draft beer line up for such a small selection. Deweys only has salad, pizza, or calzones. The side salad is amazing with great flavor and fresh ingredients. Five star service and really well topped ingredient combos BUT pizza is all about the crust. That's all about the flour you use, and if you amend it. Theirs is kind of bready-buttery, as they oil the edges, and the flour is not a high gluten (Yes, glutenphobes, run for the hills! EEEVIL lurks here.) flour that gets that chewy doughy richness. It also kind of keeps the white pizza's top from cooking fully, so you get a little doughy mushy with your toppings. It's not bad pizza, but a bit better flour, or more time in the mixer to get the chew factor a bit happier would be great! The atmosphere is excellent. Fun for a pizza joint is important. The atmosphere is great and service is fast! My friends and I love stopping by Dewey's--their porky fig, Dr. Dre, and Green Lantern are so damn delicious and have the best ingredient combos. Thin crust which tastes good but does not transport that well. Dewey's also always has really delicious rotating specials that are pretty much the same price as their specialty pizzas. Tonight we got to try the outgoing special called the Woodstock, which was a vegetarian (!!) special with three types of mushrooms, these tangy mini red peppers, garlic, and vegan apple-sage sausage. It is probably my new favorite along side the porky fig. My only issues with this location is that for such a popular place, the parking situation is really difficult. The Dewey's parking lot is really tiny and it is also hard to make a u-turn to get out if you realize that there are no spots. read more

Whenever I want to spend $20 on a single pizza that will surely satisfy my tastebuds, I go to Dewey's. I have a few go to selections, their ability to combine toppings that compliment each other's flavors has never required me to decide on my own pizza design. A couple faves, Edgar Allen Poe, Socrates Revenge and Ryan's Inferno. They also have seasonal selections as well, which we decided to venture outside of the comfort zone and try. The harvest salad was our first choice, with pumpkin seeds, dried figs, bacon and Boursin cheese mixed on a bed of greens. The apple cider honey vinaigrette dressing was light and tossed into the salad. I loved it! The combo of crunchy, salty, creamy and toasty was a fantastic introduction to fall. We ordered the regular size salad and shared between two people. We managed to get our share and have some leftover for later, only because our pizza came out so quickly. It would not have stood a chance otherwise. The pizza in question is called Tito Santana. Basically a taco pizza. They use taco sauce as a base with seasoned ground beef, chihuahua cheese, mild cheddar and red onions. Once baked they add more deliciousness in the form of crumbled corn chips, shredded lettuce, chipotle ranch and diced tomatoes. The server did state that she loves this pizza and it reoccurs twice a year because of its popularity. It was like a crunchy taco on pizza bread. I managed to get some extra limes to zest it up, as far as taco pizzas go it was the best. Finally, they ALSO had a seasonal beer on draft called Arriba Santana by Mad Tree Brewing Co. Get this, they made the beer specifically for the pizza! So I had to order one, duh! It comes garnished with a lime, usually. If yours is lacking one they will happily get you one, especially if your fellow diner orders one a little later than you and it comes along rubbing your face in its citrus glory. It reminded me of a cervesas style beer with more depth, a nice compliment to the pizza. Keep in mind, this is an expensive place for pizza. So be ready to foot a $40 bill for drinks, pizza and salad. read more
