To be clear, we never objected to following posted guidelines. We understand there are rules in a children's salt room. With an 18 month old and a four year old, some salt occasionally ends up outside the sandbox area. That is simply reality. If the business needs to charge a small cleaning fee when that happens, that is completely reasonable. We would gladly pay it. What is not reasonable is being treated like a problem instead of a customer. On more than one occasion, feedback was delivered through body language, abrupt door handling, and indirect comments, including waiting until I stepped out to address concerns with my 37 week pregnant wife. There was also a direct comparison that "this doesn't happen when the nanny comes," which felt personal and unnecessary. This was never about refusing to follow policies. It was about professionalism and basic respect. We have referred multiple families over the years who have independently shared similar feedback about James' tone and demeanor. His wife has always been warm and welcoming. Unfortunately, James' presence creates a very different experience. If you are considering The Salt Retreat, know that the therapy itself is excellent.
