I have been a member of this gym for years and I love it! The staff are all friendly and helpful. I take 3 or 4 classes a week, 2 yoga classes and a pop pilates class from Laura and Body Works from Debby. They are both excellent teachers! It is completely impossible to end your membership charges. My husband and I have called and left about 10 messages for the manager. We have talked to 3-4 different people and asked it end. Nope, 4 months later we are still trying to get it cancelled. No wonder the rating is so terrible. Mostly a manager problem. Joined this fitness facility a couple of months ago. Staff is knowledgeable and welcoming. Every type of workout equipment you need is here Stations are organized and easy to move about. Pool and bathrooms are clean Hired a personal trainer and it's the best thing I've done for myself in years! Obie customized my program and his hands on guidance is a Huge difference maker. I've been to 12 or so locations in DFW and this one is by far the worst. Equipment stays broken for weeks, lockers are falling apart, soap and towels are constantly empty, sewer vents are obviously backed up because the locker room always smells like sewage. Unfortunately it's the closest one to my office but when I'm driving around town for meetings I purposely find another location. read more

LA Fitness in Richardson has gone downhill dramatically recently. Management's main goal is to sign more membership, not keeping the facility in good shape. There are leaks in the shower plumbing. Jacuzzi does not work and not clean half of the time I went there. Nobody change the men's locker room clock for daylight saving time (it's minor issue, but indication of their lack of diligence.) I am ready to cancel my membership. read more

This club has many positive qualities, including courteous staff, very friendly and helpful customers, and a very good assortment of exercise equipment. I have been a member since 2014. When I joined in 2014 I was given a scan card which made entry into the club as quick and easy as possible. Recently, however, my scan card was lost and I was told that scan cards are no longer given. So what, just use your phone for scan and quick entry. Actually, I have a phone that could be used for that purpose, but I don't care to carry that phone around during a workout. With much training I discovered that I could go through an entire workout without once needing my phone attached to my ears to listen to all the wonderful things that the phone offers. I also checked and found out that it is not a felony to travel in Richardson without a phone. I am now required to give my phone number to a staff member to gain entry. I can now waste my time to give my phone number to the staff and waste the staff's time to check that number. For me, relatively minor issues are equipment scheduled for maintenance for long periods of time and failure by customers to return free weights to the proper racks. read more

This gym is filthy! On a regular basis, there is no soap in the dispensers in the bathroom , or dirty paper towels on the floor out in the gym. The equipment is never wiped down . Around the equipment , there is hair and dust balls , trash and dirt. I plan to cancel my membership after having just joined a few weeks ago. read more

Wow this had to be the most salesy gym I've ever been to. I signed up my boyfriend and I for a 3 day free pass to try out the gym he gave me a phone call shortly after and said I needed to make an appointment, he got an attitude over the phone because I was trying to figure out the best time for both of us to come in and when that happened my boyfriend hung up. The following day we go in, we take a tour of the place and right after before even using the gym he immediately was pushing for us to both get membership. He kept us in little cubicle for like 45 when we came to try out the gym, he was still pushing after I said I needed to think about it because my boyfriend is unemployed. She then requires to leave our ID which I've never heard of and thought that was so out of pocket because you already have my information, your not the police so why do you need to hang onto my ID? Just weird energy. After we finished our workout he makes us sit down with him again, I tell him about our situation and he was still trying to push it. At that point I was was getting annoyed and pretty much told him I'm not signing up, then he said he wouldn't be able to offer me that discount which honestly there wasn't any. He went on to make up a story about we can't go to any another gym to use the free pass to try it out because some guy ruined it for everybody for which I thought in my head I would just tell them how horrible your customer service was and how you made it an uncomfortable experience. I strongly dislike the snippy attitude with the fake smile and snarky comments that felt very much directed to my boyfriend and I. In my honest and fair opinion, 60$ a month plus add on 20$ more dollars to bring a guest for a membership isn't worth it really if you're mostly going to be using free weights and a few machines. I really liked that they had a punching bag though. The pool area smelt funky. Regardless of what time it is, you're still waiting for certain machines. I would recommend this for an older crowd like 40-60 orders. I'd recommend planet fitness black card, you can bring a guest whenever, no extra charge. They have tanning beds and hydra massages. They have a crowd meter so you can see if it's busy or not. Free fitness training, you can go to any location. read more

She should quit her job because she is suck at it. Respect needs to be earned. She cant treat people like craps and ask them to be nice to her. This location is rotten now. After it's remodel (2017?), it was great. Now, it's filthy. Soap and paper towel dispensers are missing from the walls, the men's sauna is so rickety, someone is going to get injured. I bet there are ten lockers right now with doors falling off the hinges. Speaking of hinges, one bathroom stall doesn't have a door, and the walls aren't completely secured to the floor. It's unfortunate this is a convenient location, because it's miserable. read more

A friend of mine recommended me to come here while I was looking around to open a gym membership. This place is the cheapest I've seen hands down... But what made me not open a membership was the manager. Me and my fiancé came and Blake gave us a tour. Nice guy and knew his information pretty well but when we came to sit down, he came off as pushy and rude. I understand that they may need people to join considering all the flyers and signs outside but if I say I'm looking at other gyms and I'll see about opening a membership after considering all my options then that's what I mean... And the guy kept asking why wouldn't I sign up and I felt like I was just pissing him off. For a moment, there was an awkward silence and I felt really guilty... And when I asked for a card to keep in touch, he handed it to me with a pissed attitude. He probably didn't intend to... I don't know but after that, I didn't want to be going back to sign up for a gym membership even if it wasn't him helping me sign up because I would probably be trying to avoid him every day I came. read more

Have kids? Avoid this location altogether. They've been reducing hours for kids club and now only schedule one worker for the Saturday morning (the only time kids club is open all weekend). I've been a member for a little over a year and was sent home this morning, unable to attend a class, as kids club was already over capacity. Again, this morning is the only time kids club is available for the weekend. It's unfortunate as the club has recently been refreshed with new flooring, paint and some updated machines. Additionally there are some great classes and instructors. I do not understand why LA Fitness does not prioritize the Kids Club as it opens the club and fitness to families. It is a greedy and short sighted decision that ultimately doesn't benefit the image of the club. read more

I gave this location a 4 because it's not as busy as other locations whether it's morning, afternoon or early evening. Time is very valuable to me and ranks high on my needs. This location fits my needs because I like to work out as quickly as possible with minimal rest in between sets. If you're someone who feeds off a busy gym with very active personal trainers, this location isn't for you. Overall, the gym is a 2.5 Pros: The lady that I check-in with always greets me with a friendly hello. The gym is never too busy, allowing me to follow my normal routine. I can move from machine to station without having to wait too long for someone to finish their sets if occupied. Parking is never a problem. The men's locker room does not smell bad. Cons: This location has a SERIOUS problem with members not racking their weights(putting weights back where they belong). I don't like waiting around to see if someone went to get a drink of water or something and don't want to come off as rude for taking someone's spot. There are not as many paper towel and disinfectant stations as other locations; I am courteous and wipe down equipment after I use it. The water fountains dispense water that is a little warmer than I'd like. There is no free Wi-Fi available. I like to stream music/video while doing post-workout cool down cardio or recovery cardio. I do not use the pool, toilets, saunas, showers, racquetball courts, basketball court, group fitness room or personal trainer and have never interacted with employees aside from when I'm checking-in. Yes, there is going to be some equipment that is worn or broken but it's normal wear and tear. The stationary bikes have power meters. They do not have a juice bar in case you're wondering and I can't remember if they offer daycare. read more

The customer service was horrible, I had a guest pass to check out the gym I was planning to get a membership with LA Fitness and cancel my membership with Equinox Gym. I had the worst experience with LA fitness at Richardson, TX, even though I had a guest pass, and planning to get a membership, Bernard Davis- General Manager ; who was standing on the counter told me he can't honor the guest pass and that I have to pay $15 to access the gym, the guest pass didn't mention anything about a fee. Even thought I was willing to pay the $15 dollars. When I wanted to pay in cash using they only bills that I had with me were $100's and $50's, Bernard Davis- General Manager, and his other associates told me that they can't give me change back, so they wanted to keep the $35 dollars. I don't know who hired them to be a good represent LA Fitness, but they are doing a horrible job in being friendly and welcoming. Don't join Richardson, TX, LA Fitness Gym, and if they have the same staff in All locations, don't join LA Fitness until they change the staff members. read more

Hi, I switched to LA Fitness a couple months ago and signed up for a trainer. My first trainer was good but quit then it was different people here and there and most recently a pretty green trainer. Not a good first impression. I just got switched to Gino and he is AWESOME. Totally click and feel like he will help me meet my goals and make it fun in the process. Thanks for having him on! UPDATE: I'm disappointed to say that this location has rapidly gone downhill from when we first joined. The gym is now overcrowded (particularly with large groups of teens that use the gym as their hangout), dirty, and not very well maintained. More often than not, the cardio equipment is not working properly or completely out of order and there seems to be no real urgency in fixing the machines. Case in point - one of the stationary bikes has been broken for well over a month now. Locker rooms are less than clean and I won't even get started on the actual bathroom area.... The staff seems to rotate out of this location on a monthly basis and doesn't really seem to care. I don't think there is a single member of the training staff that was here when we initially joined the gym. I think the employees are so focused on making a sale that they really don't pay any attention to much else. While proximity is definitely a key consideration in joining a gym, if you're looking for something more than just the basics or are concerned with cleanliness this may not be the gym for you. read more

BEWARE OF THE GENERAL MANAGER! I think his name is Rick. He will talk to you like you are the scum of the earth. I think his second job is to look for an argument. He will lie to you right to your face. This location has the worst customer service because of him. I was told that I would have access to all location in Dallas after signing up, that was lie. I figured that out once I got denied access to the Preston location. I called this location to fix the issue and the general manager was the worst. He was very abrasive. Didn't listen to anything I was saying and continued to remind me that I could cancel my membership at any time. The staff was delightful especially Connor but I had to cancel my membership because of the managers attitude and demeanor. I didn't feel comfortable coming back. I went in to speak to Connor about why i was charged $29.99 and not the $24 I was promised (a discount through my employer) and the manager quickly came by, hovered over the desk to tell me I didn't listen to him and he explained all of this to me when i called. His attitude and demeanor had me a little shook. Being a women, I will not tolerate any man talking to me like that. I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone, especially a women. read more

I agree with Jessica C. on this one. I have only been going to this location for a little over a month now and am not satisfied with the cleanliness of the gym. I only go to this location because it is the closest one to home. So, Corporate, if you are reading, please make some changes and fix the items that need to be repaired. Areas where cleanliness are a concern: The showers, restrooms and locker rooms in particular are the worse when it comes to cleanliness. It always smells of mildew when I walk in and I never dare walk around barefoot. The bathroom counters are always wet and soap drips. The cleaning ladies try to remediate the problem by putting little squares of paper towels under the soap dispensers. It's unsightly. The walls and ceilings are covered in dust bunnies. I hate looking up or on the wall and seeing particles of dust blowing in the wind. My allergies are bad and this doesn't help the situation. Areas needing repair: Showers. Many of the hooks where you hang your towel on in the women's showers are broken and have not been replaced. Sauna. The women's sauna room door needs to be fixed. Every time someone opens the door it scratches the floor and makes a really loud, awful noise. My husband says that the sound is so loud he can hear someone opening the door from the men's sauna. Lockers. There are a few lockers in the women's locker room which have no handle, no hook to hang your lock on. One day, I had to switch lockers three times because it either didn't have a handle or a hook. My fault, I should have looked before I put my bag in. Other areas of concern: I am going off of what my husband told me... why are there blow dryers in the men's locker room and not in the women's locer rooms? We pay the same membership prices, do we not? There needs to be blow dryers in the women's locker rooms. The parking lot. I think there may be a need to put in some speed bumps in the parking lot. There have been many times where I was almost run over getting to and out of the gym. I am pretty cautious when I drive looking for a parking space and look out for pedestrians but some folks are not always this considerate. Speed bumps could make me feel a little safer walking to and from my car. read more

My friend and i had been working out in this gym for almost a year. we recently want to cancel a membership under her name, all the staffs told us something like "i'm new here","you have to be here 9~5 Monday to Friday to get it cancelled" why?"because the operating manager is not here" 1. why does the operating manager don't work after 5 pm? the gym is still open and running and "operating" 2. All the people who say they cannot do it. So what DO you do in this gym? only adding new membership but you can't take out one? 3. if we can only do it 9~5pm, are you telling us to skp work early just to do this? They gave us the option of mailing a form to cancel which takes the extra effort of stamps and going to post office. Why is this so hard? I know they are trying to make it hard for people to cancel memberships, but this kind of service is what will make them lost the members they already have. We use to have no problem cancelling another membership,so i know they can do cancel it and do not have to be a "Operating manager". read more

So I've been with LA since the summer and I've been going on a pretty consistent basis. My main gym is the on the Greenville which is my absolute favorite out of all the locations I've been to because it has all the machines I need in one spot. I have been to the Las Colinas and the one on Preston. Pros: Raquetball rooms are huge compared to the other locations. Has all the amenities like other gyms like sauna, swimming pool, kiddie gym, etc. Cons: No smoothie bar like the other locations. Machines are slightly outdated compared to some others. I don't expect much from a gym: 1) enough equipment for the number of members, so that we don't constantly have to wait, 2) machines that actually work, and 3) decent air conditioning. This seems simple but I could never find those things at a major competitor's locations, who weren't really open around the clock anyway. Therefore, I was thrilled to find that LA Fitness has what I need at a cheaper price. i am not sure what filth a recent reviewer actually saw but I can't validate anything in that account. Sure, the locker room and bathroom iaren't as nice as the workout facility at the Bellagio or the Four Seasons but it is definitely decent for a gym of this size. I particularly like the large wooden lockers that provide more than enough room for my stuff and don't smell like old, soiled socks. One huge bonus is that this place is rarely full. Heck, on weekends, you might actually get lonely while working out. My only complaint was with the initial sign-up process. The trainer that I originally talked to was too pushy over the phone and then did not keep our appointment when scheduled. Luckily, there was a nice dude on the premises who apologized and helped us get a good deal. Since, my wife has also had problems communicating with her trainer over the phone. Nevertheless, we chose LA to exercise not gab with the staff, so we are satisfied. read more
