It was a very crispy baguette stuff with the standard protein, vegetables, and packed with sauces. You can definitely feel the contrast in texture between the crispy baguette, tender meats and crunchy vegetables. The cold cut sandwich was good. You can really taste the butter type spread they put in, perhaps a bit too much. The chicken was good too, but I think they used Korean BBQ sauce to marinade it. I got here shortly after that time on a Saturday afternoon. This eatery is on the south side of Finch Avenue West, in a plaza with tight parking. I was heading westbound along a one-lane street thanks to construction. I made a right turn and looked for parking. Parking is interesting in this lot. You have a row of horizontal spots that require parallel parking skills. The rest of the spots behind the row are vertical. I decided to try my hand at parallel parking. It was a closer parking spot to the store and a challenge is good sometimes. It was a tight spot, but I managed to squeeze my car into it after three tries. I walked into the store. It's cute. I looked at the menu while staff helped a couple of customers ahead of me. I then looked at all the food and desserts around me. I was salivating. When it was my turn, I spoke to two women. They were super nice. I showed them my Too Good to Go app and the older woman prepared my order. The younger one was in front of the banh mi preparation area. Everything looked so good that I nearly got a sandwich. The woman packing my order was giving me a lot of stuff. I was impressed. I marked the order as completed on the app and she handed me my goodies. I looked at the steam buns behind the counter and asked what they were. The woman said that they were taro and mango. I got one of each because I have a weakness for steamed baos. I paid using my debit card. The transaction was seamless. I thanked both of them and headed to my car with my goodies. My food took a couple of days go get through it. The downside to ordering through this app is that I don't know the official names of the food. I will say that everything I ate was yummy. I got a tray with sliced cha chien, thin rice sheets that were shrivelled up, bean sprouts and cilantro, and fried onions, with some fish sauce-vinegar sauce. It was amazing! I loved everything about it. I'm salivating thinking about it. The next day, I had these little rice cakes stuffed with meat, with some fried onions and toppings on top. The dipping sauce was also there. I loved each bite. I had never had whatever I was eating before. So good! I then got a pointy rice package wrapped in leaves. It reminded me of the Chinese version, but this one was different. I sliced into it and it had a layer of flavourful ground pork with woodear between sticky rice. I loved the two quail eggs in it. So yummy! The baos were cute and amazing. There was a lot of mango and taro filling in them. They were slightly sweet. Delicious! I want to go back and get a banh mi.
