When you come to a foreign land, when do you truly feel integrated? That connection with this land, the sense of familiarity and security just like your hometown. How long does it take to build that feeling? I think it depends on when you truly own a house of your own and when you blend into the community. I came to Canada when I was in high school, and it's been almost 20 years now. I deeply understand how wonderful it is to be integrated into a community. I just moved to a new community over a year ago. I absolutely love the north side. Driving out toward the highway, you can see wide open fields and horse farms with running horses. This is the life I've always dreamed of. In this peaceful neighbourhood, everyone knows my little dog. Every day people greet him and kindly give him dog treats. My son also grows up in this community, watching other little kids be born and grow up. I know this place, I love this place. I know every street. I know which time to turn left for less traffic, and which other route to take. But not everyone can easily blend into this country and settle into a community. Today I want to share a special place. If you want to connect with local people, like meeting an old friend, go to Lysa and Mom Ly's shop. Have a bowl of hot, authentic, freshly made full-flavoured pho. If you love Vietnamese sandwiches, their sandwich made with halo chicken liver is absolutely amazing. You can feel all their dedication in the ingredients, and all their passion and kindness in the way they talk to people. Walking into this shop is not just entering a small restaurant. This is a place with 850 genuine 5-star reviews. Next time I come back, it won't only be for the delicious food or the great iced coffee. It will be because I know the owners, and I've heard Mom Ly's life story and her journey of hard work and growth. Normally, most restaurants just ask how the food is and beg you to leave a good review. But very few places can truly connect with you. They open up and share their own story first, then slowly build connection and resonance with customers. Mom Ly focuses on three main things: the quality of the food, the cleanliness of the shop, and customer service. Every guest who walks in feels welcomed right at home. This kind of vibe is hard to find in many restaurants these days. Most people are just working a job. Plus, in this younger generation, people are becoming more solo. They put on headphones and stay in their own world, rarely taking time to sit down and network with others. Living in this fast-paced world, whenever you have free time from work, come by the shop and chat with them for a while. You can feel the genuine warmth of this mother and daughter. It's something you rarely find and experience in Toronto anymore. I sincerely recommend everyone to come here. If you are looking for warmth, inspiration, or simply incredibly delicious pho and Vietnamese sandwiches, go meet Mom Ly and our lovely beautiful Lysa. I believe this will easily become one of your favourite local hidden gem restaurants.

I'd like to start and say that I'm not a big fan of Viet food, but my visit to LD completely changed my mindset! The Trio of servers and cooks put a lot of passion in their cuisine and you can definitely taste it. This simple takeout joint has a few seats to enjoy your meal, but the friendly crew's conversation really makes you feel like family. Where this place really shines is their Banh Mi! I had the pho and pork belly types; the meat, veggies, and crispy bun is just a carnival of flavors. The dipping gravy, similar to a concentrated pho broth, gives you that French Dip type of meal with a delicious Vietnamese flavor that I'm still craving. I can't wait to come back!

AMAZING Banh Mi!! A close friend of mine recommended for me to try this restaurant & it did not disappoint. I got the chicken lemon grass banh mi & beef lemon grass banh mi. The quality of the meats, toppings & bread are all super fresh & tastes fantastic! You also MUST try the iced coffee, wow is all I can say! The owner & family are the nicest people I have ever met, they made me feel like family & welcomed me with open arms. The attention to detail & service is the best I've ever seen. The prices are extremely fair for the quality & size of the portions you get. This is 100 % by far the best I've ever tried & I will definitely be telling my friends & family to try this new restaurant. I cannot wait to come again!

Tips: - This place takes debit and cash only…read more - The hot tea is scorching hot. A couple of Wednesdays ago, after work, I had an early dinner at this Pho Anh Vu on Highway 7 in Vaughan, between Keele and Jane streets. I have passed by this eatery a number of times since it opened. It was time to check it out. This location used to be Veg Italiano. There used to be a pho place a few doors down. It is now a Turkish eatery. This small plaza does have some turnover. However, the Turkish place and this eatery have been here for at least a couple of years. I hope they remain. I got here at around 3:30 pm. I had no problem finding a parking spot. I backed into a vacant one and walked in. I was immediately greeted by a male staffer. I got to sit wherever I wanted. I chose a booth by the window. I got menus to peruse. There were two other tables with customers. It was nice. Hot tea came to me with two cups. The hot tea was exceptionally piping hot. I used both cups to pour tea into them and let them cool. I was ready to order. It took a long time to get a server to come over. The woman at the counter noticed that I was ready and flagged the male server to take my order. I got these items: - Soda lemonade - Grilled chicken on vermicelli with spring rolls My soda lemonade came first. It was fizzy, cold, and refreshing. I loved it so much. I would get it again in a heartbeat. It also helped me down my food as I waited for my hot tea to cool down. When my tea was finally at a temperature that wouldn't scorch my tongue, it was fragrant and yummy. I loved the grilled chicken. It was flavourful and grilled to perfection. The vermicelli was generous and yummy. The spring rolls were stuffed and crispy. This dish came with dipping sauce that I ended up pouring on everything. I feel that I needed more of it. I paid at the counter with a debit card. I tapped and was good. This eatery got busy after 4 pm. My guess is that everyone came to watch the Canada-Switzerland FIFA game. It got tense in the place. Eventually, Canada lost this game. I used the washroom before I left. It was beautiful and clean. It's a decent location that serves good food. The tea was too hot. Service started off slow, but was a lot better once my order was place. I'd love to return to try more items off the menu. (280)

I will say that the server was so kind and when she heard we were watching our salt intake, she offered to make our broth less salty. They were still tasty but less salty. We were so pleased! The beef pho has a good portion of meat and there was lots of seafood in the tom yum soup. The large spring rolls had many rolls! Fresh and delicious! I'd come again for sure as not many places have a good tom yum soup

We walked in and were greeted by a friendly few staff members who showed us to our table. The decor inside was modern, it was clean and the ambiance was great. As soon as we sat down we were brought hot drinks of our choice to warm us up. It took a while before we settled on our meal choices after much discussion. We have some vegetarians and some non-vegetarians in our family so it was nice to see that vegetarians could be accommodated here. All of the meals turned out to be very tasty from our appetizers to our mains. Spring Rolls** were crispy, tasty and served with a sweet-spicy sauce. These were the outstanding showstoppers of the entire meal or at least a few of us agreed that they were our favourite choice. Vegetarian Cold Rolls (small) were crunchy, refreshing and served with a peanut sauce with roasted peanuts on top. I was told that my homemade version of vegetarian cold rolls was even better than the restaurant version since I include more tofu but this restaurant version came in a close second place. Stir-fried Vegetables with Tofu and Steamed Rice was very super flavourful, as was the veggie soup broth. The main vegetarian dish had a bit of kick to it, lots of black pepper, and a tangy spicy taste which was almost too spicy for one family member's simple palate. Nothing a bowl full of rice couldn't fix. What would make it a 5 star rating would be if they had included a bit more tofu, otherwise it was a very good dish. Grilled Pork Chop with Rice was wonderfully delicious. The veggies made the dish eye catching. The flavour packed broth was delightful. It was served with a drizzle of oil of green onions which when combined with freshly steamed rice make the perfect trifecta. Stir-Fry Rice Noodles with Seafood (which had squid, fish balls, shrimp and possibly scallops) was very well received by one hungry man. He didn't mind that the vegetarians had more veggies on their plates than him. Stir-Fry Rice Noodles* with Vegetables had a great colourful presentation and tasted very good, according to another. Once again their only other comment about the dish was that they wished there was more tofu in it. What would make it a 5 star rating would be if they had included a bit more tofu, otherwise it was also a good dish. The staff were more than accommodating to the requests of grandparents who needed to relocate tables to stay warm during this cold winter season. My family very much appreciated our visit to this restaurant. Fantastic hospitality. Great service and friendly personable staff.

But even during prime time dinner, we'll always be able to get seats. The best bang for the buck has to be their ribs pho! For $22~, it can easily feed two! We felt bad to just order a dish to share between us two so we ordered another dishe and take out the rest. However, we did notice a nearby table did exactly that and I guess the staff didn't mind at all. If you scroll and look at my recent photos of the rib pho dish, they've chopped the rib up into smaller pieces so it's easier to eat and they also provide scissors so you can cut through the meat and take out. We couldn't finish it so we packed it home and air fry the ribs for more texture. We especially like the clear vermicelli from their egg and clear noodle section. The broth is more elevated from the standard pho, with more herbs. Definitely recommend #216 we ordered with chicken clear noodles (scroll right to see the most recent video).
