First time trying this place and I was not disappointed. Right off the bat I was greeted and sat. The gentleman that was taking care of us was very attentive and friendly. Food came out very fast and was very delicious. I got the medium taco pizza with fajita, which is an interesting combination but it did not disappoint! That was enough for 2 people and we even had some left over. Would recommend!

Took my pops for his birthday dinner and the pizza and the wings hit the wings had a good balance not to hot not to mild, and Hilda was so kind she had great energy and treat us like family not a customer

I ordered seven large pieces to go and you see my expectations. You have got to try the veggie supreme the best.

This…read morearea has become of gem of a location in DFW for dining, and Monaco brings a truly elevated and upscale experience to the area. This is my updated review. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Monaco is one of the prettiest restaurants in all of DFW. Dark wood and dark blue seating invite you in. The bar is stunning, with back lighting highlighting their drinks. There's also an outdoor seating area, including a wind shield - perfect when the weather is nice. This is a great spot for a weekend date night if you want something outside of Dallas. 1 Star. Service - Everyone was very nice. We were never rushed, all dishes could be customized to order, and I never had to ask for a refill. Nothing but good people here. 1 Star. Food - Let me start by saying presentation matters, and the dishes at Monaco are great for your Instagram or Yelp feed. I started with the roasted oysters. I chose it because the description said the oysters are "topped with bone marrow butter". That, combined with the roasted breadcrumbs, added a nice crunchy and smooth texture to the delicious oysters. For my main, I went with the Salmon St. Harve. This beautiful dish had a perfectly prepared salmon. Soft and flaky, but with a crunch from the skin at the bottom. It was served on top of grilled asparagus and topped with a cream sauce that brought everything together. Delicious. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. It's not a secret that I love Water Street. This is an awesome area in the heart of DFW, and I'm so happy there is an upscale restaurant like Monaco that has amazing food. 1 Star.

The vinaigrette leaned very citrusy, which overpowered the dish a bit, but I couldn't help thinking that adding some goat cheese would balance it beautifully and elevate the whole plate. Then came the pasta bolognese... and that's where things went downhill fast. The ricotta was completely flavorless, the meat was tough, and overall the dish lacked seasoning. It was honestly one of the most disappointing bolognese dishes I've had. One more thing that really stood out: the interior has carpet flooring. In a food establishment, that feels deeply unhygienic and off-putting. 1/5 stars -- a strong start with the appetizer, but the main course and overall experience completely missed the mark.

We started with the focaccia bread (5/5). Wow--this might be some of the best bread I've ever had. Perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and the dip was delicious. I usually try not to fill up on bread before the entrées arrive, but we made sure to finish every bite. We also ordered the burrata salad (5/5), which was a very generous portion and absolutely delicious. I would definitely order it again. For our entrées, my friend and I shared the chicken piccata and the bolognese. The chicken piccata was a 5/5 for me, while the bolognese was a 4.5/5. Both dishes were excellent and I'd happily order either again. This visit was a completely different experience from my first one, and I'm glad I came back. I'd love to return with my husband sometime.

I've never had anything that wasn't perfectly prepared, flavorful, and served the correct temperature. And that's what really matters in a restaurant, of course. But the vibe is odd. I can't put my finger on it. It's "clique-y". Every time I come, I walk into an empty restaurant with no host. And it seems I've walked in before they opened. They have lots of private events which are walled off with weird partitions. And they sometimes (according to others I overheard) completely close down for private parties. I don't ask for much. I require very little attention. I grossly over tip. And, yet still I feel very unwelcome in this restaurant that I have frequented several times. I don't get it. The other customers were very nice to me, but the staff seemed annoyed by my presence. It's bizarre. Anyway, the food alone earns them a top rating. Pro tip: Do NOT sit at the bar. They don't tell you this: but it's for the regulars. You'll feel like you've wandered into a party you weren't invited to. AND.....order the Prince Edward Island mussels!

The owner of the restaurant took our order and offered good suggestions. He raved about their Tiramisu and we wanted to try if for dessert. The starters we tried were well seasoned and flavorful. The pasta bowls come with breadsticks and is perfect for one. The bowls are not shareable but the flavors were excellent. Do try the tiramisu for dessert. It is highly recommended. Plenty of parking available in the strip mall. The restaurant offers beer, wines and cocktails with a full bar service. Pricing: Not an inexpensive restaurant but it's worth the money you pay. Will I return? : For sure!

Not so much as an acknowledgment from the wait staff of the awkwardness of the situation, and certainly not a substitute. I might have been more charitable if my entree was good, but the haphazard combination of two eggplant Parmesan appetizers into a main was mediocre at best. There is not even an official vegetarian entree on the menu, and the staff seemed genuinely flummoxed by the request. I'm giving 2 stars because, perhaps sensing my displeasure, they made sure to clarify that the peculiar, deconstructed caesar salad had been modified for my needs.

I could see the team having a pre-service huddle which the hostess broke away from to politely state that they'll be opening shortly and completely understood/appreciated it. Needless to say, more and more early birds showed up and eventually the seating began but that was a painfully slow process as it seemed minutes went by before the hostess returned to seat another party. Finally, she returned and said 'oh - I didn't know anyone was still waiting as she - another co-worker that was lighting candles - didn't tell her. Hmmm! Should the hostess be at the hostess station to greet guests as much/often as possible at all times? The hostess is pleasant and seats us at a nice table. A large party of six gets seated nearby soon after us and although our waiter, Gerardo, took our drink order it felt like they became his focus from that moment on. A young gentleman came around asking if we'd like oil and balsamic without out saying it was for the bread that would be served. I had to ask him if we're getting bread to which he replied yes. We sat with our drinks waiting a long time for the bread which I had to mention to the waiter - AND FINALLY it arrived. It was delicious bread as we're the meatballs - which were unfortunately luke warm. (I wanted to tell them but I try not to be 'that guy' so we ate them before the cooled down any more.) Our caesar salads arrived soon after and I can say they were not remarkable - just another caesar salad that will quickly fade in my memory as 'okay'. I'm not a foodie by any means but do enjoy good food when I can and truly believe that the service can make or break even the best meal - and I have heard so much about John Tesar so I was definitely expecting more that just 'okay'. My filet and my friend's skirt steak finally arrived after a prolonged wait - one of the servers again came to the table with fish plates that weren't ours. (Earlier he also brought 2 burrata plates prior to our salads which makes me think our waiter messed up as we had to wait a while after that to get the 2 Caesars in front of us.) The steaks, peppercorn sauce, asparagus and pureed potatoes were delicious. I like my steak well done and it was cooked perfectly and yet so easy to chew. So the main course was a success but it's hard to overlook the service - especially when we could see/hear a female waiter taking care of an older couple nearby with great care and enthusiastic attention. A party of 4 got seated before we left and again she was quite good relative to our experience. I'm not trying to say it was our waiter (and hostess) as I believe a restaurant is only as good as everyone - from the hostess, bus boy, wait staff, bartender, chef, etc. I had high expectations as I stated earlier since this was a John Tesar restaurant but I know that the one at the Beeman near SMU in Dallas closed and heard from acquaintances that the food and service had been going downhill there. Take this all for what it's worth but if you have a reputation/brand you need to constantly deliver on it. And if you're inside a Ritz-Carlton property - you better be the frickin' best around!
