Walking distance from the hotel we were staying at in Rome. I really didn't want to eat at a place where someone was flagging you down outside trying to get you to dine in. It's not hard to find somewhere to stop and have a drink during your wanderings around Rome, so stumbling upon Di Qua one evening didn't feel like a spectacular find. The outside seating area was attractive and we were warmly welcomed by front of house. Prosecco and beer in hand, we spent a happy hour or so in the early evening warmth - definitely how the locals began to realise we were British as they were all heading inside! We had some nibbles whilst drinking, including some delicious polenta cakes and tomato topped bread, which were refreshed every time we ordered a drink. Judging by the reviews, this would also have been a good choice for dinner, but we went to Toto down the street. A lovely first night. read more

Dont waste your time with this restaurant. The waitresses are assholes. We were a group of five and she attempted to set us down on theater like folding chairs and the two chairs did not fit under the table so we asked to me moved to the window table that had a more open sitting area and she said no its reserved and put us in the back table instead. We were fine with that since we were all hungry. We sat there for ten minutes and nothing, not even a smile. Then another group walked in and was sat down on the window table and the same waitress served them water right away and took drink orders. At that point we all got up and left. Ate here on our third night in Rome. Up until this meal I was not impressed with food in Rome. Perhaps we were choosing all of the wrong places. Di Quo changed my mind about Rome food. I had the gnocchi and it was delicious! My boyfriend had the fettuccine special and he loved it also. This was by far our best meal in Rome and not the most expensive one we had either. They have a good selection of wine by the glass and cocktails. The restaurant is small so we had to sit outside. It's November and I was cold before we got to the restaurant but I felt so warm with the heaters they had outside and they had a blanket in each chair outside. We sat there for a couple hours enjoying our meal and drinks. It's on a quiet side street away from the busy crowds on Corso and Spanish Steps. read more

Where to begin with this review other than to say I was truly impressed! Small group of family members were out looking for a place to eat and luckily decided to give Di Qua a try. And boy, I'm glad we did. The indoor space is small, maybe seats 15 total. We had the largest table which sat 5 comfortably. The decor is updated old school with white and green subway tiles, a large chalk board with specials and great black and white photos. In reviewing the menu they have standard Italian favorites with a full tea menu along with fish and chips. So there is definitely a British connection somehow. After reviewing and asking questions about the specials, we ordered. Here is a rundown on what we ate/tasted. Bruschetta - excellent The chicory topped one was exceptionally tasty Carbonara - Best of the entire trip and lets say I sampled quite a few Meatball special - Not really sure of all the ingredients, but I think they are referred at times as Neapolitan meatballs. The had raisins and pine nuts in them and served with a couscous salad and a spicy aioli. OUTSTANDING! Gnocchi with Shrimp - This was on of the specials and was very unique. The Gnocchi was actually made from polenta and was accompanied with a red sauce. It was just amazing. If that's on the menu, grab it! We also had two veg side dishes, the green beans and the chicory. Both were excellent Desserts were next on the list. We had three different ones. A chocolate lava cake, tiramisu and a lime and chocolate mousse. The mousse I still dream about. If that's on the menu get it. Overall it was an excellent experience and the food was top notch. All this, with a bottle of wine and 4 limoncellos resulted in a 37 euro per person bill. The service here is TERRIBLE! Beware, the hostess was rude, unapologetic and condescending. We sat down and they ignored our table as we are foreigner. When locals sat down they were more accommodating and nice. If you want to be verbally abused and ignored this is your spot! read more

The latte I had at Di Qua was exactly what I needed after a morning trip to the Colosseum. It was creamy, smooth and with a lovely foamy, milky top; everything I'd hoped for from my first latte in the city. The decor is kitsch and classic, with a distressed, vintage feel. Upon arriving we took a seat outside to enjoy the afternoon heat. Although staff acknowledged us, it was quite a wait for a menu. The same happened again when we were ready to order; so much so that we almost left to go elsewhere. We waited simply because we were enjoying sitting and the thought of coffee was an exciting one. - As I said, the latte was delicious! We then had a substantial wait for the bill as waiting staff weren't easy to get a hold of. We certainly felt a little disregarded, which made the experience somewhat disappointing. One of my favorite meals in Rome was here. The best lasagna Bolognese I've ever had! Just melted in your mouth but you have to be lucky to try it as it was only their daily special that day. We went back the next day for the same lasagna because we couldn't stop thinking about it and the daily special had changed. Great coffee and one of the best tiramisus too! Tourist Trap: Cheap wines, cheap ingredients, bad service. Do not waste your money rather go to Mc Donalds in the Vatican... Great little place. Been there 3 times, once for drinks late afternoon (when we did not get the free snack that others mention but still a very pleasant al fresco later afternoon drink). Second time we went for drinks, one of which was a pricey but super refreshing artisanal beer (Lana) - the waiters recommendation - and we did get some nice free snacks. Went back that evening for dinner and shared a superb cerviche (salmon, sea bass and papaya) and then risotto with lime, shrimp and coconut milk. The risotto had some additional spices... maybe turmeric, coriander, a bit of cumin, which gave it a "curry" background but was really quite delicious. We experimented with wine by the glass to try a couple of different ones and got great recommendations from our waiter (again). Attentive friendly staff (good english language skills) and free wifi all add to the overall experience. read more

Can't believe this place averages 4 stars. First, this is not a kid friendly place. Many smokers smoke outside the restaurant. And there is no option for kids on the menu. Besides the baby store right across, there is nothing friendly to kids. Second, we order chef special, grill lamb. The lamb came as dry as hell, there were tons to f fat and almost no meats on the bone. Lastly, the provide poor service. Besides maybe the bartender, everyone was having a bad day or something. Authentic and very good food. Unique selection, and more common dishes, but prepared in a very special way. Aubergine with cheese was crispy on the outside and melted in a mouth, juicy and tender. Gnocchi were served wit the porcini sauce and were great. Pasta was delicious and wine was very good as well. Tiramisu is to die for!!! read more

We had drinks here two nights in a row, planning on going back for a third. Why? Free food that comes with the drinks that are the same price as every other bar in the city. The food is like mixed appetizers (fried puffs, bruschetta) come out when you order just drinks. Great place! read more
