My wife and I wanted to highly recommend and thank Greg Eckstein of Diablo Valley Carpet Care. My wife was having what she suspected to be allergies when we moved into a rental home with carpeting that was recently cleaned by another carpet cleaning company. There were some indications that the house had been home to dogs who shed a lot. My wife's symptoms included headaches and ringing in her ears. The symptoms were so bad that we were sleeping on the floor in a room without carpet and we were fearing we might have to move. Greg was helpful from the first call to him. He got us on his schedule quickly and he listened carefully to the problem. He ended up making some suggestions that included adding vinegar as a disinfectant and running the cleaning at much higher temperature than normal which I hadn't heard in the past from carpet cleaning companies. We have off-white carpets throughout the house, for which we have used Diablo Valley Carpet Care for nearly 20 years. Through three large and active Golden Retrievers, teenagers, dog-chewed red pens, dripped printer ink, red wine spills and every other hazard of an active house, the carpets are still virtually spotless. The process DVCC uses to accomplish this wonder is environmentally pure and uses no toxins whatsoever. Greg, the owner, is everything you would like a local businessman to be. He takes pride in his work, and he is friendly, communicative and fairly-priced. We are actually pleased for him that we now have to schedule routine cleanings somewhat further in advance than used to be true, because it means his very hard work has attracted a deserved loyal following. Greg showed up on time, was clear in what he was going to do, prices off a very clear laminated pricing sheet that is based on number of rooms/steps and matches what he quoted on the phone(no teaser rate then hey use this chemical for an extra $200) and was efficient. It took him about two hours to do a large family room, hallway, master bedroom and two sets of stairs. Everything dried with 4-6 hours, which given it was 40 degrees outside and not a lot of sunlight, was a good outcome. We had a huge coffee stain on the carpet - a full mug of coffee dropped directly on the white carpet. I would say it is probably 80% gone after the cleaning, but not fully removed. I wouldn't say we expected that it would be gone, but were of course hopeful. The real problem is the rest of the white carpet is so clean now you can see there's a spot there :) I would definitely use Greg again and would recommend to others - good value and a good experience. read more

To be fair the issue was with the carpet and its age but even with such a difficult project that did make the carpet look good. I have a 5 bedroom home in Moraga with white carpets, two active kids, a cat and a dog and have used Gregg's services for the past three years with great satisfaction. We've presented some unique challenges: melted candle wax, fireplace soot, sticky spills etc. He has very high-powered equipment that he keeps upgrading for some amazing "saves." Every time I think it's time to rip up the floor and start over he gives us a new lease on the carpets. There's no way any store-bought steam cleaner can do the job as effectively as he can. I also appreciate that he doesn't need to use a lot of toxic petrochemicals and there is no nasty residual smell. He has been very reliable in terms of promptness and making sure the floors dry out as quickly as possible, in case you are planning to entertain guests soon. Wow! I have had our rug for three years and was sad to see how my dogs wear and tear had trashed it's color and pile. I have done cleaning myself, but after a few days it returns to a dingy gray. Greg from Diablo Valley talked to me about his service which sounded pet friendly and knowledgeable about my issues. It's been just over a year since my last review and Gregg has once again provided service that merits a 5-star review. I had a clogged sewer line that caused the washing machine to drain a significant amount of water onto my hallway carpet. Gregg was solidly booked for the coming week, but told me this needed immediate attention to prevent mold and referred me to a former employee who is now a competitor. The man he referred me to came the next morning and did an excellent job with the initial clean-up, removed the pad, left fans to dry the carpet, and returned 3 days later to replace the pad and relay the carpet. Gregg called twice during this time to check on the progress of the work. Gregg's attention to ensure an excellent outcome for me, even when he didn't get the job this time, is commendable. I had my carpets and sofa cleaned by Diablo Valley Carpet Care this morning and Greg Eckstein (owner) and his assistant Martin did a fabulous job. The best part is that he only uses an eco-friendly product called Procyon. The product contains no soap, has no sticky residues, is completely odorless, is all natural and non-toxic, and hypoallergenic. And he gave me a bottle of the product for touch-ups between cleanings. Greg and Martin spent almost 2 hours doing a thorough cleaning of my sectional sofa and carpet and his prices were extremely reasonable...far less than I thought since my sofa is so large and took the majority of time to clean. They even cleaned the back of the sofa. My 3 year old sofa looks brand-spanking new from the showroom :-) I will definitely be using Diablo Valley Carpet Care again for future cleanings. 5 stars and highly recommended. read more
