She communicated & explained everything. The Kapua Lounge & Lanai is beautiful & upscale. We walked in to the room set up with impressive table settings & printed menus. Yukio who was in charge of the event was very patient, kind and went out of his way to make sure that everything was perfect. The special Japanese Cuisine Menu was so delicious. The Birthday Cake was the best that everyone ever had. They even gave us cookies which were so good, too. The decor made you feel like you were in an Elvis movie, with interesting era-appropriate art and furniture. They have a coffee shop by the check-in desk, great to go order your morning latte. The restaurant is also in the lobby. The bartender is impeccable and original. The pool is on the smaller side, but not highly used so it never felt crowded. It also had ample seating. It's location is nice, you are just off the very busy main Waikiki commercial area, but close to shops, dining and the beach. Cons: Don't ever let them stick you in room 241. (My husband made the reservation, so I have to admit he might not have read the fine print.) I thought I was in hell. It would have been more relaxing to sleep on a park bench. It smelled horribly musty. The floor was curling up on the edges from an obvious moisture issue. The floor was so dirty that it stained your clothes, I'm not sure if it had ever been mopped. Then there was the brain-shattering noise. The first night I thought it was from the parking garage (which was our only cement view with bird crap) and cars revving. By the next evening, I realized that we were directly over the restaurant, and next to the elevator and air conditioning system and near an ice machine. Every few minutes a huge rattling swoosh would occur ALL NIGHT AND DAY. It was so bad I cried. Floor two also happens to be the dog friendly floor. I don't own a dog. All I heard was dogs being taken in and out to poop at all hours. Ugh. We had made reservations well in advance, and had requested to be near the rest of our family in another room. We ended up on another floor well away from them, which was disappointing. Parking is horrible and not in the same building. The garage can't handle anything larger than a sedan, so we ended up paying for a private lot for the week. I didn't hate the place and would consider staying there again for the price, but only if I was sure to get a better room.

It is very comfortable clean Hawaiiana Style ( IYKYK) (for that reviewer that said dirty-smelled obviously doesn't stay in Hawaii or has never stayed on the islands very often) , anyways-its perfect for two or three people. She stocks everything for the stay from TP to drinks to goodies, breads, sweets,fruit , left in the microwave, on dishes, including anything and everything you would need to have a wonderful stay. No not 5 course meals!! But your in a suite hello?? thank you Janice for a beautiful place to stay, your generous hospitality, and your such a sweet soul . My wife called several times with questions, and Steven answered the phone. All the staff we interacted with were nice. I was celebrating my birthday, and I was given a nice surprise. We used the 15% off discount for Favorite Restaurant across the hotel. The food was okay. It was nicely decorated inside. If you check out their Yelp page, it looks like they changed their food. There is a daily amenity fee of $37. Things we used: * Fruit-infused water and chilled water in the lobby * Manager's wine and cheese afternoon reception on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays - We really enjoyed this. However, the hotel refused to change his room. Instead offering to spray Raid in their room while they were out during the day. The rooms themselves admittedly are pretty spacious, and it was nice that it came stocked with a microwave and drawers full of dinnerware and utensils. The room decor is definitely dated, but aside from the cockroach incident, appeared to be pretty clean. There is a daily resort fee of $37 ($43ish after tax) + $50/day parking. The hotel is located near the end of the strip, so a bit of walking is needed to reach the main touristy area.

They have complimentary beach gear in a room for guests to bring which was very convenient, from chairs, mats, beach umbrellas, sand toys towels and beach bags. The rooms here are very small but that wasn't really a big deal as it was only 2 of us. When we got to our room there was a cute towel arrangement and chocolates and a note from the hotel which was a nice touch. We stayed 6 nights and had an ok time until our 5th night when were got to our room and found not 1, not 2 but 3 roaches alive in our bed. That's where the downfall really began. I would've given more stars if that didn't happen. Let's just say we really inspected the bed and did not sleep well. The staff was nice and I would've given more stars, but roaches in my bed. I was able to freeze my ice packs in the mini-fridge, and there was plenty of space to store everything and it not be in the way. My only issues were that there were no chairs on my balcony, so it wasn't really useable other than to dry clothes, and rooms by the elevator are subject to loud guests going back and forth from the elevators at all hours of the night. We chose to stay there again earlier this month (just before the hurricane hit). They advertise a room with a king bed and the room sleeps 3. I (although I should know better) assumed that there would be a couch or one of those fancy chairs they have in the hospitals that extend out into a single bed or we would get a rollaway. We get to our room. No couch. No reclining chair. So I call for a rollaway. FORTY FIVE DOLLARS A NIGHT (x 7 nights). How is it they (PSH) assumes that 3 people will share ONE bed? I feel if they advertise that it sleeps 3, there should be NO charge for the rollaway especially if there is no couch or reclining chair. The staff is wonderful. The location is wonderful. But my poor kid had to sleep on the floor for a week. It was disappointing for sure!
