They have a smaller facility so during the lunch or dinner rush it can get pretty packed. This was my first time having Thai food. My husband got the BBQ beef, he loved it. I got the Fried Rice, and I loved it. The atmosphere is fantastic and the waiter was amazing. I was very surprised to find this interesting a Thai place in Sioux City. I live in Orange County California so I have a lot of places near my home, especially with our large Southeast Asian immigrant population. The Thai Tumeric Crepe appetizer was amazing. Loved the fresh slaw on the side. The traditional pad Thai was really good and a large portion for lunch. The Thai coconut soup was also very good. This is easily my favorite restaurant in Sioux City. The food is great. The owner, Peter, is always upbeat and welcoming. I love all the curry dishes. You can choose the spice level from one to three (or zero if you are my girlfriend). I've been a vegetarian for seven years and this restaurant is very vegetarian-friendly. Probably the best for accommodating vegetarians in town. Nevertheless everyone I've ever gone with has loved it. Please support this great local business. Spring Rolls for appetizers. A must! Very fresh and flavorful. The Green Chicken Curry as my main course was excellent. Fresh green beans, boo shoots, green peppers, and basil. My husband had Pad Prick Prow. Calamari, scallops and shrimp with fresh vegetables in a medium spice red sauce. I would highly recommend this restaurant. This is one of those hole in the wall places. Don't let the outside or even the aged inside fool you though. Absolutely awesome Thai food! The pancakes and the spring rolls are my favorite! I know there are probably better things on the menu but I gravitate towards the soups and the pad Thai. During the summer there is a desert that is a mango and sweet coconut rice, I have gone there just for that. Very helpful and polite, it is a family place so expect that. Curry was indeed watery, as mentioned in other reviews. Peanut sauce was also watery and bland. Wide noodles were okay. Not very spicy.

Not very good Thai food. Jasmine rice was soggy. Red Curry tasted like water. I wish I would have saved my appetite for somewhere else.

Consistent and fresh food. Favorite is the ba mee phat. It's to die for! Thai iced tea is light and fresh. Not too sweet. Five stars!

Although I respect family run restaurants highly, this family is not prepared to handle more than a perhaps 20 visitors per hour. We expected a faster service during lunch. Freshly made, but the wait was much longer than what someone can afford during the workday. We ended up taking it carryout after one hour of wait. Food was adequate, but had no spice whatsoever. Incredible Thai food. The owner and his wife are very nice people who will make sure you enjoy your meal. I like the Pad Thai but all of their entrees are good. I was really hoping to have a nice meal but there were many things that made me very uncomfortable. First off, all of the dishes were very cloudy and dirty. The place was old, dark and not well lit. The waitress was nice, but sat at a table and picked her teeth the entire meal. When we received our food, the meals were very small and most of the food was very salty. I'm also convinced that I was intentionally overcharged, and because of this I will not be back to Diamond Thai. read more

Their golden bags (Cream cheese puffs with crab, onion and garlic) are to die for!!! My husband and I ordered the appetizer special which included fresh rolls (tasty), spring rolls (tastier), and the golden bags (tastiest). We ordered a second plate of the bags because we were so enamored. I ordered the pumpkin curry which was a fresh and flavorful delight and my husband ordered the Diamond Thai noodles which were almost a Thai verson of beef stroganoff (I hope that is not offensive) but also delicious and flavorful. Bad experience. Twice. Restaurant has a strong musty smell when you first walk in. Pretty unappetizing. The first time we went here we got a few appetizers and the yellow curry. The chicken satay was good. Curry was bland and very little meat. The second time was a year later and still musty. Husband got lemongrass chicken and I got the traditional pad Thai. Thought I couldn't go wrong with that. The lemongrass chicken was extremely over cooked and barely edible. The pad Thai was bland and didn't taste like the pad Thai that I'm used to. And again very little meat. Service was below satisfactory. They only came to the table to take our order and to bring the food and drinks. Not anytime in between. We have been going there since they opened. Have since moved away from Sioux City, but go there whenever we are in town. The curries are the best you will find anywhere, and the spicy wok noodles are my favorite on days I don't feel like curry. It is in an older part of the city, but who cares. I've been a vegetarian for many years, so I can't believe I had never tried this place before. My husband and I ordered carryout - I played it safe with fried tofu and sautéed vegetarian, and he chose the sweet and savory chicken. The food was prepared really quickly, it was ready by the time we got there to pick it up. Maybe this place was just over-hyped to me, but I wasn't bowled over by the food. The tofu was cooked on the outside, but the inside was still slimy. The peanut dipping sauce was amazing, tho. My vegetables were pretty tasteless and were mostly just woody bamboo. My husband said his chicken was tasteless and dry. We paid over $20 for two entrees and a small appetizer. I would possibly try another dish there, but overall I was pretty disappointed. read more

Just found my new favorite restraunt. Their fresh spring rolls are delicious, and their larb is just about evil it's so good. Even got my own little basket of sticky rice. The food is pretty good as far as quality and quantity goes... Tried the Red Curry, Green Curry and Pad-Thai... Not having a lunch combination with a lunch sized portions would keep me from having lunch there. Also,, paying for white steamed rice seems a bit much when most Asian food must be eaten with rice to be considered a complete dish. Kinda like serving Pad-Thai without noodles in my opinion. read more
