Was in the mood for a chili cheese dog and figured with the high marks, this place would shine. Not sure why he wrapped up everything in a bag to-go, I was dining in. Tried to unfold the mess that was the dog. Onion rings are generic and he tried to charge me a $1 for a cup of water. I paid $7.81 for a very disappointing meal. Decent food for super, super cheap. I got a cheeseburger and fries with a horchata. Because I could. It set me back $6.72, which is nothing short of amazing if you keep track of beef prices like I do. The burger was pretty good. It's hard for me to describe a run-of-the-mill, hole-in-the-wall burger without using more hyphens, so I'll just say that it was a good burger. Fresh lettuce and nice, melty cheese. The fries tasted slightly off. I can't tell you how, because my wife didn't think they tasted off, but to me I thought maybe some of the flavors from other fried foods leaked into the oil. The horchata was very, very good, cold, cinnamon-y and exactly what I was looking for. Overall though, it's pretty difficult to beat Diana's - which, by the way, appears to be run by a Hispanic dude, and I wasn't sure if red hots were actually on the menu - at this price point. This is just a small fast food spot, but their food is good. I've been here a lot of times already. The place is such a good spot for something really quick and good food. It is a small spot, but it is clean, and the people inside are so nice and very friendly. They have a wide selection of options on their menu, and I think I have already tried most of them, including their hot dogs, burgers, and gyros. They have great customer service and good food, which is why I cannot stop coming back. The food is always fresh and hot when it is served. Even though it is a small spot, they still have tables inside, but I prefer takeout, and even if I prefer takeout, the food is still good and hot when I eat it. There is nothing literally special about their food other than the fact that it is good, fresh, well-seasoned, served with an adequate and perfect portion, and, of course, it is reasonably priced. First of all this 5 stars for personality and of quality in simplicity. This place is a dive in and out joint, its small not too cozy but packs a punch in food and flavor. Their gyros are awesome, it is a very generous portion of meat, tomato, onion and "gyro sauce" as they like to refer to it, and if you order the plate (comes with fries and a drink) you'll definitely be walking away full (make sure to grab some Louisiana hot sauce for them fries mm mm). Their hot dogs and cheese steak sandwiches I would recommend next, the hot dogs are classic nothing extraordinary but their sandwiches are, I definitely recommend a try. Finally, their menudo on Saturday and Sunday is extremely tasty. Although sometimes they sell out quickly due to phone in orders, I got their today at 10:09 am (they open at 10 am) and they were already sold out, yeah its that good. Anyways, the location and setting can be a little off putting but the food and service is excellent I highly recommend this place if you like good food at a decent price. If you're looking for a hot dog joint in the burbs, give this place a shot. It's better than all the others in the Carol Stream area. It's a little hole in the wall, with a small dining area. I've been going here for about 10 years. It's family owned, and the staff is very friendly. They offer just about everything you would expect from a good hot dog joint, and I've never had anything bad off their menu. Their steak sandwich is killer, the burgers are good, they also have really, really good gyros. They also offer tacos, burritos, and that have menudo on the weekends. The prices are great too. This place is old school simple. Minimalist decor, food is outstanding, ingredients tasted fresh and everything was delicious and made to order. I've passed this placed so many times it's not worth thinking about. I grew up spoiled by the best beefs, dogs, pizza in all of Chi- town, and if your thinking Portillo's is the crown jewel then your just not even Chicagoan, mind you Mr.Portillo and Portillo's (When he ran the ship he built) is fantastic, but it's by no means a Johnny' s or Gene and Judes ect..ect.. anyways after trying to stomach that dump Charkies and other wanna be greasy spoons I went into Diana's and right away from the smell, the regulars, the tight cramped space, I knew I hit gold. I ordered the gyros on purpose, a dog everything and then the fries. ALL homeruns. Is this place better than my favorites? Nope, but it's a 9 outta 10 on my scale. Probably would be perfect had I been taken here first as a kid. Once you go here, no more Portillo's or Shitzkies Charkies whatever the hell they call themselves. And lastly, the owner is a real firecracker, gotta be quick, Like a friendly "Soup Nazi" from the Seinfeld episodes. We just tried this place out in December. Fantastic! The food was hot and made fresh. Fries were just right. Between several of us, we ordered hot dogs, Italian beef and a Philly cheese steak. The bun for the Philly was more like French bread and too crunchy for my taste but the filling was good for an IL take on it. No better or worse than most are around here. My husband had been going here for lunch for quite some time, for some reason we only ordered dinner here one time last year 2019, they are so so nice here, the young man that helped me when I was picking up our food was so exceptionally nice, made sure he repeated my order back to me again b4 I paid, I thought he may have said one to many items, I didn't say anything but I think he saw it in my face that I was questioning something, he showed me the bag and read it again and I noticed one extra hot dog, I was just so pleased with how he wanted to be sure everything was right! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone... They food is great, especially their gyros, and their service is awesome... I got there five minutes before they were supposed to close .... They had cleaned everything out because they close at ten.... But he just got everything back out because I came in and ordered gyros... I even told him I could order something else if it would help him... And he said that as long as I walk in the door before they close the door... I get anything I want from their menu....
