Choosing an "off" night (example: a weeknight) or during a less-than-ideal time (example: during a snowstorm) will give you the quickest experience for Johnnie's as the line can get LONG and parking is terrible (tiny lot). Note: this was my second visit as my first attempt, on Father's Day 2025, was a magnificent bust. We had no line and plenty of seating this time! They have a big menu, but save the cute stuff for a follow-up visit and get a beef (& hot dog is really hungry). Do yourself a favor and get an Italian Ice too, time of year is irrelevant. You can thank me after your tastebuds recover from being overwhelmed. Is the food THAT much better than other spots, you ask? Not handedly, no. But the whole experience, especially if you wait in line (in the sun as there is zero shade), is what makes this place great. It really is a delightful Chicago experience. It's a cool farm that carries fresh eggs, meat, greens, dairy and more and everything is locally sourced and chemical free! B we love and appreciate that! We were greeted so nicely from the crew there! We felt like family! We met the owner and a couple of her sweet kiddos and she was so gracious to share her family story with us! It's inspiring! It's a great farm and it was cool to see the animals roam freely. We enjoyed seeing the kale, chickens and dogs. We are looking forward to returning next weekend!

Right at the front of the entrance you first smell the freshly popped corn and you know you are about to buy a bag. Who can resist fresh popcorn? The owner is super friendly and gave us a sample of kettle corn. My friend got the mix that had cheddar and kettle corn. I got a huge bag of salted popcorn which was crunchy, lightly salted and had just the right amount of oil. I would have taken a pic but my mom and I have inhaled more than half the bag already haha. I like how their ingredients for the kettle corn are so simple: corn, corn oil, pure cane sugar and salt. That's it! Their website shows they are at a TON of local farmers markets all summer and fall. Check out their site to find their next event, you must try a bag of their popcorn!
