I used to come here over 20 years ago when I lived in Sandusky. It was our late night go to spot to soak up alcohol and bad decisions. Two weeks ago I got to come here to celebrate some good decisions! My best friend passed away five years ago. Her and I used to come to this spot after we would go to the club and dance under age and drink under age and then come eat giant stacks of wholesome pancakes. Her daughter graduated nursing school two weeks ago, and an honor of her. I came with her daughter, her daughter's three children, her husband, and his new little one. This was a full table! Everyone left full happy and well served, and I spent around 120 bucks. The value is fantastic! The service is amazing, and it feels like a throwback diner. This is a routine stop for us. Breakfast portions are always good, coffee is well made but the Reuben sandwich is one of the best ones i have ever eaten!! No menu needed, Reuben for the win! Now look, if you're from California, or a city steeped in food culture, I want you to notice something about the name - "Dianna's Deli & Restaurant." It doesn't say bistro; cafe; gourmet or steakhouse. Keeping that in mind, to me, it's like walking into any neighborhood deli in New York or Brooklyn . . . emphasis on NEIGHBORHOOD DELI. If you don't want to eat at a local, simple, but friendly-with-good-food joint, then pay attention to where you are going. Dianna's is great - Anitta and Brittany (I think that's right? The wonderful blonde who works as a hostess) are simply the best -- always friendly and cheerful. Full transparency -- I have only ever had breakfast here. The omelets are terrific; especially love the greek; or three cheese. My husband likes the pancakes and french toast; I also really like the turkey sausage. But, I often go alone, on a break from work; I sit and read while I have my eggs, and I love it. To be honest -- it's probably not my style for lunch or dinner, as they do focus on homestyle cooking, and I tend to go in a different direction, unless it's breakfast. I have to say the desserts have always looked amazing! Dianna's has a loyal following, and is always busy, so there's a reason for that. The service was fine, we got waited on pretty quickly, the restaurant seemed pretty clean and while it was a little outdated it wasn't too dirty. We really liked the eggs, waffles, and bacon. The biscuit gravy was pretty basic had an onion-y flavor or some type of seasoning that didn't taste great. The bread was ok, but $3.99 for sour dough bread was a little much considering it wasn't anything special. There were other places I enjoyed eating at more, but it's worth a try. read more

It's been a long time since I've walked in a place and immediately felt welcomed by the workers. This place had owner at the door, greeting guests in a genuinely friendly way. The wait staff was no different. Fast and friendly, I never had to ask for a top off for any of our drinks. The food was great, kids were happy with then chocolate chip pancakes, but raved about the bacon. I may have had the best cup of coffee in my life. I even asked our waitress about it and the owner came over and gave me all the details on what it is and how to make it. This will hands down be our go to when in the area. And you can just tell how much the owner cares, when the staff seem genuinely happy to be there. 10 out of 10. read more

The waitress was very snappy with me so that is the main reason for the two stars. As far as the food, we were staying the night before going to cedar point and couldn't find anything that wasn't a fast food restaurant other than this. They had a senior citizens menu that had decent prices and I got the salmon off of that menu and it was your typical frozen and then reheated salmon. It also came with choice of soup or salad and choice of potato or rice - which the waitress insisted that I get Rice!! My friend got the grilled chicken off the senior citizens menu and he said it was fine and it came with french fries. We both got the chicken noodle soup which came in a Styrofoam bowl and was a little bit greasy. Overall not a place I would come back to but it was acceptable for a non-fast food dinner!! read more

Perfect for when you need a late night, post-Cedar Point. Each time we've gone (just twice so far), the staff has been super friendly and personable, making us feel like regulars. But who am I kidding - it's the desserts I'm writing home about. My table had butterscotch, coconut cream, and buckeye. SO GOOD. Especially the buckeye which is what my stingy son got and only let me have a small taste. Where is Gordan Ramsey when you need him?? My boyfriend and I were up visiting Sandusky to go to Cedar Point. We wanted to stop at a nice restaurant before heading home, so we picked out a local restaurant that was well known in the community. Right off the bat, I knew we were in for a treat, the decor was AWFUL, it looked like it was from the 80's with a coat rack and green plants everywhere it was SO outdated. First off, I went to order sweet tea and they do not even serve it. What type of restaurant does not serve sweet tea? Then, we ordered our food and while waiting for our food we kinda looked at the people around us and they were not impressed with their food either and kept sending it back to the kitchen. The one guest behind me, ordered a steak and sent it back because it was dry. We then received our food and right off the bat the side salad looked premade and was way too small with one measly slice of cucumber. My grilled chicken breast was actually the best part of my meal however I did not order the mashed potatoes I asked for the rice. The kitchen just seemed off and confused because the menu was so big and the waitress did take our order in correctly but it was the kitchen who kept messing up the orders. Also, what was up with the huge long stalks of broccoli? Why weren't they just florets? I also asked for steamed veggies not broccoli because they had both but I didn't want to deal with sending another thing back to the kitchen. Then, my boyfriend ordered the chocolate chip pancakes which he said tasted frozen and were just heated up in the microwave and the one pancake on the bottom looked like SOMEONE TOOK A BITE OUT OF IT!! He also said the bacon was unflavorful and soggy no crispness at all. Overall, I do NOT recommend this place it is outdated and the food is not that edible at all. Was in town visiting Cedar Point and came here once for dinner and once for breakfast. Good food and very inexpensive! For dinner I had the "chicken whoopee" chicken salad triple-decker sandwich and my wife had the club sandwich. Both were great and served with pasta salad. The chicken salad was especially good! Flavorful and not at all pasty. For breakfast the next morning I had the country scramble. Real deal hand-cut red potatoes, peppers, onions, over-easy eggs, and cheese. So good. The real fresh potatoes make a huge difference over prepackaged frozen home fries or hash browns. My wife got a standard two-egg breakfast which was really very good as well. read more

We just got back from Dianna's deli a little over an hour ago. I had to leave a review because of how amazing the staff was, I don't leave reviews often. So seeing the reviews now of how the service went for different people makes me think there's either a language barrier or that service must vary greatly. Me my partner and sister decided to try something local but close, and came in after a long day with the kids while staying at great Wolf lodge. We have four boys total, 11, 10, 8, and just turned 2. All 3 of the older boys are twice exceptional kids, neurodivergent, overtired, underfed from the long long day of activities. Running on pure adrenaline. Basically feral. The adults obviously exhausted and patience drained, sore, trying our best to keep the kids in line but not make a scene. Our service was wonderful. The first thing I noticed was that despite looking a bit dated from the outside and in, the high chair was exceptionally clean. I dread doing sit downs with the toddler usually because of sticky chairs and straps but these straps felt almost like they had actually been in a washing machine they were so clean. Our server was so polite and helpful, she was super kind to us and our children. My toddler who doesn't like strangers, doesn't even like his grandma screamed for her when she walked back to the kitchen. There was a bit of an issue with a pickle touching bread on my nephews cheeseburger, and so he won't eat the burger. I explained to the server that he didn't want the cheeseburger and asked for a grilled cheese. It came out with a pickle touching the sandwich and we just cut that part off but he ate it. Thank god bc he is soooo picky I was just happy he'd actually *try* a restaurant grilled cheese. Anyways, we tried our best to keep our kids in line, maybe they weren't as bad as we feel like they were but nobody batted an eye. Food was not bad. We didn't really have high expectations but considering all the kids AND neurodivergent adults ate their meals, I'm pretty impressed. I'd say this place is great if you have a bunch of picky people and need simple local food with LOTS of options. As I said, our server was exceptional. I didn't catch her name but she kept our drinks full, checked on us often, and never once made us feel like we were inconveniencing her or that she even noticed our kids were acting like they were anything other than small people being normal. This is not a fancy restaurant. They have a lot of options, good but simple food, low prices, and at least in our experience, amazing service. English was not our servers first language, and she went to get another person when she didn't understand why We'd leave that much of a tip. read more

We went to Cedar Point and decided to stop by for dinner before we went to the hotel. The food wasn't bad until I found a roach or whatever in my food. I pointed out to the waitress. She said "it happens". She said it wasn't from the kitchen. In her defense, she didn't charge me for my plate although I ate most of it. It came out of my fried potatoes and that really made me throw up. . But what bothered me was the "it happens" comment. Hopefully, they figure out a way to serve without bugs. read more

I'm from out of town and we visit several times a month. Today was the first bad experience my family has had since we have been going to Diannas Restaurant. We ordered the chicken Parmesan and the sauce was so salty that we could not eat it. Our waitress felt bad about it and took it to the manager that did not seem to care. She (Manager) was very unprofessional and acted like we were in the wrong about the whole ordeal. Our waitress was very good, apologized to us several times. Maybe the manager can learn from our waitress how to be professional in customer service instead of acting like we were in the wrong. We may have to find somewhere else to patronize when we visit Sandusky several times a month!!!!!! read more

I'm gonna give this place 4 stars ,just because the face of your restaurant, which is the bathroom the urinalysis was filthy in men's bathroom. A ten minute cleaning job to beautify this nice restaurant. The waitress snd staff are wonderful. The inside appears to be clean and orderly. We had breakfast food it was great . We enjoyed much , and had a variety. Coffee was just ok , A bit on the weak side . Don't let this discourage you from eating here . No place is perfect especially in these times . We actually had plans to go to Jolly Donut, but they were packed and the wait was too long. I had Dianna's as our back up, since they are open 24 hours. We arrived around 11:00am on Labor Day and the hostess was trying to sit a party of about 15. She ended up splitting them up into two tables. We were right behind them. I had made eye contact twice and tried to get her attention to let her know, hey, there aren't any giant tables open RIGHT NOW, but perhaps you can sit the party of 2 that was just standing here? Are you not going to sit other tables until you sit this giant party? As a result of her trying to sit this table of 15 at that moment, there was a growing line of 5 people waiting to pay. She had to take care of them. By then, another couple had walked in and she tried to seat them first. Thankfully, they told her we were there first. When I said something to her about us being here first, she was snippy and basically said, "I'm sitting who I see first". Because that is exactly how customer service works. Our waitress was very pleasant and was kind of the only redeeming factor. The food was just OK. Coffee was very weak. They "pride themselves" on serving freshly ground coffee, but it tasted and looked like they were using the same freshly ground coffee for the last 5 brews. I think I might have gotten minor food poisoning from Dianna's though. I'm pretty sure it was them, because this was the only meal in the past 2 days where BF and I didn't share our food. All in all, the food was cheap and our waitress was very nice. But everything else was a wash. Perhaps having a hostess that knows how to do her job and not be rude to customers would help. read more

A real bargain on terrific home-cooked food! We had breakfast here (awesome) and saw they offered a roast turkey dinner with soup or salad for $11.99 as a special today. We went back for dinner, and I ordered the turkey special. The salad was good size, but the dinner was huge! Homemade REAL mashed potatoes with gravy, homemade cornbread stuffing, a side of steamed veggies, and an ENTIRE turkey breast! This dinner would have easily fed two people, and it was totally delicious! We can't rave about Deanna's enough. read more
