I really enjoy the subs, but I do not like going here. Here is why: The ambiance is extremely cheesy; all the allusions to old-fashioned things is overplayed. they dont have a vinegar to put on your sandwich, only oil. The staff can be really rude. often they rush you through your order and dont even listen to your responses to their questions, then they re-ask you the questions. There is one guy who works there whose job is basically to clean the dining area and deliver customers their subs. This guy rams through the line of customers without excusing himself, almost pushing people out of the way. i've even seen him become confrontational with customers. the way you have to order your sub is ridiculous. they ask you 15 questions about your sandwich; every other place lets you tell them what you want. plus you cant see the sub while they assemble it. if they put the wrong things on your sub, you wont know until you eat it. read more

I have loved Dibellas for a long time but my experience here was beyond expectation. After waiting in like for about 5 minutes on a Friday night during rush hour, the manager proceeded to hand out cookies to waiting customers because of the wait. Come to find out, they were short staffed. Always great subs, great price. If you want to eat quality, cheap food don't overpay at zingermans- instead go here. read more

Dibella's serves large subs with generous amounts of meat and bread that's resistant but not stale. I would easily recommend this sub shop over larger chains like Subway, Jimmy John's, and Quizno's. I don't know if the restaurant's decor accurately mimics early 20th-century designs, but it is pleasantly dark. I wish it didn't have the "Nehi Served Here" sign, though, because I wanted to order some and they don't really serve it. One flaw with the ordering process, common to many sub shops, is that the large amounts of open space in the restaurant creates a cavern-like effect, making it difficult to hear the person behind the counter. This isn't big enough of a problem for me to lower my rating, however. Speaking of the people taking my order, I'm glad that they don't seem to be under orders to look overly cheerful and smiling. That is something that keeps me from going to Potbelly's too often (in addition to their mediocre subs, but I digress). I recommend the Godfather sub with spicy mustard; every Italian-style sub should be as good. read more

This is my favorite Ann Arbor sub shop. Something very classic about this place, both the decoration and the subs. Bread baked fresh on site. A toasted sub is the very best! I hope that PotBelly's opening up basically right in the parking lot of this place (not cool PotBelly's, not cool) doesn't affect their business. They seem to have drawn a healthy amount of returning customers to keep steady business, which is a testament to their product. I'll always point my friends here! read more

AMAZEBALLS! The Godfather is incredible but if you modify it slightly to have the addition of the corned beef from the Dagwood it makes it even better. The large is 2 solid meals for me, I can struggle through the medium and usually finish it. Have them sprinkle on oregano and black pepper at the end for an additional treat your taste buds will thank you for. read more

I have repeatedly returned to this sub shop to attempt to give it another chance. They never fail to disappoint. Food above average, but service is consistently terrible. Wait time excessive. This chain restaurant could take lessons from Jimmy John's. All staff, and particularly the managers, are exceptionally rude. A great place if you have an hour to spare. We (my husband and I) love DiBellas. Their subs are awesome and their cookies are incredible. We've always gotten good food and good service. Until my son's 2nd birthday party. We had DiBellas cater his 1st birthday party and it was a hit. So we ordered from them again for his 2nd and expected the same great service and subs we always get. Unfortunately that's not what we ended up receiving. The order was supposed to arrive at noon. At 12:30 with no sign of the delivery driver, we called to see what was up. We were told that the order was lost...they had zero record of it. (Yes we did have a receipt to confirm the order was placed and the delivery time was clearly stated on the receipt. The woman who answered apologized and said they get it to us in a half hour. An hour and a half later it finally arrived. I was grateful that they hustled to get it done and delivered to us but at that point the damage had been done. And if it was going to be 3x longer to get it to us than they said, I wish they would've just been honest about that. Some guests had already left the party-hungry. Others had to leave early just to get food for them and their families because they had other obligations like soccer games and what not and needed to eat. It was a huge bummer. The subs were good as usual and I think they threw in some extra cookies but honestly I think a hefty credit or gift card would've been appropriate for them dropping the ball in a major way. I'd love to get DiBellas again for his 3rd birthday in a couple weeks but I don't want to risk not having food for our guests again. I would definitely get a sandwich here again but probably wouldn't use their catering. read more

Ate here twice as of this review. This place is like Subway, but better in every way. The bread is softer and tastier. There are more meat options - and the meat is good quality. The service is fast, friendly and polite. The price is slightly higher than Subway. $21 got me a "small" sandwich (same size as a full sub at the other place), a "large" (twice as big) and a 16oz bottle of coke. I recommend the roast beef and corned beef, and the everything bread. read more

My favorite sandwiches in the area! Real toothsome sub rolls, not the limp and squishy ones at Subway, stuffed with delicious and fresh tasting meats, cheeses, and veggies. I like a hot sandwich, and they have a genuine grill to cook your fillings on (not an infrared toaster). Sandwiches are generously sized and loaded. Never eaten in the dining room, but while I wait for my takeout I've noticed it always looks clean. Cookies are good too. read more

The large Godfather, toasted "everything bread" with all veggies except the vile sweet peppers, add Provolone and oil, cut it in half. Split it with someone and it comes to around $5 for a huge sandwich stuffed with goodness. That makes for a great lunch price and enough food to push dinner back an hour. read more

I've been going for years, and usually I'm fairly happy with the sandwiches they serve. It's not consistent- sometimes they're really stocked full, sometimes half full. All depends on when you arrive and how busy they are. When they're good- they're the best I've ever had. The grilled subs are where they shine- the chicken philly is the best when cooked in the oil. Two mediums with large drinks will set you back $21, and they'll try get you into a combo with a cookie or chips- won't save any money, but the cookie is good. Dibella's have the best sub sandwiches in the Midwest. We have gone to the stores in Ohio and Buffalo and they are all good. I have been trying subs everywhere between Michigan and New York City, and have yet to find anything better. Perhaps I came on a bad night. ... restaurant was filthy, no clean tables. They were out of breads and bread sizes. They only had a very small selection of chips, as the rack was, almost empty. Staff was very unwelcoming. The sandwich itself was subpar. I would definitely not make a return trip with other superior options in the area. read more
