Ordered the Cheesesteak and the Italian. My Italian was so sloppy and greasy I ended up asking for it redone, but cold. They got that wrong too, brought it back out hot. I really wanted to like Dibella's given the rave reviews from people that usually don't steer me wrong. First trip: Came in on a busy day. We ordered and then sat down and waited for our number to be called. Hear the number and walk up to the counter...the sandwich is gone. Someone literally (and from what myself and the other guests could gather intentionally) walked off with my food (the person hadn't placed or paid for an order). So I wait for the staff to make me another sub. I get home and there was hardly any meat on it AT ALL. I'm usually the type to take meat OFF of subs if that gives you any idea of how little there was. I tried eating it with only half of the bread since between the two slices of bread and the mustard...I felt like I was eating a mustard sandwich. I still couldn't taste the meat. Ugh. So frustrating. Second trip: Gave it a while and decided to venture back. This time, I got double meat on the same small sub build-my-own sub just to be safe (despite the staff member looking at me like I was a crazed meat monger for even implying that what they give on a sandwich is not sufficient. I'm paying the extra money, right? What's the problem). Unfortunately, I was still not impressed. Didn't help that the staff member literally threw a sandwich at me at as I was standing by the counter. I was tempted to throw it back...but I was hungry. This will likely be my last trip. read more

The sandwiches are pretty good - fresh meats and vegetables, but they should deliver individualized condiments packets instead of "buckets" of mayonnaise, mustard and oil/vinegar (which needless to say separates and can't be mixed!). My biggest concern is the rudeness and ineptness of the delivery. We have ordered hundreds of dollars of subs from DiBella's and now they won't deliver to UM Hospital - you must come down to the curb and pick up your catering order! Simply put, these are the best subs in the area. The Godfather is my personal favorite.

We tried DiBella's for lunch today and were pleasantly surprised. The outside does not look like much, but inside was nice and comfortable. The staff were all friendly and offered good advice to first-timers. My wife had the steak & cheese and I had The Godfather - both on everything bread, which we both liked. Note that if you get a cold sandwich, you get it immediately, but hot ones take a while. The cost was reasonable, the sandwiches very good, and the experience enjoyable - we'll be back. read more

This is my favorite place for subs in Ann Arbor, it definitely beats Subway or Jimmy Johns. Really good bread and deli meats, my favorite is the Old Fashion Assorted with hot peppers. I do realize Dibella's is a chain, but this is the only one in Michigan, and there's only 15 in the entire country, so I think they really try to emphasize good quality. Dibella's has one of the best cheesesteak sandwiches, partially because it is ginormous, which is automatically the key to my heart. I think more than anything, the size of the subs at Dibella's is what attracts me more than anything. Sure, they have their signature "everything" bread, which is good, but not to die over, and they advertise that they have been open ever since Christopher Columbus came over, but the sheer size of their subs for the price cannot be beat by any of the other local sub shops around town. Sure Potbelly's is good when you're downtown on State St., but drive an extra 10 minutes (ok, maybe it would be 15-20 with traffic) out of your way and get Dibella's. read more

Ann Arbor has some great food options, but DiBella is truly one of my favorites. It's located in the same plaza was Whole Foods (and Potbelly's.) In terms of subs, would pick it over Potbelly's every single time. My favorite is the Godfather sub. It's a lot of Italian goodness on delicious bread. Be aware that they pick the breads themselves so it's not always the same size. The large sub is HUGE. It's enough for 2 people. I usually get the medium. You can get the bread toasted or non-toasted; either is great. Anyway, try it out. The cookies are good too. read more

The subs are great but the service is horrible. I was going to complain but after watching for a minute I realized that the entire staff is rude. The ordering process isn't super spelled out and they basically scream at you and you end up with whatever you get. The co manager took my order, was extremely rude and abrupt, and made me feel like being there was a problem for him. He was like that with every customer. These are the best sub sandwiches America has to offer, and Ann Arbor is lucky to have a Dibellas location. The bread is fantastic, and the subs are huge. Love this sub shopI have my family hooked too. the old Fashion is the best sub you will ever eat. Service is usually friendly and fast. I gave it 4 stars, because today we went in and two african american women were working,( must have been new ) I did not get there names,they didn't seem like they knew what to do.the one was complaining after what might have been the manager ,gave her things to do. Being from Philadelphia i am skeptical about most sandwich shops outside of the area. However the Godfather was fantastic. I had the large size and it was a little big when added with the chips and cookie. The roll was extremely fresh and i really enjoyed the sandwich. I would recommend not getting it warmed. It was good warmed but i feel like some of the meat got a little tough. The cookie was also very good. I had the oatmeal raisin. It was soft and tasty. If you are in the area it is worth a stop. The only downside was the soda is weak. By weak i mean watery. Buy a soda elsewhere. read more

For the money, can't be beat. Great service, ingredients that taste like *real* food... and A LOT of it. Are these the best sandwiches on the planet? Definitely not, but for the price, it's a kick-ass deal. I had the GodFather and everything from the bread to the fillings was very good. The bread is not the mushy/spongy thing you'd expect from a fast food place, but something you'd get at a sit down Italian place. The meats are deli-counter quality... and the slices are thick! When people say that you can feed multiple people with a medium sub, they are not kidding, so don't go bigger than that unless you still want to be eating it the next day. read more

I'm surprised more females haven't discovered this place. Every time I go in it's all males having their lunch break - or pretty much empty booths. The place is really only full from noon to 2 PM if you're looking for quiet. The sandwiches are the best in Ann Arbor as far as deli subway shops go. Mostly Dibella's (Dia-bellas?) is known for their sub sizes - you place your order and get a sandwich bigger than you expected. The staff is good - as a customer you EXPERIENCE the manager's instructions and POLICY as the guy behind the counter carefully prepares your standard franchise sub - and I really don't know why any kid without their post-high school education wouldn't want to work there. Seriously, it's that kind of student union place, a potential to take off and be a reasonably good time for the people working there...if that hasn't already happened.
