Should not be a pizza place. But if you want the best Italian food this side of the Atlantic, go here. All the pasta and sauces and well everything is made in house and sourced locally. The best Italian food I've ever had outside of Italy itself. I've had many dishes here and it's my go to spot on date night. I don't know why they try so hard to turn into a pizza place. It doesn't make sense to me when they should stick to what they are best at. Highly recommend the lobster Mac, beef stroganoff, gnocchi, and anything with the homemade pasta. Was in town for the night and stopped in. Had high hopes. Place was crowded and it seemed they only had one waitress which slowed things down. Food and drinks took a long time to come out. Waitress was very nice but she was overwhelmed. I ordered the chicken parm and when it finally came out something seemed off. The dish had a burnt odor and taste to it....but it wasn't burnt. Was very weird. Overall the sauce wasn't good and was watery. The chicken was good and tender. It was served in a small bowl which seemed odd and there was only one piece of chicken. We made last minute reservations for 8 people and they were very accommodating. We were quickly seated in a nice side room and greeted by our waitress. I wish I remembered her name because she did a great job the whole meal. To make it simple everything was very fresh and cooked perfectly. The table enjoyed very fresh salads or antipasto. All with generous portions. For entrees there was perfectly made pizza, large raviolis, and Frutti di Mare, clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops, and calamari over our homemade fettuccini which was a huge serving. One reason we went here was we have some gluten free people. Their new gluten free Cauliflower pizza done with chicken bacon ranch was a hit along with the chicken riggies. One has very sensitive celiac disease and she had no issues. They did a good job with the GF. We had a time crunch to get to a concert and they were very accommodating to help us on our way asap once we were done. Sorry no pics as we dug right in to eat. We will be back. read more

Been here twice now. Excellent service (cheerful and attentive wait staff); fantastic atmosphere; and awesome wood fired pizza. I've been here both with and without my 7 and 9 year old boys. Both times had an excellent experience. Reading through some of the negative reviews, doesn't sound like many of them are the restaurant's fault (group of 30 plus didn't get amazing service at a small restaurant- big surprise; knocking off stars for not having draft beer- how is that poor service? Things like that lol). The place has excellent pizza and great service. I'll be back again soon. read more

I ordered a take-out 16" Margarita Pizza. It seems like they use a dough that is for a 12" pie and stretch it out. Bottom of the pie was charred and looked like the oven baking surface was never cleaned. Also ordered a Capricci salad which was mushy and tasteless. Met family for dinner on Sunday. The rice balls were a special appetizer (not on the regular menu). They were two types. One filing was green and tasted of broccoli & pesto and the other was white and tasted of cheese. The Chicken Reggie's had a good amount of chicken with a sauce that was creamy. Ordered a pizza on a Friday night for the family, only to get the pizza home, open the box and find a burnt, literally to crisp, pizza crust and bottom was burnt up also. Had half a slice because I was starving and had to spit it out because it tasted like an ashtray! Manager tried playing it off saying "sometimes the flour gets a litte char from the brick oven" the laziness and ineptitude from this management to actually put a burnt pizza in a box and sell to someone shows the low class of this establishment. Found this place while exploring the area. What a great find! Staff were friendly and helpful and the owner spent time talking with us. The pasta is all made on the premises. My husband had the pizza and it was exceptional! My lasagna was truly delicious with layers of perfectly cooked pasta and lots of cheese and meat. The owner explained that he uses 4 different cheeses in it! We couldn't have been more pleased with everything about this place! If you're anywhere near here make it a point to stop in and have a real great meal! read more

How have I missed visiting DiCastro's before? A friend suggested them so my husband and I stopped in on a rainy Saturday night. We had a bit of a wait but had a friendly bartender who showed us pics of his cute puppies he had for sale! Once seated we started with the antipasto. A basic selection of lettuce, meats, etc, the dressing was the star of the show and made the whole dish! The freshly baked bread was fantastic and worth the drive over from Sylvan Beach for the bread alone! Continuing on a carb fest after our yummy loaf of bread we had one of their wood fired pizzas that was also very good. Nice crust and delicious toppings but after our antipasto and bread, we couldn't even finish the smaller size! Most folks around us had pasta entrees that all looked great and we were pleased to see a large gluten free pasta selection that will please our niece with Celiac's as she rarely has a choice other than gluten free spaghetti. After hearing family was no longer satisfied with the food and customer service, we ordered a pizza anyways since we had found a coupon on Yelp. We have eaten here our entire childhood, and were excited for the brick oven pizza we were so fond of. The employee informed us (after asking 2 other coworkers) that he had never seen the coupon before but would give the discount stated a price. Then the owner sent the employee a text message saying would be no coupon because it was an "unapproved coupon". On top of that, there was a $3 card fee (not due to a minimum price but because all transactions with cards have a $3 card fee). The owner then called the restaurant and and the employee asked if I wanted to talk to the owner but at this point I did not want to be told by yet another person that I was unable to get a $3-$4 discount on a pizza due to a technicality I had no way of knowing. The inflexibility of the owner is inexcusable and must be the reason for the completely empty restaurant we walked into when we came to pick up the pizza. Pizza was okay, but the experience was soured by our encounter at the restaurant. It's a shame that we will no longer be coming here due to repeated lack of customer service. read more

So I got takeout. I really liked the pizza! I think it's a bit pricey ($20 for a large) but it was delicious. The staff was welcoming and friendly. I would definitely eat there sometime to try it out. The medium pizza was pretty small and I actually thought it was a small. If you do takeout, they don't have two liters so you have to go across the street to fastrac. I had the chicken Parmesan which was pretty good except I did not care for the sauce. It was very tart, not to my liking. The bread was bland so I did not eat that. Other family members said their food was satisfactory, but a few others had issues with their meals. Nothing was done to remedy this. Last night's horrible incidents have led me (and all of my paying colleagues) to the unfortunate decision to never go here again. I'd heard of other guests' experiences being poor but didn't quite believe them because I've only had positive experiences in my previous visits. I often got pizza to go or have dined in several times a year. The pizza and our bartender were great. The way our group was treated by management was unbelievable. After our group of 30 people purchased $400 worth of food and numerous drinks, some people sat in the adjacent dining area which was empty because there were only two tables available in the immediate bar area. (All of the pizzas that we ordered were placed on a table in this empty room.) Just as people began to eat their meals, we were informed by a waiter that we had to move immediately to make room for the impending dinner crowd (at 4:30). We were forced to gather up our plates and drinks and eat crowded around the tables in the bar. There did not end up being a dinner rush. Three couples ate in that area between 4:30 and 7:00 (when we were not so politely asked to leave). Our group condensed to the bar area, where we continued to have drinks and finish our food. After about an hour or so, we were approached by one of the owners and were told that we needed to quiet down because they were a family restaurant and there were other patrons in the adjacent room. Then, asked when our group would be finished. No one in our party was being belligerent, but they still felt it necessary to make us believe that we were putting them out by being there. read more

With CNY being the hub of pasta and pizza, there are so many places to choose from. DiCastro's is one of my favorite places to have authentic brick oven pizza and their pasta is to die for. Way better than choosing a pizza chain. I recommend trying their Bee Sting pizza. Their house salad comes with a delightful in house made balsamic dressing which I can't find else where. As for pasta, I really enjoyed their florentine haddock that comes with a cream sauce and fresh pasta. read more

No bread was brought once seated. Antipasto was brought with dinner. One meal was brought before all others. Bread came out after all dishes were served. This is not the first time. Several of our group had lunch sandwiches and they were short on meat with rolls that were too big. Flavors were ok, but not super impressive. No draft beer options seemed a little odd to me. Disappointment is an understatement. When this place first opened a few years ago it was a fresh new establishment with great pizza, decent Italian, and competitive prices. Flash forward to today. The general consensus of our party was the food was average to poor, depending on what you got. The prices... outlandish!! Especially for Rome NY!! We got a 3 topping pizza $21, plus $1.80 for extra SAUCE(?)...NOBODY else charges for this!! Manicotti $17, plus meatballs $4.50 Coffee, Water. Gratuity auto added and $1.75 fee for using a debit card $61 meal for two with no beverages but coffee and water...and it was pasta and pizza. Not surf and turf!! Admittedly, the service and staff were great. But the bottom line is the food and the prices were not. No thanks. I'll stick to LaRomas... The Franklyn... hell I'll drive to Camden and go to Avicolis!! One place I'll never go back to is this place. read more

Worst customer service I've ever dealt with. We ordered 3 pizzas and one was extremely burnt to a crisp. Owner was rude when I called said it's the type of oven I said no this pizza is burnt. I was kindly asking for a new one to exchange and he hung the phone up on me. Drove there to get a refund and was told to never order from them again.
