Went in for a slice on a recommendation. They had about 6 different pizza choices ready to go for slices. They have a thicker slice than I prefer but I got the mushroom and sausage which was LOADED with toppings. The crust was golden brown looking great but a slightly doughy but hard bottom which made cutting it difficult with plastic silverware as to not dirty my dress clothes. They used a mild spicy sausage which I liked as it gave a bit more flavor compared to the canned mushrooms. Slice was ok and good for a quick easy meal. The cheesecake slice was large and VERY dense with a side of strawberry topping for me to use or not use. It was very thick with large chunks of strawberries. A slice and a cheesecake cost $9. Service was quick and straight to the point. Overall ok quality It won't become a regular place for me but it's good for a quick meal when you have limited time. read more

Since they changed ownership I noticed a drop in customers. The regular people that were working there have all been let go. The fryer was always going. Not anymore. I ordered 2 plain slices and 1/2 sausage roll. The girl range it up at $25.xx! I looked at her like I wasn't going to pay that....she recalculated and the price was now $16.xx. We're from out of town..found this place close to where we were staying. We really were excited. The shop is super cute, I fell inlove immediately. The pretty girl that attended us was awesome she really hyped up the wings. I went from getting a 10 piece to getting a 30 piece instead. And as much as we enjoyed her customer service, it was a mistake. The wings had no sauce (I asked for sloppy) the pizza did not look appetizing at all but we said f**k it. Looks aren't everything and it wasn't the worst. Definitely not the best. What absolutely killed it for me was the fact that there was a long a** hair in the middle of my slice. Completely ruined it for me. We enjoy ordering from little mom and pop shops but this wasn't it. Again we're from out of town so maybe sloppy isn't the same here as it is for us but the sauce was just oil not actual sauce. Really disappointing..absolutely not worth the $70+ bucks I spent. I just came into town from New York City last night around 750 pm with my parents cause I'm bringing them back home to Utica and we decided to stop at one of our favorite pizza places in Utica, which is Tonys on burrstone Road however, when I ordered the pizza I asked for a large cheese they told me 30 minutes. I went there in 30 minutes which was 830 roughly to get the pizza and there was a young girl by the name of G I believe (I heard the associates say G )that she didn't even acknowledge me. When I walked into the store. I was making eye contact with her and then she finally said can I help you and I said yes, Jennifer (meaning for p/u). She took the box of pizza from off the shelf, put it on the counter. I opened it up just to make sure it looked very saucy and good like we usually like it and the crust was dark and hard and the cheese on top was very burnt not light. She then brought a spatula over lifted up the bottom and said it's light on the bottom and I said no no definitely not, we don't want this my parents have dentures it's too crispy for them. She walked away and didn't even offer to say oh can I make you another one or I'm sorry about that. Is there something else I can get you nothing like that was offered. I was so flustered. The disrespect and treatment that the young girl G had given me was awful and incredibly inconsiderate and I walked out. I checked on my mom in the car because my mom has dementia and I decided to come back in and maybe they would apologize or something. and I I heard that one girl G speaking about me. This is what she stated "oh if that bitch is not happy with the pizza she could've went somewhere else I don't know who she thinks she's speaking to me like that". She's unhappy with the pizza oh well".so I overheard that I said, excuse me, the girl with the colored hair kay came up to the counter and said do you want something else? What is the problem? I said excuse me why are you yelling at me and I don't want anything else after being mistreated the problem is that your co worker has an attitude problem and doesn't know how to treat customers right with customer service and or respect. Very immature. I said I will be talking with Mike or Karen and I left. This shows that these kids nowadays have no respect towards others especially adults. The Customer Service sucked! I was so upset. I did not order another pizza and I refuse to go there at night again. I will be speaking to the managers today because they need to be held accountable for the way they treat customers. I guess being teenagers or pf the ages 18-21 years old, the new generation Does not know how to treat people with courtesy. I then ended up going to Franco's where I got a beautiful cheese pizza. Don't get me wrong Tonys is awesome the staff during the day is great because the adults there are super respectful and responsible pizza however last night was not, and I will only come there during the day. We ordered the everything wings fried extra crispy and unlike many of the pizzerias I've tried, Tony's got my wings right. The sauce was really good. A nice smoky garlic blue cheese with a hot Buffalo flavor as the back notes. We asked for extra sauce and bought more on the side, I would have given it 5 stars but the sauce was so small that I had to get 4 just for a decent amount. It was a no stars for me really. Not friendly woman at the register. Small pizza shop was passable on cleanliness. In terms of the pasta, they had tons of it, pre-made, pre sauced, ready to be reheated for your displeasure. A true culinary disaster to see an Italian establishment in upstate NY like this. The pizza... ever have fast trac pizza? It's as if they ordered all ingredients directly from fast trac supplier. Copy cat. Honestly incredibly underwhelming. This is upstate NY, you gotta come harder then that with the pizza. You need to hand toss and make pizza to impress and be successful. Price is cheap, just like quality. This place literally is "as good as it gets" for pizza in Utica! This is by far the tastiest pizza around! This is saying a lot, since Utica is home to many great pizzerias. I grew up in Utica, but now live about an hour and a half away. In spite of the distance, I still plan Utica trips just to get a Tony's pizza. It's the crust: so flavorful and never mushy! Ordered an eggplant sub, no sauce double cheese. It was good. My only complaint is that there was only one thin layer of eggplant. If I didn't have the cheese, it would have been mostly bread. Supposedly well known known for their consistency for over the years, I would say that after my experience on a recent take-out order that this is no longer the case. On my way to work, I decided to stop and visit a friend who has been a patient in a long-term care facility nearby. He is a big fan of tuna fish, so being that Tony's was conveniently on my way, I ordered a large tuna sub with everything to go. For whatever reason, the Tony's staff waited until I got there to make the sub. It didn't take long, a few minute wait, not a big deal, but I didn't realize the result until after I paid and left. When I helped my friend unwrap the sub, the first thing we both notice is that the inside of the sub is doused in oil making it instantly uneatable. After further inspection, there maybe a small sub's worth of tuna fish spread thinly over half of the open bread surface. The fun didn't stop there as we found a long blonde hair stuck to the side of one half of the sub! It was at this point an obvious rush job in the making. I subsequently called the manager at Tony's and politely told him about the issues with the order. The only thing he said was that he was sorry that I felt that way and would not offer to make good on it. To be fair, this was my first and fortunately last experience patronizing this popular local establishment. Although I can live with being ripped off for ten bucks, this crappy excuse for service was meant for my sick friend and my entire reason for this review. So if you decide to buy food from Tony's on Burrstone Rd in Utica, eat in and don't forget to bring a hairbrush with you!!!! read more
