First of all I am not a hardcore gamer person, so sometimes places where enthusiasts are I may feel a little out of place, but definitely not at DiceHouse. I have been here a few times and each time I have felt completely at ease. I went there with friends the first time to check it out and I had never played any of the games. I asked some questions about what a newbie might enjoy and the difficulties of each of the games. I ended up buying this game called Munchkin ( a truly magnificient game---check it out!). I have been back to this store for Game Nights, where there is lots of tasty food, good company and a terrific atmosphere and of course to stock up on all things Munchkin, including a very pretty set of pearl colored dice (i'm a girl, meaning pretty things count). Went to a casual game night on a Sunday for a great time. The tables all had mats on them, so picking up cards of the table was not an issue. It wasn't terribly crowded, and we played for hours without anyone shooing us away. No cover fee, no time limit, no pressure for us to purchase a game. At the end of the game night, we looked through all the shelves of games, and we were so overwhelmed with how many titles the store carried! Every time I went back to a shelf, I saw something new. Ended up buying a game for myself and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was even 10% off. The shop owner was incredibly friendly and easy to chat with about board gaming. I started my board game collection from here 4 years ago and its where I got most of my games at very good prices paired up with a Board of Gamers discount. Such a cute cozy place!! We just had korean bbq at Mr. BBQ and decided to check this place out and man it was fun! They have an area for you to choose from an AMPLE of choices of boardgames to try out there! So, we've always had Zombie Dice in our cart for amazon, but never really bought it haha and we finally got to try it here! cuz they had a demo available, well upon trying out the game we decided we didn't like it LOL! then we played Shiba Inu House and it was such a fun game! Update time! I love love love this place. Tuan (the owner) is the coolest owner of a game store. He is pleasant and is very friendly with anyone in his store (Good policy). He is also a gamer, so he knows the stuff he sells. Ever since the renovation, the store is stocked with the major stuff: board games, card games, CCGs (like Magic) and RPGs (like Dungeons and Dragons). Card sleeves (to protect your cards), dice, and accesories galore. There are ample table space so you can play games if you like, or hobnob with the regulars (and they're always there). This is a place to just hang out and relax, or a place to be on the edge of your seat as you bite, claw, hairpull, eye-gouge, punch and kick your way to victory! To keep yourself updated, DHG has a Facebook page and a website. Check those out so you know when Magic the Gathering day vs. board game day is. Years ago there was a game store in Fullerton called The Game Castle. It was not just one of the best game stores around, but also the main hang-out for anyone interested in board games, RPG's, card games like Magic the Gathering, and anything else that you could possibly want or imagine. Over the years The Game Castle suffered as videogames took over the game market. It eventually moved, and recently has closed its doors forever. That was then, this is now. Two of the elder employees of that fine establishment have come back to Fullerton, across the street from their old haunt, and have opened DiceHouse Games! The store is smaller, because they emphasize the best selling genres of games. Not the obscure titles that only a few care about. As a result of this focus, you have Magic the Gathering Games, Heroclix tournaments, Warmachine leagues, and so much more. All being played in a brand-new, squeaky clean environment, where you are encouraged to play, and meet new people. The atmosphere in this store is amazing. The second you walk in, you want to buy something and play until your brain gets fried. They have 3 large tables for playing, and a small area with a couch and several chairs around a t.v. so that you can relax and watch a DVD, or play PS2 or Wii. They even sell drinks and snacks. Basically, it has been designed to be a hang-out. Everyone is encouraged to make themselves at home. The hours claim that the store closes at 9pm on the weekends, but I guarantee you that you will be playing until midnight along with everyone else. What more can I say, it's the perfect successor to The Game Castle. They have improved on everything from the actual merchandise to the inviting atmosphere. The board game Eldritch Horror just recently came out, and I called all the board game stores near me to see if they stocked it. They had no idea what I was talking about, and they didn't stock it. I called up Dice House Games, and the owner knew exactly what I was talking about and had it in stock. I drove out to Dice House Games, and not only was it displayed prominently at the front of the store, but it had 20% off. Incredible! I have lived in Seattle, Phoenix, Colorado and Wyoming, and as far as game stores go (board games & RPGs), this place is a billion times better than any other gaming store I have been at. It's neat and orderly, the inventory is very extensive, and the prices are very reasonable; I don't feel like prices are being artificially jacked up like so many other gaming stores do. This place is a dream come true, and if it wasn't such a grueling drive (due to both distance and California drivers), I would come here often. As it stands, to get to the store is a bit of a trip for me, but I still plan on coming back at some point. I'm not into TCGs, so I can't vouch for that, but if you're looking for board games or RPGs, then I strongly, strongly recommend this location. read more

This place is floor to ceiling covered with board games for all shapes, sizes, ages, interests, skill levels, etc. The workers here are insanely knowledgeable. This place is called Dice House to expect to see a whole section of their store dedicated to dice! Many colors and faces to choose from. I'd assume Magic the Gathering is one of their largest audiences/customers, but they definitely have something for everyone. My brother frequents this place often and I was happy to check it out with him on his last visit. There is even a section for board games that are for demos so if you aren't sure about your choice you can demo it for free and then purchase it to take it home. My brother has bought several board games from here and has not yet been disappointed. We hope to be back soon. read more

I was a Magic: the Gathering player not so long ago... In my days as an avid and serious player one of the most important things for me was to find a good shop to play at. What makes for a good shop? A clean and comfortable store; owners that care; a good community of players. Those types of shops are few and far between, but this shop is one of them for sure. It's actually made me consider getting back into the game of Magic because of the store's location. And I have played in pretty much every store from Collector's Paradise in Winnetka, Pair of Dice Games in Oceanside to Cyberzone in Moreno Valley and pretty much every store in between. So I know a quality store when I see one. One of the owners I met, Tuan, is a really cool and down to earth guy who is also an avid gamer himself. He loves what he does and it shows in the store. What a difference! I got a Yelp message from the owner of Dice House Games. It was a very nice apology for the service, or lack there of, that we received and he even said that my review helped. He invited us back to try the store again. I will be the first one to give mad props to any owner/supervisor/manager who is willing to interact with a Yelper. It shows that they truly take our reviews seriously. SOOOO.... since Tuan asked us to give his store another try I thought we should do just that. Today we were in the area and thought it would be a great time to drop in. The store was full of MTG players. It was all a buzz. They have Saturday night MTG drafts! Very cool. We walked in and looked around and when we were close to the back where Tuan is he greeted us. Awesome! He talked to my husband, he interacted with the players, and someone else behind the counter and no one in the store felt ignored. So Tuan, if you read this, thank you for the great greeting and for the good conversation. Tuan has a great selection of singles if you are looking for specific MTG cards. His prices are also comparable to the internet prices. Plus, he has a Saturday night MTG draft every Saturday which is not that common! Like I said, I am a Yelper-real people, real reviews. So last time we were here I gave our experience a one star. In fact I we didn't even buy anything because we walked out after the poor service. This time I gave our experience a FIVE STAR! We were greeted. We felt welcome in the store. We had a nice talk with the owner. We purchased singles, packs, and supplies we needed and had a great experience. The average of course is a three star. We will be returning when we are in the area and I think my husband is looking forward to possibly going out to do a Saturday draft from time to time. We hop in the car in a mad dash north and bingo, it's off of the corner of Chapman and State College across the street from where another game store used to be. This place is sparse because it looks like all their money is tied up in Magic: The Gathering cards. They did have some various styles and colors of dice in their glass case, but alas, not what he wanted. I recently started playing Magic: The Gathering with my two close friends. I came into this shop after reading the positive Yelp reviews, and I was not disappointed. The store owner (whom I forgot to get his name, but he is an Asian guy) was very kind to me. I told him I was new to MTG, and asked him very nooby questions. I was afraid he was going to give me a look like "wow, this guy is such a noob!", but he didn't. Instead, he was very attentive and answered all my questions kindly. The selection of magic cards is excellent! ended up buying 3 rares, a few uncommons, 70 or so common cards, and two packs of plastic card sleeves. Prices on the single cards: 10 cents for all common cards 25 cents for all uncommon cards 1 dollar for all rares in the huge "rare binder" The other rares/mystic rares all vary in price. Also, booster packs are 3 dollars a pop if you buy 10 or more (i think). Otherwise, booster packs are $3.60 each. I would give him 5 stars on his prices, but I know of a few other places that have booster packs and rares priced cheaper. 4 stars on MTG pricing :) (I do understand that this is a business, and it is hard to break even at a hobby store) I definitely recommend this store to any new players. Don't be scared, just give Dice House Games a visit. You won't regret it! read more

Decided to check out Dice House today as my wife and I were in the area. Walked in to a nearly empty store (it was around lunch on a Sunday so I wasn't too surprised) which really allowed us to see how organized and clean the entire place was! There are a bunch of tables set up in the middle for people to play games on as well as a decent-sized rack of opened games you can demo; always a bonus. All the games were well laid-out and easy to browse and their prices were very fair. In fact, there was a sale going on which everything that much sweeter. The person behind the counter was courteous and polite as well. It may not have the staggering selection of STUFF that, say, Brookhurst does, but it's no slouch in selection and is far more organized. There's even a used RPG section (with a boxed copy of TORG!). The only thing it's missing are miniatures and paints, but I suspect they've really become the niche of an already niche market unless you plan on devoting a giant section to Warhammer and War Machine. We picked up two games and earmarked a few more for our eventual return because we'll definitely be coming back! It'll definitely be worth the trip. EDIT: Looking at their photos, it looks like the used to carry miniatures before. Ah well, I'm sure the current board game renaissance helps make way more money per square foot which is still fine by me. I started coming here this summer because I was looking for a local game shop and this one was the highest rated one near me. The owner of the shop is really nice and he remembered my name even after my first visit. I first came to play in MtG draft, but started to play in other events such as pre-release, FNM, and game day. The draft is a little pricey at 15$, but prize support goes multiple boosters to the top places and everyone else receives a booster which is really nice. The rest of the events are of regular price. Tournaments and events usually start on time which is a big plus as some other game stores I have been to take 15-30 minutes to get an event started. The singles here, though, are very fairly priced! I always check this place first if I am looking for specific singles. They are also stocked with gaming accessories such as card sleeves, deck boxes, dice, and playmats. This not solely a card shop as it has many other games such as board games and role playing games. There are plenty of games on the shelves that surround the store. The environment is really friendly here. There will be days where it is packed and you can get a chance to interact and socialize with many people. Other days it may be a little empty, but those days are nice to bring in a group of friends and just play and hang out. The shop also has its own bathroom, which is really awesome for a game shop in my opinion. read more

I was at brunch with my girlfriend, my sister, and sister's friend. I really wanted a board game, and someone had mentioned Dice House to me. Despite all of us looking like we had just come from a cocktail party, we decided to stop in just to see what it was like. My first impression when I walked in the door: wow. There are a LOT more board and card games than I realized. Luckily, the guy at the front was super helpful, considering we were probably some of the more clueless customers to wander into the shop as of late. (For reference, I have about 2 board games in my apartment). He took the time to answer plenty of questions, give a couple recommendations, and I'm sure I asked him at least 10 things. Seeing as it was Sunday, it also happened to be 'demo day', which means you can select a board game from their demo collection and play it for free. Awesome! We settled on a board game (mainly at my prodding), and had an absolute blast for a couple hours. No hassles, no pressure, nothing. I ended up buying a card game at the end because they had run out of the game we were playing. Yes, the games are a little more expensive than Amazon. But I don't mind spending an extra $5 to support a small business that's as cool as Dice House. I'll be back here - especially when I'm thinking about a new game in the hopes that they might have a demo first! And for the record, absolutely no one hassled any of the 3 women I was with like a couple reviews mentioned. I heard some good things about this place so figured I would go check it out. There were no other customers in the store when I arrived. I had to say hi to the guy behind the counter for him to acknowledge my presence. I tried to start a casual conversation with about Magic because I was interested in starting again. I tried twice to talk to him but I guess Facebook or whatever he was computering was more important. I hung around the store for about 10 minutes browsing the games to see what they had. I had questions about some of them but I was not offered any help. The parking is also terrible I had passed by once before and I planned ahead and brought my skateboard to get from the available parking to the shop. Game stores need to realize that with the internet he have to provide added value to their customers if they want to compete. This added value has to go above and beyond instant gratification. They get two stars for having a good amount gaming space. I bought a 100ct pack if Red DeckPro deck protectors on Tuesday August 10th because I didn't want to waste 45 minutes traveling on 4 freeways to get there. I hope they read this and the guy remembers the greaser with a skateboard because the 6 dollars I spent will be all they are going to get. Best board game store I have ever been to. It is by far the cleanest, most well organized, and open store we have ever visited. They had a large section for game play, but it looked like mostly magic and rpg playing going on. No empty tables to join in on a Wednesday evening. They had some sales, but most of their games were still more expensive than online. I was super impressed by their selection! Loss of star for the unfriendly man who was working behind the counter. He didn't look up from his computer when we came in, nor did he check on us while we were looking around. Had he been friendly at all we probably would have bought something, but instead we left empty handed. If you are new to board games be sure to stop by this store.
