We bought a GE dryer a little over a year ago here and had GE's one year and Dick Van Dyke's 10 year warranty with it. After a few months of owning it we noticed that strings from shorts, sweatshirts, and such would get caught between the drum and housing. It would end up ripping the end cap off the string and twist it up very tight. It even ripped some of the shorts. We had DVD's repairman out and they didn't find anything other then the one side of the housing was sticking out a little. Fixed that. A month or so later, same thing. Called again. Was told bearing housing needed replaced. Couple months later, same thing. Caught strings. This time though the main board was fried so that had to be replaced. Talked with the service rep and said that this was getting ridiculous. She assured us they were going to send their executive technician this time. He came, replaced the board and "tightened everything up". Forward a couple months and once again strings are getting caught and tearing up clothes. The service department rep told us that they only replace an appliance after four different mechanical failures. That's what the ten year warranty says in the fine print. . She said we have only had two actual failures. The other two times don't count as failures even though the dryer is eating our clothes. Two weeks ago it happened again. This time the same tech was out. My 22 year old daughter was home to meet him and he was an ass to her. Once my father in law got there his tone changed and he tried to explain what we were doing wrong with the dryer. Said we need to put in smaller loads, and bag or air dry items with strings. WTH!! This dryer had a larger capacity than our old one and we don't put larger loads than we ever have. Never have had this problem with any dryer I've ever had. Also, if we wanted to air dry our clothes we wouldn't have bought the dang thing in the first place! We are out of the GE warranty, but am past trying to work with Dick Van Dyke Appliance, so will try contacting GE now I guess. Will never buy something from them again! read more

We've had two issues with our refrigerator and called dick van dyke to fix it both times. The first was pretty normal, nothing to note positive or negative. The second time which played out over the last two weeks was ridiculous. First... I couldn't reach them. Nobody picked up the phone and the voicemail was full...(doesn't bode well for leaving a message). After 5 attempts I gave up. Finally reached them and service man was NOT able to come check it out right away, it was 48 hours before issue was looked at. We were told that part needed to be ordered, but no follow up appointment to install part was initiated. By time we realized their error we could not get serviced for another week. Upon the completion of service they attempted to double charge us for the initial service fee and would have if we did not hang on to original receipt. DO NOT RECOMMEND DICK. We bought our kitchen appliances from Shermans two years ago so when our dishwasher stopped working right we called them. We still haven't heard back from their service department. (We called 26 hours ago) Just after contacting them we also contacted Dick Van Dyke Appliance World. Their service guy just left. Our dishwasher just happened to work without him doing anything to it. It cost less than what Shermans quoted us for a service call and we got a lot of information from him on what the problem could've been AND there is a 30 day service call warranty. (The problem could've been something stuck to mess with water level sensors.) I'm really happy with the way we were treated, how fast they came out, and all the things we learned about how to maintain our dishwasher. I would give no stars if possible. Bought a Whirlpool washer from them. First time buying anything from them. They come off as a company that is going to support the customer. That is what I wanted. If the product turned out bad, they would stand behind it. I unfortunately got the exact opposite. A company that basically will not support the product they sell when there are issues. I could write a book about their dysfunctional product support. I will keep this short. WIthin weeks after getting the clothes washer it was not running properly. Basically much of the washer has been replaced over more than 6 different visits and it is still not working properly. Their warranty talks about part availability and numerous failures leading to replacement, but they will not do that. They readily blame the manufacturer, Whirlpool. Ultimately we called Wirhlpool. They were apologetic for the clear failure of their product and we were told that they will begin the process of working on replacement. Why can't Dick Vandyke (DVD) adequately communicate with the manufacturer for support or stand behind their sales? Dealings with DVD is among my worst dealings with a business as a consumer. Definetly a top 5 worst. My name is Wesley Slough. I fully stand behind everything I write. It is sad that I am here taking time to write this. Look at DVDs ratings on Yelp and that is all you need to know about this company. If the product works right then this probably isn't an issue. If it doesn't, good luck getting support. Dick Van Dyke charges $45 for a service call. The technician found a chard of glass which had bypassed the filtering system. Total time to fix was 5 minutes with no parts needed. But, because he was able to fix it on the spot, I was charged $127! This "process" was not mentioned when the appointment was set up! read more

I purchased GE Monogram appliances from Dick Van Dyke Appliance World less than ten years ago. They did not offer their free ten year warranty on higher-end appliances. I recently had a water inlet valve replaced on the dishwasher to the tune of slightly over $160, using a part that I later found out I could have purchased for $20 online (actual GE replacement part). I'm guessing that the vendor they purchase parts from sells it to Dick Van Dyke for less than that. Pretty hefty repair labor costs for a repair that took about 30 minutes. It makes me wonder if the repair cost is based on the cost of the appliance vs. the actual labor/parts cost of the repair. read more

About a month ago I began remodeling my kitchen and purchased about $6000 worth of new appliances from Dick Van Dyke (DVD). The sales rep, Holly, was very informative and extremely helpful. I was out of town when the appliances were to be delivered, but I had informed DVD my contractor would be present to receive them on my behalf. I mentioned I wanted my old fridge to be moved into my basement, so Holly advised me their installers could do this for me and she'd make note of this on the installers' invoice. She said it would likely cost $30 to move, but some of their installers might not even charge me since it is such an easy task. Just in case, I left $30 in cash with my contractor to pay the installer before heading out of town. I received a call from the installer, Aaron, while I was with my family out of town stating he'd be at my house in about 15 min with my appliances. I immediately placed a call to contractor to give him a heads up of Aaron's arrival and so he could move the current contents of my fridge into a cooler until the new fridge was installed. About 25 min later I get a call from my contractor stating Aaron will not deliver any of the appliances unless he receives $30 and there was no mention of moving my old fridge to the basement on his invoice, which would be another $30. If he wasn't paid up front, the appliances would be left in the driveway and the old fridge left untouched. This is not what Holly explained to me--the installers were not to charge me for delivery and the $30 was only to move my old fridge. I called Holly to explain the situation, she said she was on the other line with Aaron and would take care of it. About 25 min later I get a call from my contractor stating Aaron is still in his car on the phone. I called Holly back and asked what was causing the delay. She, again, said she'd take care of it. After another 25 min I get a call from my contractor explaining Aaron demanded $60 up front before doing any work ($30 for the delivery and $30 to move my old fridge) and since it had already been over an hour since Aaron had arrived at my house, the contents of my fridge were melting in the cooler, so my contractor gave Aaron my $30 cash and paid the remaining $30 out of his own pocket to just move the whole situation along. When I returned to town, I spoke with Holly's manager Russ Wolf at DVD. I explained what happened and advised of my dissatisfaction and that DVD owed me $30 I shouldn't have been charged for delivery. Russ said he is surprised to hear this as Aaron is one of his best installers and has been with DVD for a few years. He said he'd speak with Aaron and my contractor, then give me a call. I get a call not 30 min later from Russ stating he spoke with Aaron and advised only $30 was collected, not the $60 my contractor said was demanded and refused to call my contractor to get his side of the story. He explained DVD's installers are paid very well so there was no way Aaron was lying and DVD did nothing wrong. Russ basically stated that my contractor was lying and pocketed the $30 himself, but if I wanted the $30 he would pay me out of his own pocket and then send my contractor the bill as DVD does not pay for things they do not owe. Russ didn't care that I was dissatisfied with DVD or Aaron, nor did he care that a very simple transaction caused multiple parties a huge headache. Instead he only focused on being right and unwilling to offer the customer service I felt I deserved. Russ continued by stating my contractor had signed an invoice outlining $30 was paid and a copy was left at my house. This document was not left at my house, so I requested a copy. I received an email with the invoice attached and Russ stating, "The issue I have here is that I do not want you thinking Dick Van Dyke did anything wrong here." The portion of the invoice stating $30 cash was paid for labor to move my old fridge was not signed by my contractor, but the installer had "N/A" written in the signature line making this invoice rather irrelevant. I emailed Russ back and informed him that the invoice was not signed by contractor as he had told me, but the customer service (or lack thereof) was the main reason for my dissatisfaction and, as a result, they've lost a customer for life. Russ replied that he would send this issue to his supervisor, but his supervisor never did contact me. The way in which DVD devalued me as a customer and chose their pride over customer satisfaction is something I will not stand for. NOTE: I recently heard of another customer who purchased a fridge with DVD and had the same installer Aaron require $30 for delivery. When Aaron didn't get paid he left the fridge in the driveway in the pouring rain. The customer instead gave her business to Lowe's. So I encourage you to go somewhere else for your appliances as you most certainly will receive better customer service and appreciation for your business elsewhere!! read more

We bought a brand new Bosch dish washer on 6-08-19 after our old 8-10 year old Bosch had quit working. This model cost over $1,000. After the new one was installed I cleaned out small installation items such as screws, etc. left in the new unit by the installers from Dick Van Dyke. Several months later the dish washer would not operate so I called Dick Van Dyke and a repairman arrived. He found a plastic washer used with screws stuck in the water hose connected to the dishwasher. I was charged for the repair since it was the water hose and told to sign the form stating I was satisfied with the repair- I signed and noted in writing that the signing was under protest as I believe the water hose was blocked due to the plastic washer left in the machine at the time of installation. Last Thurs. evening my new dishwasher started spewing water all over and flooded my kitchen and dining area. We disconnected the water hose but the machine would not turn off until four days later. Probably damaged the motor running that long. I am presently waiting on a repairman and no doubt they will again charge me and say it is the water hose!! Very, very unhappy with this company. read more

I would give this company ZERO stars if it were possible! We recently purchased a brand new washer and dryer from Dick Van Dyke (DVD) and paid over $2,000. Initially, we were extremely happy. However, as soon as we dealt with their service department we were beyond disappointed. We needed a dryer vent re-routed to a different location and were told that there would be a $35 service fee plus minimal labor. We also asked them to "flip flop" the washer and dryer since they were initially installed on the wrong sides (i.e. the dryer was installed on the right side despite the fact that the dryer vent was far to the left, and the washing machine was installed on the left side despite the fact that the drain was on the right side). So, the service rep shows up and I explain what we need him to do. He immediately responds with, "I need to call my manager to see how much to charge you." So, he calls the manager and we're told that we not only have to pay the $35 service fee, we would have to pay a minimum of $52 for EACH individual thing that he does. For instance, to reroute the dryer vent was a separate $52 charge, to flip flop the washer and dryer was a separate $52 charge (even though they installed them incorrectly), to change out one door to open in a different direction would be another $52 charge (I should point out that we were told the doors could be arranged to open whichever direction we wanted, but that is not true). So, even though the rep would have spent approximately 15 minutes at our house, we would have incurred almost $200 in charges, which was completely different from what we were informed prior to him coming to our house. So, we told the rep to leave and he was insistent on receiving his $35 service fee. We told him to take a hike. After receiving a bill from DVD, we explained our situation and they could not have cared less. The manager who dealt with the service rep refused to make things right, as all he cared about was getting the $35 fee. This company did not care to do the right thing and has no moral compass whatsoever. I recommend shopping elsewhere for all your appliance needs. read more

A technician came to diagnose my dryer on October 30, 2020 and I paid a $59 diagnostic fee. When I submitted the claim to my home warranty they said the diagnostic invoice was insufficient and I needed an itemized diagnostic which listed the cost of each part needed plus the cost of labor. When I called to get tan itemized invoice, no one could help me. I spoke with Amber 3-4 times and she kept saying she was going to contact the technician to get the information I needed and get back to me. She ended up sending me an invoice from a different repair. I notified her of her error, she still never returned my calls. I then called back and spoke with Angel, said she would get back to me once she spoke with the technician, still no call back. Then spoke with Melissa, same thing, no follow through. It's now been over 3 months and I still don't have the paperwork I need to submit to my home warranty and my dryer still isn't fixed. The lack of follow through by so many people in their customer service department is appalling. read more

They refused to return our previous stove, then took a week to replace it. Their customer service was rude and condescending the entire time. Bought a $1200 dishwasher and it kept giving us error messages. They sent techs out several times, nothing changed!

The refuse to let you talk to a store manager. A tech was out to diagnose my broken appliance, after waiting 48 hours I tried to get a hold of the tech to get a quote and was unsuccessful. I tried to call the office to get the quote and they stated only the tech can give the quote. When I asked to talk to a store manager they refused to let me. They told me he would not be able to help in any way. They told me that the tech is in the field and when he is done he gets to go home sometimes as early as 3:00. It's now going to be over 72 hours before I even get a quote, that is if he decides to call tomorrow. Then after they order the part, and get me on schedule I could literally be without my washer for over a week. Every single ad, every single commercial says they have the best customer service, when you can't find a tech after 3:00 and they refuse to let you talk to anybody of authority it's far from the best customer service, its far from even good customer service. Will not be back and I encourage you to read the other negative reviews on google, yelp, and other platforms so you can see how they truly treat customers that try to use their services. read more

I have purchased appliances with this company several times and vowed I would never go back. The service department call center (Brianna) was rude and not helpful. I had asked for a different repair man because the first one ruined my dryer and put a whole in the seal of my washing machine, not to mention the first time he was out he hooked the hot and cold up backwards. Each time the repair guy was here he left a tool behind. At this time, I will never buy another appliance from this company again. The sales experience was good. Very friendly and helpful people. The wheels fell off the bus immediately after I paid. I bought a gas stove and a matching hood. The installation of both the stove and hood was clear. The installer came and installed the stove. Said he couldn't install the hood and left. I called the store to complain. An hour or so later the guy is back but doesn't know how to install a hood. He calls another guy. Eventually the two of them installed the hood and left. The stove was not configured for LP gas. The flames are very yellow and excitingly tall. In the oven the flames touch the sides of the oven walls. Way too much flame. The LP parts come with the stove and are on the back of it. This is pretty basic Stove 101 type stuff. I call Dick Van Dyke and they tell me this "is s tricky situation" and I will have to pay for a service call and the conversion to LP. I guess my 10 year warranty covers everything except their mistakes. I am calling someone else to convert the stove. I will not buy from them again. read more

We bought a refrigerator about two weeks ago and love it , the only issue we had was the water filter when the guys put it in they pinched the o ring and water was all over the inside ,but we put a new one in and is all ok now , the biggest problem we had was the credit for the free financing , it was so miss leading by tower loans that they deal with , one tower loans don't take credit cards but take debit cards and charge you 5 dollars every time they use it , two they don't send a statement every month so your guessing when the payment is due and three when the appliance was delivered they were to set up all the payment plans and after they drop the refrigerator they took off fast , I wound not buy or even think about getting anything here ! read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE...EVERY! My husband and I purchased a floor model GE Dishwasher from the Champaign IL store. The salesman, Zach, was very helpful. We loaded the dishwasher, got it home, and discovered the wiring harness to hook it up was missing. We contacted the service department and scheduled a tech to come to our home for service. He was supposed to be here between 4&7 but did not show until 9pm. He was here for a half an hour only to tell us he did not have the wiring harness and it would have to be ordered. After he left, my husband turned the power back on to the outlet only to discover the tech left exposed wiring on the floor. Thank goodness there wasn't any water standing or someone would have been electrocuted. We called the service department again. My husband told them to overnight the wiring and he would hook it up himself. Service was unable to do this and told him he could pick up parts at the store. He drove back another 45 minutes, picked up parts, got home and still no wiring harness. We decided to return the dishwasher for a refund. We go to the store, get it unloaded and then the salesman tells us our original salesman is no longer with the company and it will take 2-5 days for a refund since the finance department was closed. No refund...no dishwasher. We fought with them for 2 weeks to be told we would not receive a refund. The store claimed we damaged the dishwasher even though we had fixed the dent and broken clip on outside knowing it was sold as is. If you buy something as is, it's for cosmetic issues not working order. DO NOT shop at Dick Van Dyke Appliamce World as they Do Not know how to make things right. read more

I went here to look for a part to repair my washing machine that was not working properly. I knew what part that i needed. When I got to the parts department the lady asked what I needed, when I told her she looked at me and asked "your going replace that by yourself?" Like I don't know what I am doing. I have been repairing appliances for over 10 years. I know what I am doing. I ignored the condisending attitude and asked how much they charge for this part. (It is $50-$60 online and at most part places that didn't have it instock) they wanted $78! I said that is way to much. The lady shrugged and said yup, that's what it is... So I feel that they need to train the parts lady how to interact with customers in a kind non-judgmental way. That and the extreme over pricing are why I give this establishment only 2 stars. read more

Dick Van Dyke radio commercial: Something along the lines of "my [insert appliance here] stopped working over the weekend and Dick Van Dyke came right out and fixed it." Reality: Our washing machine (purchased from DVD, still under their warrant/service plan) stopped working on a Sunday. We called DVD on Monday, couldn't get anyone out to our house until that Thursday. Tech comes out Thursday, identifies problem, we have to wait for a part for ANOTHER 3-5 days. Bought all new appliances in April this year, 2020. The dishwasher was delivered in May after being on backorder. It worked 4 or 5 times then it would quit after several minutes. Called them he came out said he fixed it great, well it wasn't. Still doing the same thing. Came back out, was running it and on the phone with GE and it quit ok great it will get fixed now. So GE sent 3 parts, waited over 3 weeks he came back out put in the parts it worked twice then did it again. Called them again another week goes by, been month and a half now, he came out. Well while he was here our power went out, he was talking to a tech line person of some sort at the time. When power came back on we only had about half power some things worked some didn't, come to find out it was a transformer and it was nearly the whole town we all had about half power. So instead of saying well when power gets restored we will come back out and test it again. Nope he said well you aren't getting enough voltage, mind you he never tested the voltage, so we recommend calling a electrician. And he left basically its our problem husband checked the voltage when power came back on it was right where it needs to be, technician said it was at half. Well yea it probably was at the time due to power issue and he wouldn't know that for sure because he never actually checked the voltage. So as of right now I'm waiting for a call back which hasn't came yet on how to proceed. We'll see if that call comes. read more

Customer Service Lacking On June 20th, 2019 the service technician came to my house because I had a thumping noise coming from my dryer. My husband was home when the service technician did not find anything wrong and did not hear the thumping(though it was happening the evening before the service call). When arrived home from work I noticed that the start button was pushed in. I called the service Department and left a message because it was after hours. No call back. I finally got around to calling back a couple weeks later and they sent the technician out. He said the button was not like that when he left. I told the service department that I called the same night and they said they had no record of it. They said they would have a record of it if I had called and left a message. The front of the dryer is clearly not on correctly either. I paid $45 for the initial service call where the technician could not find the "thumping noise". But now I have a broken button, a front that is clearly not on correctly which causes me to have to wiggle and giggle the buttons to turn on the dryer and start the cycle. The customer service department has clearly gone downhill. The receptionist even said something to the effect of "we're not saying you're lying or anything" but we have no record of the call. Really. What exactly are you saying. I am not sure if the management of the Service Department has changed over the years or if it is just after your warranty ends that the Customer Service becomes sub par. read more

Nightmare experience. I went the DVD because they advertise they are better than the "BIG BOX STORES". No they are not. I wanted a new apartment size dishwasher installed in a bare cabinet space. I told my salesman I did not know if there had ever been a dishwasher there. All he was concerned about was making the sale, not what I needed to have the dishwasher actually in my home I was selling and operating. I told him I needed this done by closing. The dishwash was ordered and came in quickly, the INSTALLERS showed up with the appliance but could not hook it up because there was no water to the space it was going in to. So I called a plumber and he came and ran the water/drain. I called DVD again, INSTALLER came back. This different INSTALLER said there was no electricity to the unit. (The first INSTALLER did not tell me that). So I call an electrician. He gets the electricity hooked up. DVD INSTALLER again comes back. The unit will not turn on, the INSTALLER says the electrician did something wrong. Electrician comes back, tests the line with another electrical appliance and the line DOES work. Call DVD again, this time they are going to send out a TECHNICIAN. Magically somehow when he turns the machine on it works. I never got the whole story on that visit as the woman who bought my home had already moved into the home and she had to take time off to be there for DVD again. I had already moved out of the home so I had to take time off work every time I had to run back to my house during this whole fiasco. So I did fill out there survey when they sent it to me asking for my opinion. I explained what happened and why I went to DVD because I thought they would fix me up correctly from the start. Today I got a condescending response in text form with no name attached. The response was- "we apologize for any miscommunication that MAY have occurred during your recent purchase. The delivery guidelines your received at the time of purchase do state "Our Delivery Installers are properly trained to do standard delivery, hook -up and minor installations, however they are not CARPENTERS, PLUMBERS, ELECTRICIANS, OR HVAC TECHNICIAN: so if you feel there are any unusual circumstances about your delivery or hook-up, please let us know so we can avoid any inconvenience or misunderstanding. We appreciate your patronage and look forward to exceeding your expectations in the future. Well I guess this is a standard cut and paste answer. I already did let them know there were unusual circumstances about my delivery and hook up. I also am not a CARPENTER, PLUMBER, ELECTRICIAN OR HVAC TECHNICIAN that is why I went to a store that says they are so much better than everyone else. I needed from the get-go for someone to say "hey- did you look inside the cabinet to see if there is an outlet or what looks like water line? A hole in the side of the cabinet with wires or pipes running through it? If not, here is what you are going to need to do...." I told the salesman it was just an open cabinet I measured and looks as if an apartment size dishwasher would work there but to my knowledge since owning the home 3 years there had never been one there. I utilized this place for a repair to my oven, it had been taking ages to heat up and then it just quit all together. In my mind I set a threshold for whether to repair or buy new. I phoned and was able to secure an appointment the next day! I was thrilled! They said repairmen set their own schedule so I would be contacted about the window. I was notified the next morning that my window was 12-3 I think. The repair man called about 10 min ahead of coming right in that window at 1:15 or so. He arrived and was very courteous. He was even nice to my very excited to see visitors dog! He asked what the issue was to confirm and then got right to work. He quickly diagnosed the issue, provided the estimate, and indicated he had the parts and could repair it on the spot. He had a trainee with him also. They spoke in low voices while I was in the next room. I felt this was polite as not to interrupt me. I was thrilled with the repair which he said has a 90 day and warranty! That's awesome! Now I saw Yelp only have 2-stars so I was a little worried but our Next Door neighborhood app has had tons of positive experiences posted for repairs. So lesson - the stars listed may not reflect accurately. I didn't dig in to the yelp reviews to see what the issue was like if it was the selling of new appliance or repairs or how old they were, that sometimes tells you a lot. read more

Our sales person, Mr. Butler, also helped us buy a washer dryer set 5 years ago. He is a real straight shooter. He gets us the best value for our needs and didn't try to upsell us on something that wasn't right for us. With the 5/10 year protection plan we don't anticipate needing another appliance very soon but if we do we will be asking for him by name. Delivery of the stove by Kyle was very prompt. Usually delivery gives you a 6 hour window and then doesn't show up until the end of the window. I was very surprised when Kyle was there at the beginning. He got right to it and had installation done in no time. I was able to cook lunch on the new stove. He made sure I knee how to operate everything before he left. I went to buy a plastic snap-in handle for my Amana dryer. First, the parts person would not ring up the sale and take cash unless I gave him an email and home address. He said company policy would not allow him to take cash without personal information. After giving the info, he said that will be $44.dollars. I about fainted, as the part lists online for $8. I figured it would cost more in-store, but that is some serious price gouging. Would not trust a store that marks a $4 whole sale part up to $44 read more

I should have read the reviews instead of listening to the radio ads. These people suck. Called to have fridge looked at. Called on a Thursday. Couldn't get anyone before Tuesday. Took a Friday am appointment and took off work for it. Called at 11am and they told me between 3-5pm! Could get a supervisor on the phone as the customer service people are not allowed to put customers thru to them "because they are busy with other things" Remodeling the kitchen. Buying all new appliances. $8-10K worth. WILL NOT BE BUYING FROM THEM! Call someone else for repair. read more

Dick Van Dyke came out to repair our dishwasher because the bottom coil appeared to have burnt out. They quoted us a repair price of $149. We considered buying a new one -- and they even gave us a $25 off coupon for a new dishwasher -- which I thought was a little odd. (Suspicious event #1) We chose to repair our old one and had them ordered the part. When the technician came to replace the part, I left him alone for awhile in the kitchen. About 15 minutes later, he came out to the living room to tell me there was a hole melted in the tub and the entire tub would need to be replaced. I called my husband and texted him a picture of the hole to see if he remembered seeing a hole. He didn't. To me, standing at a distance, the hole was very obvious. But it looked chipped and rough rather than melted to me. I asked him what caused the hole and he said probably a piece from the coil. I asked him where the piece was...and why he didn't notice the hole on first inspection. First, he said the coil was probably blocking the hole, so I asked him to place the old coil back in, which he did. The whole was still quite obvious. Then he said the dish rack was probably in the way. I called my husband who said he remembered the guy pulling out the rack. The tech said, well, I didn't take it completely out, just pulled it out. When we pulled the rack out and the hole was still quite obvious. (Suspicious event #2) Then, I recalled the last time they repaired our ice maker, it took four visits and a few hundred dollars because the tech kept "finding" broken pieces that needed to be replaced. (Suspicious event #3) Unfortunately, by the time we realized how expensive the ice maker repair would be, we were in too deep to back out. Fortunately, this time I caught on after only the one $35 service call. So, I refused to pay for this service call and sent the tech on his way with the part. Either their repair techs are incompetent or they're scam artists. Either way, I don't want to do business with them. I'm still waiting to see if anyone calls me to follow up on this issue. read more

Similar to the other comments service and parts department lack basic skills like order tracking and follow up. The techs are professional and nice but are unable to correctly diagnose issues. This results in a "shotgun" approach to repairs, multiple visits and purchasing/replacement of parts not needed. I will actively persuade individuals to find someone else. 0/10 read more

Dick doesn't stand behind their repair work. They are willing to lose customers over $39! After a failed repair attempt and 2 follow-up visits, Dick wants me to pay another service call fee because of an arbitrary 30 day policy. Really, I already paid for a service call and for a repair that fixed nothing!. Their commercials are BS as well. Update: Had a different repair service out. They were able to correctly diagnose and fix my problem in only a few minutes! Dick still wants their $39! Dick doesn't value their customers, don't be a Dick. Update #2 Finally talked to someone with a logical mind. They agreed to waive the latest $39 charge. I am still out over $100 to them for an unnecessary repair. Changing to 2 stars because of the customer service lead. read more

Our washer was leaking and water went through the floor into the finished basement. We called Dick Van Dyke to repair. They came the next day, which was great, but they couldn't find the leak. They suggested we just not use the cycle (cleaning cycle) that caused it to leak. The repairman left and I ran a load of wash and within 15 minutes it was leaking. We called Dick Van Dyke immediately and they said they couldn't get someone out for 3 or 4 days. They also suggested we start running the washer before they come back out so it would start leaking again before they got here! The last thing I wanted was more water on the floor! We called Sears and they came the next day, found the problem and ordered the part to repair it. We haven't had any issues since. I called Dick Van Dyke to complain about their service. I felt like we should get a refund because their repairman should have found the issue. They refused. I think Sears was a little more expensive but they have competent repair people that know how to fix appliances so well worth it! read more

We had Dick Van Dyke over to repair our washing machine. The technician left the sensor unplugged that detects when the washing machine is full and the result is that the machine flooded and caused $15,000 damage to our home. read more
