Ribs and fries AFTER I demolished half of them!
    J B.

Okay! Now I'm finally impressed! You guys have stepped up your game! I was worried at first! I gave you guys another chance and WOW! The ribs are literally falling off the bone! All y'all kin folks without teeth can eat this! The meat is just that tender! When this location first opened up It was horrible. The ribs use to require teeth, fork, knife, chainsaw, and my pit bull dog Rufus to eat it! Now it's delicious! I don't know what you did differently but keep doing it! I actually love it better than the competition across the street (I'm not about to start a war dropping names). Just keep doing what new thing you doing. Not the old thing but the new thing...I think you get my drift. Overall Baked beans: great Ribs: Ooooweeee gooood! No teeth required! Rolls: they all went to my hips! Great! Coleslaw: umm... okay... could use a little "spiffing up" but still good I will try the chicken next time There you have it folks! My honest review! Goodbye!

We came around 8 minutes before closing. The staff was still amazing and the food was delicious. Best BBQ around and free ice cream!

This was a return visit after years away -- back when I was working in the Jackson area, Sonny's was a go-to. I'm happy to report it still delivers. We walked in on a recent Saturday to a cordial greeting and a 15-minute wait for seating -- reasonable for a weekend lunch crowd. The order was taken promptly, though the food took a bit longer than expected to arrive. Faster service would have been appreciated, but as I'll explain, the sandwich more than made up for the wait. The food is the story here. We are serious brisket people. We're talking 13-hour smokes at home for friends and family -- so we don't impress easily. We ordered the chopped brisket meal with fries, and I'll say this: it holds its own. The brisket arrived hot, tender, and with a genuine smokiness that didn't tip into overdone. That's a line a lot of BBQ joints cross. Sonny's doesn't. The portion is generous on your choice of bread, and the garlic bread is a smart touch -- it adds just the right savory contrast to the sweet. Speaking of sweet, Sonny's house BBQ sauce is, in my opinion, one of the best in the game. Bold claim, but I stand by it. The sweet tea was exactly what sweet tea should be in Mississippi -- strong, cold, and uncompromising. No notes. The atmosphere is exactly what you want from a BBQ joint: relaxed, comfortable, unpretentious. Good value for what you get. Brisket sandwich: 8/10. It satisfied a craving that had been building for years, and that's not nothing. We'll be back the next time we're passing through the area -- and honestly, it might become a reason to pass through the area. Pro tip: Go in without a time crunch. The food's worth the wait, but patience helps.

This little place is tucked away off Lakeland Drive, down from Schlotzsky's in that little white shopping center. Blink twice and you'll miss it...and that'd be a crying shame. First things first...that Smash Burger. Son...I about slapped myself just to make sure I wasn't dreaming! I'm telling y'all right now, it's the best smash burger I've ever put in my mouth, and I ain't taking that statement back. Now let's discuss these Trashed Ribs. Sweet baby Jesus riding a smokehouse...WHOEVER came up with these deserves a parade! They are so doggone good they'll make you want to hug the pitmaster. The baked beans? Mercy! If Grandma made beans this good, half the family would've never left home. Best baked beans I've ever eaten, and that's saying something because I've been eating my way across Mississippi for a long time. Now I'll admit, I'm a mustard potato salad fella. Always have been. But even though theirs isn't my usual style, I'd eat a five-gallon bucket of it without apologizing to anybody. The brisket sandwich? Lawd have mercy! Tender enough you don't hardly need teeth. And that Brisket Philly Cheesesteak? If you order it, don't make plans afterward because you're gonna need a nap and probably a testimony. The folks working there couldn't be nicer if they tried. The waitress treats you like you've been neighbors for twenty years, keeps your drink full, and makes you feel right at home. That's the kind of Southern hospitality folks are always talking about. So quit fooling around with the same ol' drive-thrus and chain restaurants. Gas up the truck, tell your wife you're "running an errand," and head over there. Your stomach will be happier than a tick on a hound dog. Y'all can thank me later...but don't tell too many people. I'd still like to find a parking spot!

What made the situation worse was watching other customers, who were seated after me and even those who walked in after I arrived, be greeted and fully serviced while I was completely ignored. As someone who has visited this establishment multiple times, this experience was not only frustrating but unacceptable. No customer should feel invisible, especially in a place they've supported before. To be very clear, I was also the only Black woman present at the time--and that did not go unnoticed. It is 2026. We should be far beyond experiences that make people question whether they are being treated differently. Because of this experience, I will not be returning. I truly hope management takes a serious look at their service standards and how all guests are treated.

We usually frequent the Reservoir location on Old Fannin, but we decided to try Brandon today. The dining room is much different but feels cleaner. The service was definitely different here. Our waiter was great especially since they were so busy on the opening week of crawfish season. Lots of draft beer to choose from you can even get a bucket of White Claw now.

It was only him and another guy. By the time I left, 3 other tables had been seated. He was very kind and attentive. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich sans the bun, steamed broccoli and a side salad with blue cheese dressing. The side salad was good. Fresh and crisp. Blue cheese dressing is mediocre considering it is house made. The kitchen took FOREVER and there were only 2 other tables. The plate looked good. Fresh broccoli steamed perfectly. The chicken looked great, at a glance. A big pile of ham with melted cheese. That chicken was the toughest and driest piece of meat ever. I could barely cut it with my butter knife. I'm sure I looked like a cow chewing it. I made it work because I needed to get home and basically I'm trying to nourish my body while eating somewhat healthy. I'm trying to figure out why it took so long to get my food. That chicken was cooked entirely too much. What were they doing during the 30 minutes? $23 for that plate with a tea. Stupid. The last couple of times we have eaten here it is not been great. I'm not sure. I will be back anytime soon.
