I wasn't really in the mood for barbecue, but circumstances dictated that we eat something within walking distance of our hotel, so we found ourselves at Dickey's. My tastebuds pretty quickly rearranged themselves for BBQ once we walked in and could smell the food. I immediately became hungrier. I ordered the Brisket Mac Stack, which was brisket on top of macaroni and cheese. It doesn't come with any sides, but you don't need any because this meal is plenty on its own. I loved it! I liked it better with some BBQ sauce on top, which you have to ask for separate. This meal was fantastic and I would definitely order it again. Some other people at my table ordered meals that came with rolls, which I sampled. This is perhaps the one area they would improve on, which was the general consensus at the table. Although they were topped with honey and butter, they just weren't that great. We had a long day, so we couldn't leave without ordering dessert. They were out of cookies so we ordered blondie brownies. Glad we only ordered 2 for the 4 of us, because they were plenty big. They were part regular brownie and part blondie which I didn't expect but maybe should have. We warmed ours in the microwave at the hotel which made them A-MAZ-ING. Overall, I recommend! read more

The service is abysmal. The staff have apparently had no training in the hospitality industry. The food is average, at best. The only beverages, from a machine were watered down 1 part soda with three parts water. It is basically a shed with patio furniture. My recommendation is to seek a more reputable establishment. read more

The Whole Staff to include the Manager could use some customer service skills and friendlyness schooling, they all acted as if the where unhappy to be there The main issue was I called in my order and I asked for Fried Okra as one of my sides and I told them over the phone that I wanted the Okra fried Super Crispy as in very hard ( I'm a Texan and That's the why I like It ) I was told ok but when we walked over there ( we where staying at La Quinta next Door ) I told them again to make sure the Okra was Crispy, I looked at the Okra and it was barely fried so I asked them to fry it more and the girl said that if they fried it more it would only get soggy ( really?) I said no it wouldn't and please fry it more and she said that she could not take that order back but would fry me more, I waited and I watched her drop in a new batch ( 1 order) and the girl frying them keep lifting the fry basket up and checking it, she hardly let it cook at all and then brought that one to me and it was in no way crispy so I said please I am asking you to make my Okra Crispy and the girl in the back immediately dropped another batch so I asked for the Manager and she came up front and told me that their Fryers were not getting hot enough and they have been frying all day so the Okra would never get crispy, I told her it would if you would stop dropping in new cold batches ever time and just fry the one I ordered longer and stop barely cooking it. She said no our fryer will not get hot enough so I said you know I called this order in and all you had to do is say that you could not cook my order they way I asked and I would have order something different. She ( the Manager yelled to cooks in back " No more Fried Foods". ) Then asked what else I wanted and I said well I guess I will take the potato salad and the first girl dropped a container of the potato salad on the counter and walked away as did the Manager. So I say to Dickeys this is Terrible Customer Service in Your Name and the next time if ever I go through Gallup, NM I won't be going to the Dickey BBQ next to the La Quinta Hotel and advice others to be prepared for Terrible Customer Service if you go there. Receipt # 1736-579-20774 on 11 July 2021 says cashier Adam but I dealt with young girls and FYI I got the wrong info on my receipt too I ordered 2 two meat plates (ribs, kielbasa and brisket) 1 w/ bbq beans, potato salad and the other green beans and fried okra and when we arrive we added a unsweet tea ( large yellow cup that was black) and a blondie brownie and add a med sweet corn. This receipt says chicken breast and 4 lays chips ( not even close). As I am writing this review about an hour after eating this, I got stomach cramping and now diarrhea, as a Traveler and my first visit to a Dickey's I just want to say Thanks Dickey's for a Awful Experience. Winding our way from Lubbock, Tx Back home to Oregon, Gallup, NM is about as far as we get on our first day. The La Quinta affords our two pups a nice respite from the back seat and we avoid pet fees at the motel. Dickies is right next door so.... We were pleasantly surprised at the fit and finish of this bbq "joint". Now clean and free of the old time funkiness of past days, it's a pleasant place to sit and enjoy a fine bbq dinner or lunch. Brisket, sausage, ribs, corn on the cob and more of the traditional favorites are done right and not on pricey. We'd come back if we didn't live over 1,000 miles away! Good service and nice crew. Comfortable ambiance. Ok food. Tried the pulled pork plate and found about half of it to be dried out and overcooked. Found a lot of it to be very tough and burnt. Coleslaw was pretty good, as was the bread. BBQ beans were not terribly impressive. Not much bacon in the beans. read more

Wow! What a terrific find - we found ourselves stranded for 4 days while our disabled vehicle awaited parts. Near our hotel, we found a Dickey's so we cautiously decided to try the food. The pulled pork and chicken sandwich combos were both terrific. The meat was tender and delicious. The side options were numerous and equally delicious. I've had better BBQ at a different Dickey's and the other location was a solid 5. The portions are substantial although the quality wasn't as good. Brisket was slightly dry but still yummy. Not my usual four star rated place but we've been driving for ten hours and I walked here from our hotel. That being said the food hit the spot. I had a two meat plate; ribs and chicken. My wife had a chicken sandwich. The ribs were moist and meaty the chicken was decent. Potato casserole is mashed potatoes with bits of meat and peppers added. Cole slaw was good. To borrow a phrase; if the #1 rated Yelp restaurant in your town is a nationally franchised BBQ joint, you might be a redneck. Kidding aside, it was pretty good. I had the two meat plate, brisket and ribs with Mac and potato salad. The meat portions were small but tasty. Not a big fan of BBQ sauce, especially sweet sauce, but the maple sauce on the ribs was very good. The brisket was very good as well with nice flavor and juiciness (close to being a bit dry but not quite there). The sides were respectable but that's about it. Looks like this place is slipping. Along with having average food, staff are rude. My party was looking at the menu when one of the chefs instructed us to "put the mask over your nose." Thought we would try this one out while on vacation. Hoped it would be better than the one at home. NOT. Brisket was dry had to wash it down with water. They trim almost all the fat off it before they smoke it. You can't do that or it will be dry. No smoke ring on the turkey. My wife's chicken was a pale gray color. What's that about? Should have taken a picture of that. Dickies quality and portion size has gone down drastically over the past couple years but their prices keep going up. I'm done with Dickies. read more

The taco is definitely not worth the money. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone looking for a decent taco. It is just a tortilla, some meat and a half slice of cheese. Some of the pictures online made the taco look good. The real deal is a waste. I at least thought it would have some cole slaw on it... totally disappointing. I also wanted a Cesar salad but they said they were out. Not surprised, as 3 other restaurants in the area said no to salads even though it's on their menu. Some of the best barbecue I've had. I enjoyed the 2-meat plate with brisket and pork ribs. The brisket was very tender with little fat and the pork ribs thick and juicy. Even my sides were very good and seemed homemade- potato salad and barbecue beans. The prices were very fair given the cost of food today. Only would have been better if they served beer. If I lived in the area Dickey's would be my go to barbecue restaurant. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would! I think they depend on passerby traffic, but I'm a New Mexican! We ordered a 3 meat plate and were given 3 slices of brisket and 5 slices of sausage. It is $16-17. My husband went in and said something and they said "that's what you get, we weigh it" there wasn't even 2oz of meat. They were so rude, would t help us. They would not give us a refund so my husband explained spoke with the manager. Finally, they said it should be 1/2 a lb, they weighed it and it was only 4oz... Beef was so so dry, almost like eating beef jerky. the food is very salty. This place has gotten worst and food is gross. Don't come here, you'll waste your money. We had to turn back 2 times because first, they forgot our bread and then secondly, they forgot our sauces. The manager reached out apologizing saying he'd refund me which never happened. Ordered two one piece meat meals. Sides we VERY salty, onion rings, green beans and fried oakra. Brisket fatty only slightly warm and the turkey not at all. 2nd time eating at this location food is delicious but the customer service is better during the day time. The sign says they are open until 9pm but they took the BBQ and the teas at 8pm. They didn't greet us. She had a attitude. My Husband had a question about the 3 meats asking what kind of meats and she said any meats wasn't specific on what meat.
