I enjoyed the huevos rancheros breakfast in green chili salsa at El Rancho. While dining at El Rancho, we met a group visiting from Wales, UK in the U.S. for the World Cup turns out Josh Thomas is a professional Rugby Player in Wales they were so nice. The service was great. It looked like it had been sitting out for awhile, but tasted ok. Queso was good. Salsa was decent. Chips were good but I had more tiny broken pieces than actual dip worthy chips. For dinner I chose the Rita Moreno with chicken, no sour cream and no beans. I got it "Christmas style" so I could try both green and red sauces. When it was brought to me the plate had beans on it and the enchiladas weren't even hot - they were barely warm. The cheese garnish on top was barely melted. I started with the red side. The sauce was very spicy (I love spice so no big deal for me). I wasn't a big fan of the flavor so I switched to the green side. The sauce had a decent amount of spice but way more flavorful IMO. The tiny rice scoop was decent, but again, all this food was barely warm. The waiter came by once to say sorry about the beans but a random hotel/restaurant guest that was muttering something incoherently prevented me from being able to get a refill of my soda. By the time the waiter checked in again I was over it and asked for my check. I guess I could say the appetiser met expectation but would have been much better had the guac been made to order. With all the hype this place got I expected more. There is a bar and a gift shop connected to it and a historic hotel where apparently come famous people stayed long ago. Since I'm not staying there and was there only for dinner I would have rather had a better meal experience and less hype. My advice is to keep looking unless you have it as a stop on your bucket/checklist.

My dad loved the bourbon Street chicken, served on a platter similar to fajitas. We had a great experience at this Applebee's. The interior is nice, with art pleasant to the eyes. All in all, I would come back again if I were in the area on a road trip or stopping through town.

When I brought it out, my husband thought it was beef at first because of how mild it tasted. The portions are huge. HUGE! One taco was seriously the size of a medium pizza and somehow we still finished it. If you're taking it to go like we did, eat it within 5 to 10 minutes so it doesn't get soggy. They also have free broth and honey inside which was such a nice touch and made it even better. Dipping the fry bread in the broth was a nice touch. Like a lighter consomé. Try it with the honey, too! We did with the remaining fry bread as a bit of a dessert. The best part though was the woman working there. She was so kind, answered all my questions, explained everything, and even gave me a magazine about Gallup. If you want something authentic and filling, definitely stop here.

Okay, so this place is literally across a parking lot from my hotel and I don't have a vehicle currently. So, convenience breeds opportunity. First impression: When you first walk in, it's usually pretty empty. Not much to do about that when the restaurant is sort of out of the way. It's clean with open seating and you're not packed in like sardines. There's a big menu displayed above the counter. A bright yellow background with black writing and various pictures. Everything looks appetizing. Service: I've only been there three times within a week, but every visit has been wonderful. The staff are friendly and inviting. The owner, or who I believe is the owner, is always smiling and pleasant to speak to. You don't feel rushed when ordering. Everyone just goes at your pace. If you're eating in, they'll hand you a little table marker and you can take your seat. When the food is ready, they'll bring it out to you so it's nice and hot. Food: So, like I said, I've been three times within a week so far. The first two visits I opted for The Giant. The pulled pork was so juicy and delicious. Mixed with the potato and the BBQ sauce, it's a hearty meal. My third visit was this evening. I decided to mix it up this time. The three meat plate with brisket, chicken breast, and ribs with two sides. The mac and cheese and the fries. Everything was amazing. The brisket was juicy and savory. The ribs had little to no fat and were falling off the bone. The chicken breast was smoked to perfection, but the sides stood out in their own way. The mac and cheese was so creamy and wonderful and the waffle fries were the perfect combination of crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Conclusion: The prices aren't the most budget friendly for a family meal, but nothing is with prices where they are. Is it worth a trip? Absolutely. I'm probably going back at least one more time before I leave New Mexico. read more

Very shady establishment. Menu in restaurant has prices clearly stated and published. When you get charged prices are higher. When I questioned the girl about the price difference she gave me some lip service about "they don't make the prices" that come up in the computer. I asked for my $5 overcharge and she only gave me $3 and told me I could complain to Dickeys if I didn't like it. I said to her just change the menu price but she refused. Classic bait and switch! Not to mention I stood there 18 minutes before my order was taken only to find out they're out of most everything on the menu. read more

While on a cross country road trip, we stopped for the night at a nearby hotel and walked to the Dickey's Barbecue to have an early dinner. We were very pleasantly surprised by the selection of menu options available, but narrowed our choices down to the pulled pork combo (#3) and the brisket combo (#4). Both were delicious, with an ample side and large beverage included. Both the quality and quantity of the food was an excellent value (less then $30, including a desert brownie), as well as fulfilling. The dining area was clean, spacious and had a pleasant decor. They were very friendly and walked us through the changes to the menu. We ordered a brisket combo and a two-meat plate. The chicken, sausage and brisket were all delicious. Saw this Dickeys as we got off the highway to get some gas. We filled our tank and then went over to Dickeys for some food. We were greeted by the employees as we came in. The store smelled great. I was so glad to find a Dickey's in Gallup after driving all day. I was in the mood for some filling BBQ and they didn't disappoint. The meat was hot, fresh and juicy. Dickeys has such great BBQ, we try to drop in at least a couple of times a month. The employees are great and very friendly. I love their baked potato with brisket.
