Miss Texas BBQ this is a great place to go however this is not a speedy process. We have always gone to another BBQ place however it's a little far from my house so we decided to give this place a shot. We did a pick-up order almost decided not to because like all the reviews the online ordering does not work nor Calling. I spent some time calling hanging up and calling again no answer. When my husband and daughter picked up the order was correct however they were out of a lot of sides and bbq sauces. I think they were not ready for the success of the business however it will slow if they can't keep up with demand. The most important is the food and it was delicious. Even with the two of the three bbq sauces were out the sweet bbq was AMAZING! We ordered the 2 meat family meal and had the brisket and pulled pork. The loaded potatoes were amazing highly recommend. Note to management: Ple work on getting your online ordering up and at least phone ordering services. So online ordering is up and running!!! Danny is the owner and is amazing and genuinely cares about his guests. Got to try the Mac n cheese today and it did not disappoint. My friend and I have been itching to go to this place since it first opened, we finally made it a date and came here today and I must say it wasn't as amazing as I thought it'd be. The food was expensive considering the small portions they give ($34.03 for two plates and two drinks) I had the two meat plate, chicken and brisket with Mac and cheese and creamed spinach for $13.25 and my friend had the rib plate with mashed potatoes and green beans for $14.25. The chicken was good but I literally only had like 6 small slices, and my brisket was a bit burnt and didn't have much flavor. The sides were probably the best part about the whole meal. Overall the place was okay, but it'll probably be a while before I come back. Personally, I think the bbq from Tin Hut BBQ is better. read more

From the conversational employees (with each other) that could not see us standing in line to the minuscule portions for a two meat plate, this was our first and last visit. Whenever a new southern bbq place opens up I HAVE to check it out. So I trekked over to Kapolei with my boyfriend in search of tender juicy brisket and melt off the bones ribs. When we got there we both agreed that we weren't hungry enough to really appreciate all the food available so we hung out at Kamakana Alii for a couple of hours to give our bellies enough time to grumble. Then we headed over as we realized I was staring to get hangry! When we finally made it over the line was out the door! I think it took about 20ish minutes to get tot he front of the line. The first person took out meat order then we scooted over to put in our sides order. Drinks were available off to the side of the restaurant along with bbq sauce (original, spicy, and sweet)and picked and onions. It was hot inside and they had some large fans to help keep the air flowing but we decided to sit outside. There's a special this month of all you can eat ribs for $20 but my boyfriend and I wanted to sample as much as we could so we ordered a half rack of ribs, half lb of brisket, and half lb of pulled pork. We added 2 buttered rolls, small sides of jalapeño beans, cole slaw, and fried okra. So as far as food goes Dickies was alright. The ribs were the best in flavor and they were tender. The pulled pork was good too. Unfortunately the brisket was very dry. Good thing we had a lot of bbq sauce to drown it in. I've patronized this place many times but today I'm very disappointed in customer service. We ordered two plates one BBQ pork sandwich and one Brisket sandwich to go. Unfortunately, when we got to our location which was far from the restaurant we realized we had an incorrect order. I called the restaurant and the person I spoke to had to call her general manager who would only correct the problem with our order if we drove all the way back there and returned the food. We spent over $40 on a plate of pork with one piece of toast a small cup of beans and a small potato salad. And one plate of brisket with one piece of toast with small sides. I ORDERED SANDWICHES!!! Danny the general manager was unwilling to offer a remake next time we visit or credit of any kind unless I drove all the way back and returned the food. It's not our fault they messed up!!! Long line. Slow moving staff. I watched the lady that slowly carving the meat pull all the fat from the pork lay it on the table then grab the smallest amount of meat and chop it all up and put it into a pulled pork sandwich and give it to a customer. This is unacceptable. The entire time this is happening there are flies landing on the meat and swarming the kitchen. They don't make their beens The have huge cans they open and then warm up. I don't think this place has ac. One of the larger employees is literally dripping in sweat. Like he just ran a marathon. My wife stood in line for 40 minutes and when she got up to the counter left because it just didn't look safe to eat there. The soda machine is out of most flavors. I ordered a two meat plate just to sample what they had. One portion of meat was far bigger than the other. Like ridiculously different. The meats were flavorful but the turkey seems extremely undercooked and almost slimy. The coleslaw was terrible. The Mac and cheese was disgusting. This place would have no business if this were the mainland. Overall I didn't see anything worth returning here for. Very disappointed with the way these people handle food. Had lunch at this place and it was very good. My husband and I shared a 2 choice plate, ribs and brisket. Was very good the ribs was fall off the bone and the brisket was so tender. Came with 2 sides we chose waffle fries and potato salad we wanted the cold slaw but they ran out. I don't like ribs with alot of sauce smothering it but this is good you can choose your own sauce at the dispenser located at their counter area mild, spicy you control the sauce. Yes lots of people mentioned try to go early because they're limited seating inside and some of the food might be sold out. I would go again. read more

My wife and I love barbecue. I'd say we have eaten our fair shake of good and sadly bad bbq joints. She likes more of the sweet stuff (Lucille's in California) and I like a little less sweet and more of the other stuff (Phil's in San Diego) We saw this place open up next to Jersey Mike's (a sub place way better than Subway) and across the way from Walmart. We came to eat here when day after shopping at Walmart after craving some great tasting barbecue. This place looked awesome. We've never been to a Dickey's in the mainland but I was digging the design and feel of the place. Ordering was easy enough. The food was delicious. Juicy and flavorful. When they first opened, the food was amazing!! We were going every week for the family meal. The flavor and cost were spot on but now, it has gone down hill. I even had the cashier illegally add $5 to my bill and thankfully caught her but l'm sure she has done that to others. The cost has gone up but the quality went way down. I give this place 3 out of 5 stars for Hawaii. It's not the best but I wasn't upset at the meal. A two meat plate with a bread roll and 2 s9des is only $13.25. At first I thought the portions were kind of small but when you start digging into the meat it's actually a nice amount of food. I wanted the pork ribs and brisket (sliced or chopped) but they ran out of ribs so did a double portion of sliced brisket. The workers even checked up on us and apologized for that. The Briskett - it wasnt the most tender. Actually it was kind of chewy but I got pockets of tender meat. However the flavor was pretty good. Fatty juicy meat that seemed slightly underdone but still good none the less. They have a choice of sauces on the side. Original, sweet and spicy. I chose sweet and it was good. Not overly sweet like those bottled sauces. Ive had the Briskett at hughleys and this was by far a superior flavor and quality Sides - I got mac and cheese and bbq beans. The beans we're a standard sweet baked beans but their mac and cheese was terrible. It tasted like chalky plain mushy noodles with no flacor and no seasoning. I tried the jalapeno beans which tasted like chili. Others got baked potato casserole, creamed spinach and fried onions strings. They seemed satisfied with those as well. They have pecan pie by the slice and single chocolate chip cookies. They were good. Not overly sweet like most dessert but a good ending to a good meal. Lastly when you order a drink they give u a hard plastic yellow cup. Meaning you could take it home and I'm not sure what their policy is but you could just reuse this cup for your next visit ? Don't quote me. Over all for my meal and a drink it rougly comes out to 16 dollars which is not a steep price for a meal and it wasnt half bad. I grew up in the area where Dickey's is from so have been eating from them for decades. I've had good experiences at this location. My orders, all placed online, have always been correct and I've never received any dry meat, even late in the day. Brisket, this being a Texas BBQ chain, is the highlight. There's always a good crust and good smoke on it here. I also enjoy the ribs and both types of sausage. Prices, relative to location, and portions are reasonable from my experience. A tip - elect for the corn bread and Carolina-style BBQ sauce, both good deviations away from the standard menu items (of classic BBQ sauce and the yeast roll). read more

It was national BBQ Day and we decided to try Dickey's for the first time and was disappointed. The employee that answered the phone coughed continuously throughout the call while I placed the order and didn't even apologize. We ordered the Cueban sandwich plate with coleslaw and beans, and two slider sandwiches, turkey and brisket with coleslaw and waffle fries. Let me tell you when we opened the box and saw the sliders, we were very surprised. Both sliders had no toppings. The turkey had two thin pieces of meat on it and it didn't even have a smoked flavor. The brisket was dry and had burnt pieces on it. The picture on their menu of a slider shows pickles and onions on top. The Cueban sandwich plate was $14.99. Each slider was over $3.00 each and side of coleslaw was $3.85, not sure what the fries cost. The coleslaw had no flavor and the beans okay. For just over $28.00 it was very pricey for a disappointing lunch. We won't be back anytime soon. read more

I don't usually give 5 stars but it's nice to finally have Texas BBQ in Hawaii. Some of the other reviews with low stars were based on the overwhelming crowds when they probably first opened. We waited a couple weeks and while it still had a good crowd it was a good experience. Plenty of sauces and plenty of seating. Being from Texas, there is no place here that compares. Good value, good meats, fast service, and good sweet tea. Kids meals are only $5.50 and include a meat, side, roll and drink which is great for our kids. We had brisket, pulled pork, and turkey and all were good. They should really put one in Mililani, no doubt the local and military crowd would keep business well there! read more

Honestly, I'm disappointed. This is my first and only review. I never leave reviews. But the fact that not only half of the employees weren't wearing their masks correctly while preparing the food. I wasn't told when my order was ready. It was just placed off to the side by the register. I wasn't sure if it was mine or not because other customers were just picking up and going. I waited patiently for another 5 minutes until one of employees got off their phones and finally saw me. They just gave the order and I went on my way. When I got home I finally realized that they forgot a whole meal plate and to top it all off, all the rest of the food was cold to the touch. I'm not entitled. I just feel like it could've just been a little better. From calling the orders out to customers when their order is ready. Making sure everything is within the order. I like the place. I had the beef brisket,jalapeno cheese kielbasa, mac & cheese, coleslaw this visit. The food is great, the brisket is nice and moist but without the bbq sauce it is a little bland. The kielbasa was very tasty and the coleslaw was on point. Mac & cheese was a little watery for my liking, but still tasted good. Most definitely will be eatting here again when I come Kapolei side. I gave this place a second review. My first review was three stars Second Time Around Much Better four stars out of five. Maybe it was because I knew what I liked and I went with that. I ordered the picnic platter with the brisket. This time the okra was served fresh off the fryer. it had more flavor and it was crispier . The pickles were not as salty as it was the first time. standard franchise bbq. Nothing noteworthy. Good service. Corn bread, fried okra is plain. Loved the Coleslaw and the buns. I made a sliders with the bun use the brisket BBQ sauce added to coleslaw and a pickle it was delish. I'm leaving the previous review because I wanted to show the improvement from my first visit to now my second visit. Great job I will be back for thirds. Tried pork ribs, beef brisket and polish sausage, the best in my opinion was the brisket. All meats were pretty dry and over done. Pickles were too salty for my liking. kind of hot inside and the line moves at an ok rate. came on a perfect day- Sunday because kids eat free and had some free glitter tattoos for the kids. the pulled pork was great - not dry tried the brisket both ways - chopped and sliced and I think I prefer it chopped. there is also a section with bbq sauces that are excellent. the brisket actually doesnt even need sauce. creamy spinach was excellent a must try. I would come back here get just a side of this and eat it with chips the mac and cheese and baked beans were great and flavorful but nothing exceptional. creamy potato casserole was different and also very good. the green beans was not that flavorful and was actually really spicy waffle fries were also great. good flavor and just the right amount of crispy. bread was good but cornbread was dry but my soon seemed to enjoy it. read more

This was my first time here, arrived about 3pm and though not crowded at wasn't empty either. We had the rib plater and sliced brisket platers. I disappointed they were out of mac and cheese and waffle fries both. We got chips and slaw with the ribs and beans and slaw with the brisket. I tried both with and without the original sause. While the meat had good flavor by itself it was a little salty and the sause cut through the salt. Both meats were cooked perfect, very tender with a good smoke ring. It came with 6 ribs and brisket was 3 slices. The slaw was good but the beans were a little disappointing. They were warm but I thought they should have a smokey taste but didn't. The price is s little high at $15 for the ribs and $13 for the brisket. The sides were about 2 or 3 oz each and the rolls were very good. Overall a good 4 stars for the taste and service but lost a little for portion size and salty meats. I would eat there again but will try some of the other meats next time. read more

I loved this place when it first opened. A little pricey but good quality smoked BBQ and side. Since Covid I haven't been here. I went back today and was shocked at paying over $27 for a two meat lunch. I use to get this for $17-18 . Too make matters worse they use to give 4 ribs, now 2 ribs. The brisket slices are definitely less than half the thickness but still 2-3 slices. The very worse, there was barely any smoke ring or smoke flavor. Both the ribs and brisket were dry, leathery and flavorless. I think it was reheated leftovers from the previous day or two because I have no other way to imagine it being so dry, tough and not even warm. I wish the franchise would visit and either have them meet their guidelines or shut down. The ownership must know what is going wrong as before there was always long lines going out the door and now just me in there at 1130 on a Friday lunch prime time. Very sad they don't care but I will never be walking in these doors again. read more

I wanted to give this place a try because when I lived in Dallas texas, I had tried it, I didn't have a good experience there. When I moved back to hawaii from texas I was surprised that this place made it to hawaii. I had to tried this place since I lived in Texas, I wanted to try some Texas BBQ so I decided to try it here and give it another shot. I did their coupon special where I buy one get one free with 2 purchase of 2 large yellow cup drink so I did. I was disappointed that they did get one of my orders wrong. I ordered 2 plates; one with burnt ends 2x and one plate with one choice burnt end that the other one with chopped brisket. What I got was one plate with burnt ends with sliced brisket and the other one with sliced brisket with chopped brisket. Wasn't a big deal but still got my Order wrong. When I tried the brisket ends, it was super salty! I get it . You have to season it for the flavor but it was real salty. I ended up heating up some jasmine rice just to tone down the saltiness. Even with eating it with the sides it was overly salty. With the rice, it wasn't salty at all. Overall the burnt ends were good just salty. The sliced brisket was good. It was tender wasn't dry at all and to my Surprise it Wasn't salty. The chopped brisket was just as salty like the ends. The potato salad was good I liked it. Just right. The brisket chilli was also too salty for me. I feel like they overdid it with salt in the chilli. It was too dry for me so I ended up giving it to my dad. He said it was spicy but to me it wasn't. The brisket Mac and cheese was same. Salty chilli and the Mac and cheese for me the noodles were over cooked. I like mines firm but I guess that's how they make their Mac and cheese. Again, gave them to my dad to eat it. I didn't care for the buffalo sauces. I don't like to eat my brisket with sauces anyway. I actually did a mobile and I did come early about maybe 25 mins early for my pickup time; only because when I tried to order it earlier, the earliest pick up time wasn't until almost a whole hour out from where I was coming from. I would have figured since I came in early, Literally Nobody was there they could at least work on my order earlier. No I was wrong I actually got my Order at 4pm. So sad. I thought customer service would be on point being that I did order ahead of time and I already preordered and already paid on the app before others started to arrive and there was literally only like 3 people who came in after me to Order. So disappointed. Idk if I should Give this Place a chance again. Not only did my order come with the 2 yellow cup drinks, I wasn't even offered my 2 drinks that I ALREADY PAID FOR while I waited 25 mins for my food to be made. I had to ask for my drinks while the 3 customers who came in after me were given their drinks and walked in AFTER ME. Poor customer service. First time ordering from here and because of the pandemic happening just ordered for pick up. Excited for bbq and the menu looked amazing. When i got home though my fiance ordered the two meat meal- chicken breast and brisket. The portion size was awful. Chicken breast was just two small slices of meat each. Brisket was salty as well. He wasnt happy because the ribs kids meal was a good 3 piece of ribs for kids. That kid meal for $7 was reasonable compare to his $21.95 2 piece meat meal. Maybe take out order wasn't great for this area compare to dining in but that would probably be our first and last ordering from there. read more

Last time we got take out, the portions were small and expensive but the food was tasty. We decided to try again. I ordered two 3-meat plates, two large mac and cheese and extra corn bread muffins. I ordered curb side pick up and gave a tip over 20%. When we got home, we noticed that the bbq sauce was missing. By the time I sat down to eat with my family, I already got into my stay at home clothes after a long day. I called to ask if they could send me the sauce. They said they could not and I would have to come pick it up. Luckily, we had a unopened bottle of BBQ sauce in our pantry so we used that instead. I was very disappointed. The person who I spoke to offered to give us another plate of food if we came down, but it's inconvenient after you come home and sit down to eat dinner. After paying $67 for two plates of small portions of food, you would have thought at least the service makes it worth it when there is a mistake in your order. Not sure if we are going back. It is noteworthy to be fair, that the food was good with the bottled bbq. I'm sure if I had their sauce, the food would have been even better. My advice? Check your order before you leave so this won't happen to you. read more

This review is based on my visit earlier this month, or a week or so after they opened. I expected a long line and service not flowing smoothly as they work the kinks out and dealing with the rush of patrons. As we waited outside the restaurant's entrance I noticed the BOH yellow placard. Still I hoped that they took the warning seriously and temperature/serving issues were now being regarding. As we inched along the careening line to the serving station, we decided on our meats and sides hoping that they wouldn't run out during our pre-dinner time visit. When we approached the "carving station" we were offered a sample of their spicy kielbasa which was very tasty. We stuck to our original order of two beef brisket and turkey combos and side of pulled pork (8 oz.) The sides we choose were mac/cheese, baked potato casserole, creamed spinach and potato salad since they were out of cole slaw. The check out process was slow and again staff was still in training mode and forgivable. The bill came out to about $35 for the two of us. Yes, we ordered a side meat however, after seeing the portion size of the brisket and turkey we opted to have leftovers than not have enough. Since the interior dining room was crowded and it was too hot to dine in their outside patio area, we got our sauce to go at the well kept condiment area and decided to take our meal home. Onto the food...the brisket was nicely seasoned and carried a nice smokey flavor without being dry or super oily. The white meat turkey was a bit dry but my preference is dark meat which is usually a lot more moist. The sides were pretty unremarkable. The low score was attributed to the foreign object found in bedded in the pulled pork. We believe it was either a 4" piece of plastic wrap casing or piece of glove? Either one you could see that it was cooked with it as it was charred and melted. We dumped due to the harmful chemicals that may have leached into it since the plastic had melted. I then reached out to the company relaying my concern and photos of the incident by email. I did receive the generic "forwarded this information to our customer relations team..." response but no follow up. Unfortunately, I will not be patronizing this establishment in the future. The food was average at best so the price point seemed high and poor handling of the violation in safety regulations sealed the deal for me. read more

When this establishment first opened it was probably the best BBQ on the island. Unfortunately during the early years of this pandemic we didn't go there too often and just went back a several months ago. Went there tonight and it appears that it took a turn for the worse. My polish sausage and pulled pork was cold, both my wife and son ordered the Mac Stack and they gave my son brisket when he ordered pulled pork, their meats were and so was the mac n cheese. About the only thing that was hot was my sides which was the baked beans and green beans. Kind of sad. read more

I give this place 1 star, I ordered a rib Plat with two sides which was creamy spinach, and fried okra. Now you would have thought I would have enjoyed this meal. Because I all ways wanted to try the place. The ribs was burnt and had very burnt small pieces at the bottom and covered those with burnt medium size ribs on top. And the okra did not have no taste at all. I have to put salt to give it a taste when I got home. So the only thing was good was the creamy spinach. So that was $27.00 thrown away because it was not worth eating. So I don't recommend this ace at not worth it. read more
