Underrated local dinner spot. The entry to this restaurant is so easy to miss because it's so narrow and it blends in so well with everything. I don't know if they want to keep it hidden, but I guess you could consider it that. We went in on a Saturday night with reservations and I highly recommend it since the place was full when we went in and more people kept wanting to come and eat. Service was great from beginning to end, I especially love that everyone accommodated my stroller and my baby. There were four of us and we each got something different, but to start I highly suggest the steamed shrimp and pork wontons and the lechon style Brussels - I would've double-ordered those for my entree if I could have! For entrees we ordered the garlic noodles, misoyaki butterfish, seared catch-of-the-day, and the burger. They were all amazing, and after we all started letting each other try we started making our own "flights" because everything just hit different spots and flavor profiles. In summary, this is one of those places that doesn't care about aesthetics, the decor is casual, but the food is soooo ono. We were hungry early so decided to try the happy hour here. The prices for happy hour are really reasonable so we ended up getting hand cut fries, the ali'i mushroom pizza, the lechon brussel sprouts and the dumplings. Everything was really good and we really didn't have any complaints. My honey got a beer and I don't remember what kind but it was very cold which was really nice. The ambiance in the restaurant is really nice and service was pretty good as well. Got here on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed! Didn't make a reservation beforehand, but luckily they were able to accommodate a party of 3 with little to no wait time. Booth seating available along with 4-top tables throughout the establishment that can be combined for bigger parties. Our server was very kind, and cordial. We opted for the lechon style brussels and spicy garlic noodles (this was a snack before our dinner at another establishment). The brussels were an interesting flavor. I would've liked more flavor coming through the overall seasoning of this dish. I was expecting salty, sweet and vinegary, but it missed the mark for me. As for the spicy garlic noodles, this was flavorful, and very rich/buttery. My friend and I split the egg, while the third person in our party opted against it because she didn't care for runny eggs. Perhaps it's a good thing the third person didn't partake in the egg, because as my friend and I were driving to our next destination, we had to make a pit stop to use the restroom, as it seems that something didn't quite sit well with either of our tummies. Met up with some friends for lunch at Mahi'ai Table located inside The Foodland Farms in the Kamakani Ali'i Shopping Center. We were happy to see our favorite Hostess and Waitresses who were still there. We ordered some of our all time favorites like the Korean Sticky Ribs, The Mahi'Ai Cobb, and the Scallion Bread. Freshly made and delicious. We tried one of their newer menu items the Big Boy Mixed plate. Called in for reservations in 15 minutes but they said earliest is 30 minutes. Got there early and the restaurant is empty with only a few tables seated. Been here 3 years ago and they did the same thing. Fully staffed lots of food servers working, I can't understand that. Our server was good and attentive. He gave us recommendations. This time we had the Ali'i Mushroom Pizza which was really good but I couldn't taste the white truffle oil. That makes the pizza pop. Also the Anykind Crunch Salad. We ordered this last visit, but this time the mochi crunch was stale and the portion was alot smaller:( The hand-cut fries was good, it reminded me of a burger place right around the corner. We didn't have dinner reservations, so it took 20-30 minutes for a table to be ready, which was fine since we could browse Foodland to pass the time. My main entrée was the Spicy Garlic Noodles, and I really enjoyed it. It was a little on the salty side, but it didn't stop me from devouring it all. We've been here a couple of times now, and it consistently delivers that fresh, farm-to-table quality that's hard to beat in the area. I'm not sure I'd order that one again--the pickled mango (which I believe may be from Jade's) gets very hard once it's in an ice-cold drink and doesn't quite taste the same. I also had a mojito, which I loved--the presentation was beautiful and the fresh mint on top really made it. We shared a few appetizers, and the poke was the standout. It was light, fresh, and really well done. I'd never had poke prepared with diced tomatoes and onions the way they did it, but it worked beautifully. Foodland is where we usually shop for groceries, treats and poke when we visit the island. The menu has a wide variety to choose from and again, it was difficult to decide what to eat. The Staff were super friendly! And the restaurant wasnt very busy at the time we were there. Not as noisy, as most places.
