We were so excited for a new place to grind in Kapolei! What! Barbecue Smoked Pork, Brisket....so stoked but had long line so we decided to wait for another day to try it out. I just purchased $102.88 worth of food expecting to surprise my ohana with some mean grinds on this Aloha Friday and I must say. "I am so disappointed!" Let me tell you why: 1- THE MEAT WAS SO DRY I should've paid more attention when braddah was pushing on the meat. (3 lbs Pulled Pork) 2-BRISKET (2 lbs) -DRY asked of I wanted chopped or sliced? Again, I should've paid attention cuz I said chopped but I got diced meat. Ah, it's my fault cuz I never pay attention to how they were preparing and packing the meat since I was having to wait for the cashier to ring me up correctly. Not sure if we'd go again. Would probably take the drive to the Northshore instead to find the truck on the hill by the windmills. Now they got Ono Bbq grub! I'm not an expert on Texas BBQ but may be a little more than some on here who seem to compare to other regional BBQ or that fake stuff from that pixie place. However, my dad who's Texas born and bred, is quite serious and picky about his BBQ (sauce is a sin). I hesitantly brought some to him expecting him to pick it apart especially since it was from a franchise. I was pleasantly surprised that he quite enjoyed it. The brisket was juicy, the sausage tasted great, the fried okra done just right. It's not like his favorite family owned and run place in Tyler TX where the smoke since when it opened is embedded in the walls BUT it was very acceptable for a grumpy ol' man stuck thousands of miles in the Pacific Ocean away from that great state of the perfect BBQ. (My complaint: no Big Red and the Dr Pepper was out.) read more

My fist time visiting this company. They are in same parking lot as my job. I've heard mix reviews about this place..but I am writing this as I sit here eating my wonderful food. It is just amazing and being someone from the south (Georgia) thank you dickies!! After being in Hawaii for 5yrs now I have finally found REAL sweet tea!! We came all the way from town to try Dickey's today. Arrived pretty early around 1120ish in the morning, they open at 11, and after waiting 10 min to order we attempted to order 3 rib plates and were told they ran out...smh.. I've been to other bbq places here and on the mainland and never have these places ran out of ribs 20 minutes into opening. There was no sign posted about being out of ribs prior to us ordering which would of gave me time to call my family members who wanted ribs to see if they wanted anything else. The foods was decent. So instead of the rib plate I wanted, I got brisket and the kielbasa, the kielbasa was good, the brisket was a little bland and not as much smoke flavor for my taste read more

So I was in Louisana before I came to Hawaii for 2 years now. I loved Dickeys there and was so excited to see one here. The food was great as far as the meats but the sides need some help. Was really excited to try their BBQ since there isn't any BBQ places on island. Menu looked awesome but as i went to pay for my food the cashier didn't take off her gloves which were greasy. She handled my debit card along with other customers with her gloves still on. Went to eat the pulled pork and the sliced brisket and it was so bland and had absolutely no flavor to the meat. I had also ordered the mac n cheese with fried okra, the mac n cheese tasted worse then microwaved mac n cheese. The "cheese" was grainy and tasted like it was a powder cheese. So I've been to this Dickey's many times. We got a couple times where the food was phenomenal so we keep going in hopes it'll get better. We probably will due to lack of American barbecue places, but honestly, the food isn't that great. The biggest problem though is actually the service. I think of all the times we've gone they've messed up our order all but maybe once, and probably then too. The problem is they rush the only guy behind the counter preparing the meat. It's not really an excuse but you feel for the poor guy. It's really not so much his fault but bad management. They need to fix their line problems, actually sweeten the sweetened tea and start getting orders right. read more

Went there yesterday to pick up something for dinner. This was our first time here and was really looking forward to some delicious southern BBQ. I ordered the XL Family Pack (all brisket) for $66.95 to go. It sure smelled great on the car ride home but was a big disappointment when we "dug in" at dinner time. I love a good brisket but there was no smoke flavor whatsoever and the meat was so dry even dousing it with extra BBQ sauce didn't help. Decided to try this place out last Wednesday. It's been open since last year but I haven't seen it before. Shows you how much I go to Kapolei. Anyway, I got there around noon and was the only one in the restaurant. I'm sure it's more crowded on the weekends or towards the evenings but if you're planning on eating lunch, I wouldn't worry about a long wait. I ordered a two meat plate with the following: 1st Meat: Pulled Pork 2nd Meat: Turkey 1st Side: Waffle Fries 2nd Side: Barbecue Beans It came up to $13.25 and it was very well worth the price! I haven't had barbecue this good since I left the mainland! A lot of the barbecue places around this side of the island tend to serve the same kind of food so I was surprised to find that this is a more "American" style barbecue place. This place sucks, made the drive out here and was very disapointed. The ribs kind of fall off the bone, but the meat wasn't tender. No taste either, bbq sauce is needed. KFC, makes better slaw. School lunch rolls is better than theirs. Not there fault, but they getting credit for it because it's in their area, the fly's here are terrible. Recomend that they serve barbecue hot. Also the counter is tall and is a problem for shorter people. The Barbacue overall was delicious.

One of the worst BBQ experiences I can remember. We arrived in the evening to find only 2 people in line ahead us. There were 1/2 dozen employees behind the counter almost all had the deer in the head light look. Communication was terrible the two customers ahead of us had their orders messed up. It took 20 mins to resolve this . I have traveled all over the US sampling BBQ. The quality of Dickie's BBQ was extremely poor. Rib plate $13.45 had 4 small ribs ,meat stuck to the bone it was served room temperature no smokey flavor at all. Sides were disgusting.Corn bread was actually a muffin sickeningly sweet. Coleslaw reminded me of what they serve a KFC fried okra was just ok. I suggest if one is looking for good BBQ to avoid Dickies like the plague. read more

Went there for lunch around noon today, barley any line and the food came out quick. The workers were all nice and got everything out fast. Everything tasted great i love the waffle fries and the pulled pork. The meat was soft and delicious. The only thing i was sad about is that they were out of Mac and cheese because it's my favorite, also the mainland had a free unlimited ice cream bar at the location in Ohio and i was a little sad they didn't have that. I'm from Texas and have been to Dickey's several times in Texas. I have visited the Dickey's in kapolei about five times. I will say that this location is a disappointment. The staff are not friendly. On the multiple occasions I have visited I have felt the food is not the best quality, as I have experienced in the past at Dickey's. But today I visited the location and ordered a brisket taco for the first time. For me when I think of a taco it is on a flour tortilla normal size however what I received was a mini taco. I told the staff the taco was not the size I thought it was going to be and it was a mini taco. She just looked at me and said that's the size our tacos are. I felt that she could have been more accommodating to my concerns. Again this location is not very customer service friendly. The staff seem overworked and unsatisfied with their jobs. I love good barbecue however this location is definitely lacking and I can't say that I know when I will be returning. read more

Went in to let them know and they assured me it was in the box with the ribs and gave us the missing sandwhich. Was starving & craving a meaty bbq fix so I ordered ordered the 3 meat plate with ribs, brisket and kielbasa polish sausage- with fried okra and potato salad for my sides. Used my Door Dash app and my food was delivered within 30 mins!! Everything smelled great and looked good- was so hungry and excited to try it that I forgot to take pics. (much smaller portion than I expected for the $18 price tag- and no that isn't including tax, delivery fee or tip) The two small ribs were pretty tasty but probably woulda been even better with bbq sauce-guess you have to order that separately? sausage was ok and there was a good amount included , the brisket looked delicious but was mostly fat- the two bites of actual meat had a weird taste, potato salad tasted like Safeway deli potato salad and was ok, the fried okra was good.
