My husband I have been to this restaurant several times over the years. We're two homesick Texans that moved to PA about 7 years ago and this is the CLOSEST to Texas BBQ you're going to get in the state of PA (much less, perhaps, the ENTIRE East Coast). We come for the brisket, okra, and jalepeno cheese smoked sausage. We appreciate that Dickey's doesn't serve the brisket pre-sauced. They leave that up to the customer as opposed to ALL of their competitors (in Pennsylvania) which do the OPPOSITE and heap on tons of sickenly sweet BBQ sauce on theirs. There is a saying in Texas that the sign of a BAD pit master is slapping BBQ sauce on everything and calling it BBQ. THOSE places are hiding something. Not Dickey's. The brisket can stand on its own. And the fact that they serve up fried okra proves it's legit. However, the reason for this review is to give mad props for the staff that waited on us today (Mother's Day), with huge props to Jenn. We came in and placed our usual order and Jenn offered both my husband and I each a free cookie for Mother's Day. She was so kind and personable. She made sure we recieved top notch service and our meals were PERFECT. So thanks to Jenn and the rest of the staff that worked today! We didn't feel so homesick after our visit. I spent enough time in the Energy industry in Houston Texas to know really good Barbecue. Dickey's in Mechanicsburg PA is among the best you'll find in this area (of course they have TX roots). I had the most moist brisket there, on par with anything I've had in TX. Damien and Jen served us the other day and they were phenomenal! Friendly, helpful, kind! If I could give it negative stars, I would. The meat was dry (brisket and chicken) and the pork ribs weren't only dry, but the meat was no existent on it. I also ordered curbside, and after waiting 25 mins in the take out spot and watching one of the dickeys employees just hanging out outside on a bench with the subway girl for 15 of those minutes.. I decided to go in and make sure I wasn't supposed to just pick it up inside. I walked in and my ordered hadn't even been started yet, which was not due to being busy. I guess they just "missed" it. Though, the employee not flirting with the subway girl was just hanging out inside the store as if there were no orders to prepare. My boyfriend and I visited this gem today. We had never been there before. The food was amazing! We were already thinking of going again as soon as we took our firsts bites. I got hot buffalo wings with mac and cheese and he got a pulled pork sandwich as well as a loaded baked potato. I have never liked barbecue. But I ate some of his meal and I loved it, and plan on ordering the most pulled pork sandwich in the future. They are doing everything right at this restaurant. The restaurant was very clean. The staff were amazing, they checked on us at least three times, gave us free ice cream, and gave us multiple menu recommendations as we had never been there before. The customer service was good! I ordered the 3 meat plate with 2 sides and bread. I got chicken breast, brisket, and ribs. I understand breast isn't the juiciest part of the bird, but the chicken was unbelievably dry. No amount of sauce could save it. The brisket and the ribs were tasty. I also enjoyed my beans and mac. Also the spicy bbq sauce I got was possibly the best sauce I've ever tasted. I wish I got two of them! This is my second Dickey's experience and I returned semi-begrudgingly, as my first experience wasn't that great. I ordered the polish kielbasa, a Caesar salad, and a sprite. My husband got the brisket, mac and cheese and sweet tea. The customer service was fantastic and my food wasn't bad. My husband's brisket was okay, but I much prefer Mission BBQ to Dickey's. Website wouldn't let us place our order because there were no designated pick up times available, so we had to call it in. Something must have gotten lost in the translation because when we brought the order home, our sandwiches had no sauce. We ended up with a pit dip minus the dip and a dry pulled pork sandwich without the Carolina BBQ sauce I had requested. Sometimes meat can be tasty enough to be good without sauce, but this wasn't one of those times. The sauceless pork had little to no smoke flavor. Tried this Dickey's location after new ownership and management. Ambiance: Looks the same like before the new management took over. There were no flies flying around like before. It might be due to the cold weather. Food: Same as the other Dickey's locations except this location has fried sides and soft serve ice cream. Service: We went into the restaurant and were not greeted at all. We saw a male Hispanic with 2 braided ponytails employee at the counter of the Order line. He looked at us and then ignored us completely. There were no customers in front of us or behind us. We stood there for over 5 minutes and there were 3 employees at the counter and no one asked what we wanted to order. I noticed the Hispanic guy greeted everyone else who arrived after us. He finally had to acknowledged us because he saw a long line was forming behind us. But then he quickly walked away. Someone else had to take our order to get the line moving. In other words, I think they would have kept ignoring us and kept us waiting if there were no line waiting after us. The saving grace was the manager who was the only friendly and courteous person working there. The rude and poor service made this restaurant visit an unpleasant experience. The food was not memorable since the bad service overshadowed the food. The Dickey's in Camp Hill is definitely much better for ambiance, food and service. read more

I've been itching to try out this BBQ joint for a while and today I finally got my wish. I ordered the 1 Meat Plate (pulled pork) with Fried Okra and Baked Potato Casserole as sides. My son got his Sunday kids meal for free which made me a very happy camper. I mean a Beef Brisket Hoagie with Waffle Iron Fries + Drink for free -- that's a great value. Imagine if I had 4 kids! I picked spicy BBQ sauce and he picked sweet BBQ sauce. I loved the spicy sauce -- just the right heat and the right kick. This was also the first time ever that I tried fried okra. The texture that it added to the meat was, quoting another reviewer, "out of this world", reminding me of trying out the New Orleans Gumbo for the first time. Oh, here's icing on the cake: everyone got to help himself with a free soft serve ice cream!! One word of caution: I came in at off-peak hour (2:45 pm on a Saturday). I had just one person in front of me. But quickly as I went though with my order, the line suddenly piled up. The assembly line could break down if just one side dish (in this case, my son's Waffle Iron Fries) is in shortage. I could easily imagine how the order line could go out of control during peak hours. Anyways, I must say we had a fun meal. My dad had a heart transplant yesterday and is NOT doing well. My mom is caring for him at the hospital, but just got out of the hospital for the third time herself 2 weeks ago with hiatal hernia surgery and can barely eat. She has lost 30 lbs in the last month.I live 6 states away, so I ordered Dickeye's for my mom on GrubHub. TWO different drivers SAID they delivered her food but didn't. She is starving! I called the Dickey's at 2525 Wycliff in Dallas. The General Manager, Mercedes Washington personally delivered her food to the hospital for her! From closing early, to constantly being told they are out of items, the McDonalds might be a better place for getting good food. I ordered about $80 worth of food. When I went to pick up my order, the place was dark inside, open sign off and when I called no one answered. About an hour later, after they were now closed, I received a call that my food was ready. I explained what had happened, I was told they would refund my card the following day. 4 stars cause this is a good BBQ joint and there arent many on the west shore. We went for a sunday lunch. Kids eat free which is a major plus. Their menu is quite extensive and they have a pretty well thought out selection of sides. The prices are reasonable for the portions. I ordered the 2 meats. It came with two sides, a dinner roll, raw onions and pickles. I took a box home that was enough food for the husband and I to dine with later on. The service: It was good. They greet you upon entering. You make an order, you can see them cook it up and serve it and then you pay. Every employee acknowledged patrons. What was cool: They offer three warm bbq sauces (spicy, original, sweet) and soft serve ice cream in the back for free. Their soft drinks are served In cool reusable and personalizable cups which I thought was nifty. Overall: I haven't seen any bbq joints around the silver springs and hampden township areas. So this will definatley be my go to bbq. Not that I will sing praises in its name since I have had better at a non chain establishment. I still think that it's a nice option for this part of town. The cons: The only draw backs I saw was that it has very limited seating, also they cook their meats in a wood pit once a day, so when they sell out, that's it. I have been eating at the location regularly for the past 2 months. I really enjoy eating lunch or dinner at this location. The owner has been working onsite a couple of times. He seems like a very nice man that really cares about his business and keeping his customers happy and coming back for more good food. All the employees I have dealt with have been very customer oriented as well. The restaurant is clean and comfortable even though it is a smaller dining room than most of the other locations I have visited. Unfortunately as with every business, the supply chain is causing shortages that no one is happy about. So please don't take it out on the owner or staff. The owner and employees couldn't apologize enough for certain items not being available. I understand and just make the best of it. I do appreciate the apologies and I am sure others do as well. I do feel badly for the way people are treating the employees that have no control over the supply issues. It really isn't fair. Back to the point. Upon walking in there was only one couple sitting down eating. I went up to order and I waited 10 min before someone took my order. I could see in the back that their were two guys just hanging out talking. I asked the guy at the counter when I would be waited on and he said in a just a minute I have to do something.
