They used to be great, but over the years it has become horrible. We will never go back. This last time, the meat did not have a smokey flavor and the sides were disgusting, as if they had been out for hours without being changed. We paid $30 for 2 adults and a child. What a horrible mistake. This was the third visit in a row with sub-par food. I am a big barbeque fan, and I live in Wylie, so it is disappointing that I have to spend my money outside of Wylie to get a decent barbeque meal. Currently I drive to the Plano Dickeys or the Garland Spring Creek Barbeque if I'm near home. For the record, I work in Dallas, and we occassionally visit the Dickeys at Forest Lane/Central Expwy. It is much better than the Wylie location as well. I don't claim that Dickeys is the best, but it seems to me that for the most part, the chain has decent food with the exception of the Wylie location. read more

A BBQ place that's always put their heart into their sides. Never a bad meal. Great quantities, good flavor. Potatoes and okra fried to order. Fresh ice tea. Went to the drive through at this Dickeys in Wylie and for the SECOND time in 2 months the person taking orders over the speaker was incredibly difficult to understand and started getting IMPATIENT and RUDE when asked to repeat herself. Of course, my order was wrong when I got it home because she did not care enough to check it. To make matters worse, when I called to complain to the Manager, he defended his employee instead of apologizing for her incompetence and rudeness. I'm responsible for booking caterer's for our monthly luncheons. We typically use Dickey's Wylie twice a year. They catered for us yesterday for 40 attendees. Lunch was fabulous. Nicely set up, delicious food, and MJ and his new catering manager went over and above to get everyone served and were both so pleasant to our attendees. I had many comments from our members expressing their appreciation as well. And I'm SURE the Murphy FD is thankful for our left overs. Thank you so very much for all you do. read more

The lady giving my food used the same glove (only had a glove on one hand) to take my money and to hold my food. During the covid pandemic that's just plain terrible! Also very rude and gave me a dirty look when I asked for bbq sauce like wtf? Then when I got home I realized my salad had all fatty brisket on it and there was no green in the salad all white and wilted lettuce it was almost unreadable. This is essentially an update from my review of over a year ago. They still need to do away with the butter in the vat that you are supposed to get out with an ice cream scooper. It does NOT work. On a visit this week, I had to dislodge the butter with a knife while my grandson used his straw. Whose idea was this? Another point is the guy doing the carving is trying to satisfy the drive thru too, so getting through the line could be a delay. read more

We have used them now twice for family events that we decided to have catered and both times they went above and beyond. For starters they delivered the food on time and stayed to help set everything up. The delivery driver made sure we had everything we needed and ordered prior to leaving. In one case there was something that was accidentally left out of our order and he immediately went back to the restaurant to get it and make sure we had it before the party. The customer service has been exceptional both times and I would absolutely recommend them. Everyone loved the food and they did a great job of making sure we ordered enough to feed everyone. This place sucks as far as customer service. I came inside and was the only one in line. There was a car in the drive through. Three more must have pulled in and ordered and every order was processed totally ignoring the fact I had been standing there long before those other orders were placed. When the forth order came through and it was put in front of me (which I hadn't even had a chance to order yet I lost it. Craving smoked turkey, I went during lunch to make sure it would be fresh. Got a pound of turkey to go. On the way out, I stopped to get onions and noticed that the turkey looked like white spam. So I tasted it, and it was LUNCH MEAT! Yep, smoked turkey breast like you get from the Walmart deli. I went straight back to the counter and stated that this is lunch meat, not fresh turkey. They tried to deny it. More annoying is that they all of sudden did not speak good english. They spoke it fine when I arrived. So I kind of argued with them, trying to get them to admit it was not a fresh, raw breast that they personally smoked. FINALLY they said that they get it and warm it in the smoker. Good food. I have always enjoyed going to Dickeys. This particular Dickeys has the good food, but poor customer service. Each time you go in there it is something new. The service ranges from the people not being able to communicate in English, people forgetting/omitting items from your order, to the older lady who acts like she has better things to do than take and fill your order. read more

My son received a coupon for a free kids meal with purchase of an adult meal ($5 value) in an easter egg for a city event on Easter. When I went through the drive thru and placed my order they told me at the window the would not honor it because they didn't give it out. Said they only give kid meals to the kids that come inside and wouldn't honor anything through the drive thru. This coupon does not specify any location and when I asked where I could use it then she just said "i dont know but not here". That was pretty ridiculous. I am a manager myself and have worked in customer service for 15 years and have never seen or met a store manager that refused to honor something as such. Honestly, I do not see how this place is still in business. I ordered two brisket sandwiches with one side each. My total was $14. Way overpriced for the quality of the meal we recieved. The meat had very little smoke flavor and came with very little BBQ sauce. Also, it was supposed to come with pickles and onions....I got all the way home to find that they had forgotten the onions and pickles. Who eats BBQ without pickles? The mac & cheese was beyond terrible. I picked up dinner at 5:30 and it tasted like it had been sitting under heat lamps since 10:00am. And the the baked potato casserole wasn't any better. Love Dickey's. The meal is always good and consistent. Never had a bad meal or service. And, the ice cream is so yummie. My ONLY complaint is the television - please turn off the sound! If I wanted to watch TV, I would stay home. I would prefer when out to have a conversation with my friends without shouting and to enjoy the meal. I just returned from Dickey's in Wylie with a loaded beef potato....I worked at Red, Hot, and Blue BarBQ for 9 yrs and their potatoes were HUGE...I paid nearly $9.00 for a potato here and it was so unbelievable SMALL...no roll with it...asked for extra butter and sour cream...didn't get IT..... hardly any beef...sorry, compared to RHB...this was a MAJOR LET DOWN ...will NEVER order again read more

Clean restaurant, friendly staff, good looking cashier that took my order, great food. I had the Westerner sandwich Plate W/ 2 sides. On the sandwich, I had the turkey breast and beef brisket, both were cooked to perfection, and melted in your mouth. For my sides, I had the waffle iron fries, that was cooked to order, and I had the Mac and cheese, which was so creamy. The portions were a good size, couldn't finish the fries. I gave this Dickey's a 2 star rating only because the sandwich and barbecue beef was the only part of the meal that was not disgusting. The meat is tender and flavorful and I would buy the sandwich to go again anytime. This is the second trip after they opened a couple of years ago that I ate inside - now I remember why I stopped doing that. The side orders that are supposed to be cold are not nearly cold enough ...40F. The hot sides that I got, potatoes and cobbler, that are supposed to be hot were only luke warm, not nearly the 140F it takes to be safe. All I can wonder at this point is if the manager ever eats in his/her own store at this location. I think if they had to eat there for a week things might change. read more

Cathy and Bill went out of their way to ensure our Holiday Party that was altered by the Ice Storm was a success. Not only did the deliver in the freezing weather, they took care of our group and helped us stay within our Budget. ***UPDATE*** 09-11-16 Dickies Customer Service contacted me through Yelp a day after my review was posted, they requested my contact info so they could reach out to me and make up for my experience. I messaged them the same day with my email address. Also I did call into their corporate customer service number and left a message with my contact info that same day. As of this update, nearly 3 weeks later, I still haven't heard a peep from them. We've eaten here many times over the years and while the food isn't spectacular, it's usually always good. In some respects this review is not representative because normally I'd give them 3 stars, but after our most recent visit and the treatment we received, they get 1 and if I could give them negative 50 stars I would, they ruined our dinner over $3.78 and then overcharged us more than $6! I took my family (4 of us) to eat there this past Thursday evening, we went through the line and paid, it was around $46. After we get to our table and ready to eat the cashier comes to the table and said he had under charged us $1 for my wife's ribs, he charged for the rib plate and she got the half rack. She had told him at checkout it was a half rack of ribs, so we weren't trying to get over on them, though we were made to feel like we were. At this point I was kind of surprised that he's going to interrupt our meal for $1 that was his mistake. We were at no point ever rude to them, I told him Ok, I'll go pay, he said that he needed to speak to his supervisor first. My wife gets up to get some sauce, and says she's going to go see what's going on with the cashier. She's gone for several minutes, we haven't started eating yet, so I get up to go see what's going on, then his manager comes over, she's doesn't' greet us or say anything, after she looks over the receipt she says that the half rack of ribs doesn't come with any sides so they will need to charge us $3.78 for the two sides that we got with the ribs. I told her that they guy behind the counter told us that the ribs come with 2 sides because we asked that specific question. The manager just shrugged that off and said we owe $3.78. We paid, and went back to our table and ate, now it's close to 10 minutes after we got our food, which has been sitting getting cold. I didn't notice until I looked at the receipt the next day that they had in fact overcharged us. My mother got water, yet we were charged for 4 drinks at $1.99 each. Also the guy behind the counter had asked my mother if she wanted a kid's plate, and she said that's fine, she was given a child's plate portion yet charged for a full 1 meat plate. Food is usually always decent, at times we have actually got some really good ribs. My husband loves their tea. We usually go through the drive thru and service is usually pretty quick. Staff could be a little more friendly. When we have dined inside, it has been clean, but once again the staff could be a little more friendly. A little pricey for the experience you have. read more

Thought I'd try one last time today. Been 4 times (over the length of a year) through drive through, Got it wrong every single time. One time I asked for a sliced briquet and got a "fat scraps" sandwich. How can you charge people for that? Wont go into details on the orders, but don't you see a pattern here? How many "I'm sorry..." responses are you going to post? You know what the problems are cause they are posted multiple times. I would recommend you focus on hiring and training great employees and quality products, other than young first job teenagers that obiously dont want to be there and prepackaged food. (you really should make it a policy for employees to leave the cell phones in their car, that will solve a lot of your service problems). One time I could hear the drive through person talking on their phone on the speaker, meanwhile I was waiting for her to take my order). You are not the only BBQ place in Wylie anymore and there are many other BBQ places now. If you are going to stand out (or stay in business), your going to have to make some changes. Per your other responses you can forward this to your customer service people if you wish. (In fairness, Ive been a secret shopper for years, so please take this as constructive criticism.) The Wylie's Dickey's is always spot on! Today we tried the brisket taco, which I didn't even know they had. Man, it is amazing! They use flatbread and it is huge. I forgot they have breakfast tacos here too. We all need to hit this place up more often! Dickey's contributes to our community, donates thousands to our Christian Care Center and is family owned by a local franchisee. All great reasons to eat here. Went in the drive thru to pick up some bbq yesterday... 3 sandwiches cost $17! No sides or drinks either! The "attitude" from the server was free, after I asked for extra napkins. My chopped beef was bland, and had a lot of fat. Was one of the worst bbq sandwiches I've ever had... Spring Creek is much better. I'll look for other options next time. :( read more
