We ended up here with a group of teenage volleyball players in town for a tournament. At that point, you would expect some level of discretion or awareness, but there was none. The whole vibe was exactly what you'd expect from Dick's Last Resort -- loud, silly, and full of attitude. Our server definitely understood the assignment and nailed it -- rude, loud, and hilarious in all the right ways! The food itself was okay -- not mind-blowing, but still good. For our appetizer, we ordered this huge sampler platter that came with fried pickles, chicken strips, bone-in wings, mozzarella sticks, and all the dipping sauces. It was a lot of fun to share. I also tried one of their giant souvenir drinks where you can mix different alcoholic options -- I got the punch one. It was decent, and I loved that you get to keep the cup! For my main dish, I ordered seafood -- and honestly, it was so good I completely forgot to take a picture! That says something. Everything was cooked well and tasted fresh. Then they charge you $25 for a 23 oz beer that comes in a souvenir glass and charge another $25 for a second beer in another glass you have to buy. Then when you ask for a check they wad up a small piece of paper and throw it on the table. $85 for this "entertainment" is unacceptable. If you want to be talked to crazy by your server I say go for it bur I would have never picked out this place for myself. The food was pretty horrible. It's as bad as the pictures suggests. Awful experience. Sarcasm was funny at first and I could deal with that if the service and food were good but both were poor at best. I'm the least picky eater on the planet and I ate half my meal and stopped. Oh and my side was cold canned corn and I asked for a fork and my waitress just walked off. I ended up realizing where we were after being seated. My take in the food is that it's just OK, I'm not too sure what they're known for food wise. The service was actually really great. This place was one of the highlights of our trip! Neither me or my husband knew what the heck Dick's was when we went in, we just wanted to eat something and it looked decent. They sat us down and explained what the restaurant was about and gave us the menu. It was really loud. At first I thought it might be better to leave but my husband suggested we stay and I'm so glad we did! The whole thing was a great experience and the staff was a lot of fun. I love the idea of this restaurant but it wasn't giving the experience I imagined. Upon arrival we were the only ones in the restaurant and it made sense because the food is overpriced and gives microwaved dinner quality. I ordered the baby back ribs and they were full of fat with hardly any meat. The pasta was dry & the steak was overcooked and lacked seasoning. As for the waiter he wasn't very rude, he just forced us to buy cocktails which is fine but I found everyone pretty pleasant. We received the hats at the end which is fine but I wish it was presented more towards the beginning and not when we are signing our bill. Next after dinner and before the check the whole table was taken to the gift shop to buy t shirts and merchandise. Really? Then was added to the food bill so you were actually tipping for merchandise. Didn't realize this until later. Also one person never got a check. Was asked how are you paying? She's 16 and just gave her the card. Was later told she was charged $80 for a burger, tea and one t shirt. I'm pretty sure that doesn't add up to 80 dollars. I want to preface this review with that I've been to the Vegas location. The drastic difference here is that we weren't given a full experience. There seemed to be not enough waitstaff. We sat for 2 hours and didn't get our hats until the end. Never got the paper for the table to draw on. The server acknowledged that we were all over 18 and would get insulted, yet, we were never insulted. Food was okay. Steak was overcooked and I never got a chance to order an appetizer. Seems like an easy upsell to say, "hey are you losers gonna order apps or just be cheap af?" . I had to ask three times for a water and I think the whole sarcasm with service doesn't really work if the service is subpar. I don't blame waitstaff as they are only human and clearly short staffed. I also believe this to be a training issue and that these waitstaff have not been instructed on how to use the sarcasm for the experience while also providing effective service. There's a lot of food options these days and the food here is not cheap. The burgers are $19 and I could go to Olive Garden right now and get unlimited pasta, soup or salad, and breadsticks for $13.99. That is not an exaggeration, that is a real Promo going on right now. I could Probably tip them Extra to insult Me and they would probably be ruder to me Than what I experienced at Dicks Last Resort., Daytona beach location. The people in my party are in the medical profession and were So ready to be skewered and got nothing. Kinda makes me sad they didn't get to leave with lower self Esteem. This is central Florida, when you promise an experience you need to Deliver or people will go Somewhere else.
